Abstract

This article focused on Samson's fall when he was in the phase of prosperity and glory. The downfall in this article referred to engaging in sexual sin, corruption, abuse of power and various scandals. The portrait of Samson's fall narrated by the Book of Judges also happened to some spiritual leaders today. The background of the problem accompanied by factual data was the main basis of this article. In writing this article, literature study and hermeneutic approaches were used to design the articles. The formulations of questions asked were what caused Samson's fall in the prosperity phase? And why did church leaders tend to fall in their phase of prosperity? The findings of this article revealed that Samson fell because he was a leader who tended to be difficult to accept advice from others, he was individualistic, narcissistic, and easily swayed by lust. These things were not much different from the downfall of some spiritual leaders today, as a result the image of religious leaders was damaged because of their deeds.

Abstract

Whatever the reason, racialism must be abolished in Christianity because it is not in accordance with the teachings of God's Word. Christians who are still racist must repent by accepting the Lord Jesus as their personal Savior and free themselves from racist attitudes. The racial phenomenon that exists in Christianity is a challenge that must be faced and resolved by the church. This is very possible because within Christianity there are still people who see each other through a certain skin color, hair shape, ethnicity and even gender. In discussing the implementation of Galatians 3:28-29 on James H. Cone's Black Theology in eliminating racial issues, the author will describe the contents of Gal. 3:28-29 as a supporting verse to remove racial issues that exist in Christianity. Where from the racial issues that developed, James H. Cone's Black Theology was chosen to be the object of research for comparison with the verses discussed, because Cone is a Black figure who pioneered Black Theology which is quite popular and has contributed theology that can be a reference or reference that seems would justify racial issues within Christianity. So it is hoped that with this discussion the author can add thoughts to free Christians from racist attitudes.ABSTRAKApapun alasannya, rasieme harus dihapuskan dalam kekristenan karena tidak sesuai dengan ajaran Firman Tuhan. Orang Kristen yang masih bersikap rasis harus bertobat dengan menerima Tuhan Yesus sebagai Juruselamat pribadinya dan membebaskan dirinya dari sikap yang rasis. Fenomena rasial yang ada di dalam kekristenan adalah tantangan yang harus dihadapi dan diselesaikan oleh gereja. Hal ini sangat mungkin karena di dalam Kristen sendiri masih ada orang yang melihat sesamanya melalui warna kulit tertentu, bentuk rambut, suku dan bahkan jenis kelamin. Dalam pembahasan mengenai implementasi Galatia 3:28-29 terhadap Teologi Hitam James H. Cone dalam menghapus isu rasial, penulis akan memaparkan isi dari Gal. 3:28-29 sebagai ayat pendunkung untuk menghapus isu rasial yang ada di dalam Kristen. Dimana dari isu rasial yang berkembang, Teologi Hitam James H. Cone dipilih menjadi obyek yang diteliti untuk dikomparasikan dengan ayat yang dibahas, karena Cone adalah tokoh Hitam pencentus Teologi Hitam yang cukup popular dan telah memberikan sumbangsih teologi yang dapat menjadi rujukan atau referensi yang seakan-akan membenarkan isu rasial di dalam Kristen. Sehingga diharapkan dengan pembahasan ini penulis dapat menambahkan sumbangsih pemikiran untuk membebaskan umat Kristen dari sikap yang rasis. Kata Kunci: Galatia 3, Teologi Hitam, James H. Abstract

This paper discusses the pandami of COVID-19 in a Pentecostal theology perspective. The current pandemic is causing trouble for everyone, at the same time this epidemic encourages religious people to view and study from a theological point of view how this COVID-19 disease from the perspective of the Bible. This article was written using a qualitative method with a literature study approach. Within the internal of Christianity itself, the various interpretations of COVID-19 can be analyzed from a theological frame. In the perspective of Pentecostal theology, of course this pandemic is believed to be a part of the prophecy of the holy book as well as hinting that we are in an end-time phase, one of which is the epidemic of pestilence today. This pandemic is also within the framework of Pentecostal theology as preparation for the coming of Jesus Christ to earth, for the second time through pestilence as written by the Scriptures. This COVID-19 incident is also a phase in which humans will enter a period of queue for Kris who becomes the ruler and controller of this world. Key Words: Pandemic COVID-19, Pentecostal Theology, Church.Tulisan ini membahas pandemi COVID-19 dalam perspektif teologi Pentakosta. Pandemi yang terjadi saat ini tentu menyebabkan kesulitan bagi siapa saja, sekaligus wabah ini mendorong kaum religius untuk memandang dan mengkaji dari sudut pandang teologis bagaimana penyakit COVID-19 ini dari perspektif Kitab Suci. Artikel ini ditulis dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kepustakaan. Di dalam lingkup internal Kekristenan sendiri, beragam pemaknaan dan penafsiran mengenai COVID-19 ini jika ditelisik dari bingkai teologis. Dalam perspektif teologi Pentakosta, tentu pandemi ini diyakini sebagai bagian dari nubuatan kitab suci sekaligus mengisyaratkan kita berada di fase akhir zaman yang ditandai salah satunya mewabahnya penyakit sampar di masa kini. Pandemi ini juga dalam bingkai teologi Pentakosta sebagai persiapan kedatangan Yesus Kristus ke bumi, untuk kedua kalinya melalui penyakit sampar sebagaimana yang ditulis oleh Kitab Suci. Abstract

