Abstract

The plastic waste problem in Indonesia has reached a severe level. Data from the National Waste Management Information System shows that Indonesia produces around 17 million tons of plastic waste yearly. However, only approximately 66.47% of this plastic waste undergoes recycling, with the remainder ending up in landfills or polluting the sea. This condition places Indonesia in second place in the world after China in terms of the amount of plastic waste produced, making it a country with a plastic waste emergency. This article discusses the development of plastic recycling machine technology as a solution to overcome the plastic waste problem in Indonesia. With a production of around 17 million tons of plastic waste per year, Indonesia faces significant challenges in plastic waste management. Low efficiency often constrains the effectiveness of plastic recycling as a solution. Therefore, this study aims to design and improve the efficiency of a plastic shredder machine. This machine uses specially designed rotating blade technology to produce high-precision plastic flakes. Additionally, we have updated the transmission system to reduce vibration and implemented other innovations to enhance the machine's capacity to shred various types of plastic. We expect this machine to decrease greenhouse gas emissions from the recycling process and lower operational costs. This study shows that the developed plastic shredder machine can work effectively and efficiently, meeting the research objectives of producing plastic flakes quickly. Thus, we expect this machine to significantly reduce plastic waste in Indonesia and support environmental conservation efforts.

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) merupakan kontribusi nyata dosen perguruan tinggi kepada masyarakat. Melalui kegiatan ini, dosen memecahkan berbagai masalah masyarakat dengan pengetahuan dan keterampilan mereka. Artikel ini membahas proyek revitalisasi pintu air di Desa Laskap, Karebbe, Kabupaten Luwu Timur oleh Tim PKM Akademi Teknik Soroako bekerja sama dengan PT Vale Indonesia. Proyek ini bertujuan meningkatkan efisiensi pengairan sawah dan meminimalisir kebocoran air, yang menjadi kendala bagi petani setempat. Proyek dimulai dengan observasi awal untuk mendapatkan data valid bagi penyusunan rencana kegiatan, anggaran, dan waktu pelaksanaan. Persiapan alat dan bahan seperti pompa air, peralatan pengelasan, fabrikasi, serta material besi dan baja dilakukan sebelum pekerjaan dimulai. Pengerjaan mencakup pengeringan area pintu air, pembersihan, fabrikasi, penutupan lubang, pemasangan penyumbat atau seal, serta uji coba kebocoran. Hasil uji coba menunjukkan pintu air berfungsi tanpa kebocoran, meningkatkan efisiensi pengairan sawah. Tahap akhir proyek adalah penyerahan dan penandatanganan komitmen untuk menjaga dan memantau fasilitas yang diperbaiki. Proyek ini menunjukkan pentingnya kolaborasi dalam menyelesaikan masalah infrastruktur pedesaan dan diharapkan menjadi model bagi daerah lain. Dengan PKM, diharapkan kehidupan masyarakat meningkat secara signifikan melalui kontribusi dosen.

Abstract

The 1.5 inch pipe rolling machine utilizes an electric motor to drive the pipe holder and a 2ton jack as a pipe press. Although the roller machine is widely used in conventional workshops by using human power, it causes the pipe rolling time to be long and the machine user gets tired quickly. This is due to lack of resources to think about developing and improving the performance of these machines. Therefore, the focus of this research is the design of a 1.5 inch pipe rolling machine using an electric motor as a drive and a 2 ton jack as a pipe press. This research aims to produce a design and machine for 1.5 inch pipe rolling and to help accelerate the pipe rolling process and reduce worker fatigue. This pipe rolling machine consists of several components, namely, the engine frame, electric motor, gearbox reducer, chain-sprocket, shaft, pipe drive wheel, hydraulic pump and so on. The working process of this machine begins by preparing a 1.5 inch x 3 meter pipe then the pipe is positioned above the drive wheel, lowers the upper pressure wheel to the desired depth with a 2ton jack power, turn on the electric motor and press the button to roll the pipe back and forth and so on. up to pipe roll size as needed. The stages in making this machine are design, detailed drawing, manufacturing process, quality control, assembly and testing, data retrieval and data analysis. The research resulted in drawings of the design and manufacture of the machine, the calculation of the rotational speed of the machine for optimal rolling obtained 20.46 rpm and an average pipe rolling time of 6.80 minutes for one workpiece. This machine can still be optimized by adding a workpiece movement limiter when rolling.

Abstract

Beberapa teknik mengangkat barang untuk mencegah cedera adalah dengan menempatkan posisi tubuh yang benar, mengangkat secara perlahan, atau meminta bantuan jika beban terlalu berat. Seiring perkembangan teknologi, alat bantu angkat seperti crane semakin canggih dan efisien, dilengkapi dengan kontrol remote, sensor keamanan, dan sistem otomatis. Crane sangat penting dalam berbagai industri, termasuk konstruksi dan proyek infrastruktur, meningkatkan efisiensi dan keselamatan. Pada penelitian ini, telah dilakukan perancangan dan konstruksi alat bantu angkat berdasarkan konsep Jib Crane. Produk akhir diuji dan menunjukkan kemampuan mengangkat hingga 270 kg dengan ketinggian 235 cm, memberikan wawasan berharga untuk meningkatkan produktivitas dan keselamatan.
