Abstract

Biology is one of the cross-interest subject that much demanded by high school students who take a specialization group of Social and Language studies, but the study result of biology is relatively low. This research aims to determine the correlation between: (1) perception with study result of biology; (2) interest with  study result of biology; and (3) perception and interest with  study result of biology together. The research was conducted at SMAN 1 Ambarawa, population and sample are all 10th grade students of Cross-Interest Biology Class in the academic year 2016/2017. The research used non experimental quantitative design with correlational analysis. The data collected in the form of data of student’s perception, interest, and study result of biology. Data of perception and interest obtained by instrument of psychological scale with likert model, whereas data of study result obtained from the student value of final exam in the odd semester. The research results showed that: (1) the value of  rx1y=0,213 (low category) with the value of Sig. 0,014 0,05 at significance level of 5%; (2) the value of   rx2y=0,159 (very low category)  with the value of Sig. 0,070 0,05 at significance level of 5%; and the value of  R=0,216 (low category)  with the value of Sig.  0,048 0,05 at significance level of 5%. Based on the research can be concluded that: (1) there is low positive correlation between perception with study result of biology; (2) there is no correlation between interest with study result of  biology; and (3) there is low positive correlation between perception and interest with  study result of biology together for 10th grade students of Cross-Interest Biology Class at SMAN 1 Ambarawa.

Abstract

The rate of exposure to X-ray radiation on the radiation shielding wall at the Laboratory 3 of Radiology Study Program Purwokerto Diploma Three Program has been analyzed, to find out the difference in the effectiveness of the radiation shielding wall between a 10 cm thick Lead (2 mm) coated partition and a 28 cm thick stucco brick wall. Measurements were made using a radiation source, namely a mobile unit X-ray machine with a Fluke survey meter radiation measuring instrument. Measurement of the rate of exposure to X-ray radiation is carried out by adjusting the distance of the radiation source with the radiation shield wall from 100 cm, 150 cm and 200 cm and taken from 5 measurement points that represent the radiation shield wall. The measurement results show that measurement point C produces the highest radiation exposure rate and measurement point A produces the lowest radiation exposure rate for Do and D. There is a radiation exposure rate of more than 1 μSv/Hr after passing through a 10 cm thick Lead-coated partition wall (2 mm) at a distance of 100 cm to 150 cm. Radiation shielding walls of walls covered with stucco bricks with a thickness of 28 cm were more effective than partitions covered with lead (2 mm) with a thickness of 10 cm. It is necessary to pay attention to aspects of radiation protection, the use of a mobile unit X-ray machine in placing the X-ray tube in the direction of the X-ray tube and, the radiation source distance of at least 2 meters from the lead-coated partition radiation wall.

Abstract

Dari hasil observasi dan wawancara awal dengan para guru Biologi SMA di Kabupaten Demak, terasa bahwa para guru Biologi SMA sangat menginginkan dapat mengajarkan Biologi yang bermakna, sesuai dengan hakekat Biologi dan mendukung tercapainya makna KTSP. Para guru juga sangat menginginkan dapat mengajarkan Biologi dengan metode penemuan dan mengajarkan biologi dengan metode yang aktif, kreatif, inovatif dan menyenangkan. Selama ini para guru merasa kesulitan bagaimana menyampaikan pembelajaran Biologi dengan metode penemuan dan metode pembelajaran yang aktif, kreatif, inovatif dan menyenangkan. Para guru beranggapan bahwa untuk melaksanakan pembelajaran penemuan dan metode pembelajaran yang aktif, kreatif, inovatif dan menyenangkan harus dengan percobaan. Untuk percobaan butuh alat dan bahan, kedua sarana itulah yang tidak dapat dipenuhi oleh para guru. Sebenarnya untuk melaksanakan pembelajaran penemuan dan metode pembelajaran yang aktif,  kreatif, inovatif dan menyenangkan tidak harus dengan eksperimen (percobaan) tetapi dapat juga dilakukan dengan metode yang lain seperti observasi, diskusi dan simulasi. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk : (1) meningkatkan pemahaman para guru Biologi SMA tentang pendekatan kontekstual, metode penemuan dan metode pembelajaran Biologi yang aktif, kreatif, inovatif dan menyenangkan; (2) meningkatkan ketrampilan para guru Biologi SMA menerjemahkan kurikulum Biologi ke dalam bentuk sillabi; (3) Meningkatkan keterampilan para guru Biologi SMA membuat rencana pembelajaran dari sillabi; (4) meningkatkan keterampilan para guru Biologi SMA menggunakan alat peraga, alat percobaan dan lingkungan sebagai sumber belajar; dan (5) meningkatkan keterampilan para guru Biologi SMA mengajar Biologi dengan pendekatan kontekstual menggunakan metode penemuan dan metode pembelajaran Biologi yang aktif, kreatif, inovatif dan menyenangkan. Sasaran utama dalam kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah para guru Biologi SMA di wilayah Kabupaten Demak baik negeri maupun swasta. Jumlah guru yang mengikuti pelatihan ini berjumlah 37 orang guru. Ketigapuluh tujuh orang guru tersebut terdiri atas guru pengampu Biologi kelas X, XI dan XII. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 27 Juni 2009 sampai 17 September 2009. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah para guru Biologi SMA memperoleh pengetahuan tentang strategi Mengajar Biologi yang tepat dan metode Pembelajaran Biologi dengan metode Pembelajaran Aktif, Kreatif, Efektif dan Menyenangkan, cara pembuatan rencana dan pelaksanaan pembelajaran Biologi menggunakan metode Pembelajaran Aktif Kreatif, Inovatif dan Menyenangkan. Diharapkan para guru Biologi SMA menyabarluaskan dan menerapkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan mengajar dengan metode Pembelajaran Aktif, Kreatif, Inovatif dan Menyenangkan yang diperolehnya, di sekolah masing-masing sehingga benar-benar dapat meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran Biologi di Kabupaten Demak. Abstract

This research would like to show the effect of tomato juice in a variety processing method towards hypercholesterolemia albino rat blood plasma lipid fraction. The special purpose if to know and analyze tomato juice advantages towards total cholesterol content, LDL–cholesterol, HDL–cholesterol and triglyceride. The research design is a Post Test Randomized Control Design by means of Complete Randomized Design (RAL). There are 4 groups of treatment, each groups has 6 repeaters. The data is tested by One Way Varian Analyze. If there is a significance difference, there will be Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test followed. The research shows that there is a significance difference of total cholesterol content, LDL–cholesterol, HDL–cholesterol and triglyceride. The highest total cholesterol content, LDL–cholesterol and blood plasma triglyceride content are on the hypercholesterolemia control group. The lowest total cholesterol content, LDL–cholesterol and blood plasma triglyceride content are on the group that is given by a fried tomato juice. The lowest HDL content is on the hypercholesterolemia control group and the highest one are on the group that is given by a fried tomato juice. The research conclusion is that tomato juice supplementation able to fix hypercholesterolemia albino rat blood plasma lipid fraction, especially to decrease total cholesterol content, LDL–cholesterol and blood plasma triglyceride, and increase hypercholesterolemia albino rat blood plasma HDL-cholesterol content. Fried tomato juice give the best effect on decreasing total cholesterol content, LDL–cholesterol and triglyceride and increasing blood plasma HDL-cholesterol content.