Abstract: The Javanese Bible has a slightly different translation from other translations for the meaning of the word Immanuel. In particular, this difference can be seen when comparing the meaning of Immanuel in Javanese and the meaning of Immanuel in Indonesian. What is interesting is that the translation in Javanese for the word Imanuel has similarities with the sentence "manunggaling kawula Gusti", which is a term that is very familiar in Sufism Islamic circles in Javanese society. The first question is whether the translation in Javanese is correct according to the original meaning or not. Second, is it true that the word Imanuel has similarities with the concept of "manunggaling kawula Gusti" in the Islamic belief in Sufism or not. Third, does the similarity of concepts also mean the same meaning? Fourth, with these similarities, the meaning of Immanuel in Javanese can be used as a means of cultural inculturation and contextualization of Islamic Sufism. Some of these questions will bring the discussion to a new insight related to the Christology of the meaning of Immanuel in the Javanese translation. This writing uses qualitative research methods, with a review of appropriate reference books and journals. Furthermore, it is also hoped that, by understanding the correct concepts and meanings, we can carry out cultural inculturation and contextualization appropriately in using the term Immanuel. Abstrak: Alkitab bahasa Jawa memiliki terjemahan yang sedikit berbeda dengan terjemahan lain untuk makna kata Imanuel. Secara khusus perbedaan tersebut terlihat ketika membandingkan antara arti Imanuel dalam bahasa jawa dan arti Imanuel dalam bahasa Indonesia. Menariknya adalah, terjemahan dalam bahasa Jawa untuk kata Imanuel memiliki kesamaan dengan kalimat “manunggaling kawula Gusti” yaitu istilah yang sangat familiar dalam kalangan Islam Tasawuf masyarakat Jawa. Pertanyaan pertama, apakah terjemahan dalam bahasa Jawa tersebut benar sesuai makna aslinya atau tidak. Kedua, apakah benar kata Imanuel memiliki kesamaan dengan konsep “manunggaling kawula Gusti” dalam keyakikan Islam Tasawuf atau tidak. Ketiga, apakah persamaan konsep tersebut juga berarti persamaan makna. Keempat, apakah dengan persamaan tersebut maka makna Imanuel dalam bahasa Jawa dapat dijadikan sebagai sarana inkulturasi budaya dan kontekstualisasi terhadap Islam Tasawuf. Beberapa pertanyaan ini, akan membawa pembahasan kepada sebuah wawasan baru terkait dengan Kristologi dari makna Imanuel dalam terjemahan bahasa Jawa. Penulisan ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif, dengan tinjauan kepada buku dan jurnal referensi yang sesuai. Selanjutnya juga diharapkan, dengan pemahaman konsep dan makna yang benar, maka dapat melakukan inkulturasi budaya dan kontekstualisasi secara tepat dalam menggunakan istilah Imanuel.

Abstract

Indonesia, as a democratic nation, regularly holds elections to select legislative and executive members. The 2024 elections mark a significant moment, especially for Christians, who have a social responsibility to actively participate. This participation is crucial, as the election results will greatly impact the lives of the people and the nation. Hence, this community service initiative aims to increase Christian participation in the 2024 elections and raise awareness about their social responsibilities within the democratic context. The activity was held through a seminar at GKPB Fajar Pengharapan, Bandung, featuring speakers from diverse backgrounds. The methods used include presentations, discussions, and QA sessions, supported by descriptive qualitative data from various literature sources. The goal is to raise awareness among Christians about the importance of participating in the 2024 elections and understanding their social responsibilities. The education effort also targets first-time voters (millennials) to help them make informed voting decisions. This educational initiative stimulates awareness and commitment among Christians to actively participate in the 2024 elections. With a better understanding of their roles and social responsibilities, it is hoped that Christians will contribute to fair and honest elections and elect leaders capable of bringing positive change to Indonesia.Keywords: church; politics; social responsibility Christians; electionsAbstrak Indonesia sebagai negara demokrasi, rutin mengadakan pemilihan umum untuk memilih anggota legislatif dan eksekutif. Pemilu 2024 merupakan momentum penting, terutama bagi umat Kristen yang memiliki tanggung jawab sosial untuk berpartisipasi aktif. Partisipasi ini sangat penting mengingat hasil pemilu berdampak besar pada kehidupan masyarakat dan negara. Itulah pentingnya PkM ini untuk meningkatkan partisipasi umat Kristen dalam Pemilu 2024 dan memberikan pemahaman tentang tanggung jawab sosial mereka dalam konteks demokrasi. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan melalui sarasehan di GKPB Fajar Pengharapan, Bandung, dengan menghadirkan narasumber dari berbagai latar belakang. Metode yang digunakan adalah penyampaian materi, diskusi, dan tanya jawab, yang didukung oleh data kualitatif deskriptif dari berbagai literatur. Membangkitkan kesadaran umat Kristen tentang pentingnya partisipasi dalam Pemilu 2024 dan memahami tanggung jawab sosial mereka. Edukasi ini juga ditujukan untuk pemilih pemula (milenial) agar mereka dapat menggunakan hak pilih dengan bijaksana. Kegiatan edukasi ini merangsang kesadaran dan komitmen umat Kristen untuk berpartisipasi aktif dalam Pemilu 2024. Abstract

The Indonesian nation is facing an era where horizontal conflicts often occur. Especially in the era of digital progress and the era of disruption that forces people to use technology to communicate, do business and so on. So that in the era of disruption, many hate speech accessed in cyberspace can threaten unity in the real world. By using a literature study approach, this paper intends to explain how Christians have an impact and become agents of truth through living in harmony and being pioneers in harmony. It was concluded that for Christians, harmony must also be done in a real place in the community as well as in the social media community which is now called the era of globalization in the era of disruption. Through the era of disruption and challenges, Christians can understand that any situation and condition still contributes to the diversity of the nation. Abstract

Abstract: Single Parents will certainly not be easy in carrying out multiple roles, especially in teaching morals to teenagers. Many ways are done to from good morals starting from parenting that is applied in everyday life so that teenagers can understand what is good and what is bad. The purpose of this study is to find out how single mother parenting affects the moral formation of adolescents aged 14-17 years which will later provide benefits for Christian families to pay attention to parenting patterns in shaping adolescent morals. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method and collection uses the method of observation, interviews and literature study. Then present the data, analyze the data by reducing data and conclude the research results. The research location is in Botang, Village, Makale District, South Sulawesi using three single mother informants and three teenage informants. The results of the study indicate that the parenting style applied by single mothers to adolescents in the Botang sub-district is a strict, disciplined parenting pattern which is included in authoritarian parenting and an independent and non-restrictive parenting styleincluded in democtratic parenting. The result of this upbringing on the morals of adolescents in the Botang village is that adolescents show attitudes and behaviors that are in accordance with God’s will, namely being active in service, obedient to their parents, responsible, disciplined and do not violate the norms in society. Abstrak: Orang tua tunggal (single mother) pastinya tidak akan mudah dalam menjalankan peran ganda, apalagi dalam mengajarkan moral terhadap anak remaja. Banyak cara yang dilakukan untuk membentuk moral yang baik diawali dari pola asuh yang diterapkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari supaya remaja bisa memahami mana yang baik dan yang buruk. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana pola asuh single mother terhadap pembentukan moral remaja usia 14-17 yang nantinya memberikan manfaat kepada keluarga Kristen untuk memperhatikan pola asuh dalam membentuk moral remaja. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan pengumpulan data menggunakan metode observasi, wawancara dan studi pustaka. Kemudian menyajikan data, menganalisis data dengan mereduksi data serta menyimpulkan hasil penelitian. Lokasi penelitian bertempat di Kelurahan Botang, Kecamatan Makale, Sulawesi Selatan dengan menggunakan tiga informan single mother dan tiga informan anak remaja. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pola asuh yang diterapkan single mother terhadap remaja di Kelurahan Botang pola asuh tegas yang mendisiplinkan yang termasuk dalam pengasuhan otoriter dan pola asuh yang memandirikan dan tidak mengekang, yang termasuk kedalam pengasuhan demokratis. Hasil dari pengasuhan ini terhadap moral remaja di Kelurahan Botang adalah remaja menunjukkan sikap dan perilaku yang sesuai dengan kehendak Tuhan yakni aktif dalam pelayanan, patuh terhadap orang tua, bertanggung jawab, disiplin serta tidak melanggar norma dalam masyarakat.

Abstract

This study delves into the ethical considerations of phone sex within long-distance marital relationships (LDRs) from a Christian ethical perspective. Employing qualitative methods, including scriptural analysis and literature review, the research aims to ascertain the compatibility of phone sex with Christian doctrinal teachings concerning marital intimacy. The findings suggest that phone sex is perceived as diverging from the Christian ethical norms which advocate for physical and personal marital interactions, categorizing it as a form of sexual perversion akin to masturbation. The study contributes to theological discourse by providing a framework for understanding modern challenges in marital intimacy within the Christian context. It emphasizes the importance of maintaining physical intimacy as prescribed by scripture and highlights the potential spiritual and ethical pitfalls associated with phone sex in LDRs. Recommendations include fostering educational and counseling initiatives within church communities to guide couples in navigating these issues. This study enriches the dialogue on integrating technology into marital practices while adhering to Christian ethical standards.

Abstract

In the age of significant medical technology advancements, the management of complex medical conditions such as vegetative states presents profound ethical dilemmas for families, healthcare providers, and the community. This study explores the role of Christian theology in guiding ethical decision-making amidst these challenges, focusing on the concept of "imago Dei," which asserts that every human being is created in the image and likeness of God. Employing a qualitative-descriptive approach, this research integrates theological insights with medical dilemmas, emphasizing the importance of honoring human dignity and addressing ethical challenges in medical decision-making. The findings suggest that theological principles not only enrich medical understanding but also provide ethical and holistic guidance, these principles support decisions that honor the value of human life and patient dignity, whether in sustaining patient life or considering the termination of life-support measures. This study highlights the need for ongoing dialogue between theology and medical practice to ensure that healthcare remains sensitive to human and ethical aspects.AbstrakDalam era kemajuan teknologi medis yang signifikan, pengelolaan kondisi medis yang kompleks seperti kematian vegetatif menimbulkan dilema etis yang mendalam bagi keluarga, tenaga medis, dan masyarakat. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi peran teologi Kristen dalam membimbing keputusan etis di tengah-tengah tantangan ini, dengan fokus khusus pada konsep "imago Dei" yang menyatakan bahwa setiap manusia diciptakan menurut gambar dan rupa Allah. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif-deskriptif, penelitian ini mengintegrasikan wawasan teologis dengan dilema medis, menekankan pentingnya menghargai martabat manusia dan mengatasi tantangan etis dalam pengambilan keputusan medis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa prinsip-prinsip teologis tidak hanya memperdalam pemahaman medis, tetapi juga memberikan arahan etis dan holistik. Prinsip-prinsip ini mendukung keputusan yang menghormati nilai kehidupan manusia dan martabat pasien, baik dalam mendukung keberlangsungan hidup pasien maupun dalam mempertimbangkan terminasi alat bantu kehidupan. Studi ini menekankan kebutuhan akan dialog yang berkelanjutan antara teologi dan praktik medis untuk memastikan bahwa perawatan kesehatan tetap sensitif terhadap aspek kemanusiaan dan etika.

Tujuan dari penelitian ini supaya dapat memberikan paradigma bagi kekristenan untuk menekankan nilai agama dalam membangun etika politik supaya melahirkan kebijakan yang pro dengan masyarakat luas dan kemanusiaan. Menggunakan metode kualitatif deskritif dengan pendekatan studi literature maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa penekanan terhadap membangun etika politik dalam aktualisasi kebijakan publik adalah, yang pertama perlunya penekanan akan kajian teoritik dan hakikat etika politik yang dapat memberikan pencerahan bagi politisi dan kekristenan dewasa ini. Selanjutnya aksentuasi nilai-nilai agama dalam etis teologis Kristen harus membawa pada perubahan terhadap segala kebijakan. Dan juga berperan pada menghargai akan nilai-nilai seperti kasih, keadilan, dan kepedulian terhadap sesama. Yang terakhir perrlunya aktualisasi gereja dan kekristenan masa kini dalam membangun etika politik dan kebijakan publik. Yang mana nilai-nilai agama memberikan landasan etis yang kuat dalam merancang kebijakan yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup masyarakat secara keseluruhan. Meskipun tantangan dan perbedaan pendapat selalu ada, aksentuasi nilai-nilai agama dapat membantu memperkaya agenda-agenda politisi Kristen supaya dapat menncapai tujuan yang lebih baik dalam membangun masyarakat yang lebih adil dan berdaya.  ABSTRACTPolitics when used for humanity is very noble, but due to mutually beneficial practices between individuals and various communities related to political policies that are focused on personal agendas and not to the public. It is no longer noble because personal agendas tend to enrich themselves. The purpose of this research is to provide a paradigm for Christianity to emphasise religious values in building political ethics in order to give birth to policies that are pro to the wider community and humanity. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a literature study approach, it can be concluded that the emphasis on building political ethics in the actualisation of public policy is, first, the need for emphasis on theoretical studies and the nature of political ethics that can provide enlightenment for politicians and Christianity today. Furthermore, the accentuation of religious values in Christian theological ethics must lead to changes in all policies. It also contributes to the appreciation of values such as love, justice, and care for others. Finally, the need for actualisation of the church and Christianity today in building political ethics and public policy. Where religious values provide a strong ethical foundation in designing policies that aim to improve the quality of life of society as a whole.
