Abstract

Nurses are the spearhead of services that greatly affect patient satisfaction as service users in the hospital. One of the nursing services that provided by nurses is administering drugs. The twelve correct principles of drug administration are the most current principles of medication, consisting of correct patient, correct drug, correct dose, correct method of administration, correct time, correct documentation, correct health education regarding medication, patient right to refuse, correct assessment, correct evaluation, correct reaction to food and correct reaction to other drugs. This study aimed to determine the correlation between the implementation of drug administration with twelve correct principles on the level of patients’ satisfaction in the Inpatient Ward of Mangusada Badung General Hospital. This research was a quantitative study with observational methods and cross sectional design, the sample in this study were patients and the population of nurses in Mangusada Badung General Hospital according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria selected by purposive sampling of 58 patients and 58 nurses. The research was conducted for 1 month. Data were analyzed using nonparametric rho spearman test at a significance level of ? 0.05, p value was 0.000 <0.05. It showed that there was a significant correlation between the implementation of drug administration with Twelve correct principles on the level of patients’ satisfaction in the Inpatient Ward of Mangusada Badung General Hospital. It is expected that health workers, especially nurses, can apply the principles of correctness in administering drugs to increase patient satisfaction.

Abstract

Appendectomy is a surgical procedure for appendicitis. This action can cause the perception of pain so that it has an impact on the healing process and triggers further complications if left untreated. Deep breathing relaxation techniques combined with aromatherapy is one of the treatments done to help overcome post appendectomy pain. This study purposed to determine the effect of deep breath relaxation with lavender aromatherapy on the level of post appendectomy pain in the Janger Room RSD Mangusada. This study is a pre-experimental research with one group pretest and posttest design involving 32 samples selected through purposive sampling technique. Collecting data using a research instrument in the form of the Numerical Rating Scale observation sheet. The results showed that there was an effect of deep breath relaxation with lavender aromatherapy on the level of post appendectomy pain in the Janger Room at RSD Mangusada (p-value = 0,000). This research can be applied in the provision of nursing services as one of the nursing interventions to reduce post appendectomy patient pain.

Abstract

Patient safety has now become a global issue and a critical component of hospital quality management. One of the components in patient safety that must be carried out in the operating room is the application of the surgical safety checklist. Adherence in implementing the surgical safety checklist is influenced by several factors such as the knowledge of patient safety that nurses have. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of patient safety knowledge and the compliance of nurses in implementing the surgical safety checklist in the Pre-Operation Room, the Operation Room, RSD Mangusada Badung. This study used a quantitative observational method with a cross sectional design. The sample was all nurses in the operating room installation room RSD Mangusada Badung who were selected by a total sampling of 41 people. The research was conducted from 01-31 October 2020. The results of data analysis using the rho Spearman nonparametric statistical test at a significance level of ? 0.05, the p value was 0.000 <0.05. This shows that there is a significant relationship between the level of patient safety knowledge on nurses' compliance in implementing the surgical safety checklist in the Pre-Operation Room for the Operation Room, RSD Mangusada Badung. It is hoped that health workers, especially nurses in the operating room, can increase knowledge about patient safety and be more obedient in implementing the surgical safety checklist.

Abstract

Abstract

Bacterial cellulose is an extracellular polysaccharide synthesized by several bacterial genera, including Gluconacetobacter sp. SAL53, and has broad potential applications in biotechnology, food, and biomedical industries. Since this bacterium requires aerobic conditions, oxygen availability becomes a key factor influencing cellulose biosynthesis. The surface area of the fermentation medium affects oxygen transfer, while fermentation time determines the duration of bacterial metabolic activity and cellulose accumulation. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of different fermentation medium surface areas and fermentation durations on BC production. The experiment used four container diameters corresponding to surface areas of 78.5, 176.6, 314.0, and 490.6 cm², combined with fermentation periods of 5, 10, and 15 days. The results demonstrated that both surface area and fermentation time significantly influenced BC yield. Increased surface area and prolonged fermentation led to higher BC thickness, wet weight, and dry weight. The highest production was obtained under treatment P4W3, with a surface area of 490.6 cm² and a fermentation period of 15 days, yielding a thickness of 1.33 cm, wet weight of 415.5 g, and dry weight of 4.85 g. This condition was also characterized by a final pH of 3.89, the lowest reducing sugar content (5.22%), and the lowest remaining volume (350 mL), indicating optimal bacterial metabolism. These findings confirm that fermentation surface area and duration are critical factors for optimizing BC production.

Abstract

Cocos nucifera is an important plantation commodity in Indonesia with high economic value and considerable potential for the development of value-added products, including Virgin Coconut Oil. This study aimed to compare the physicochemical characteristics and antibacterial activity of VCO produced using heating, fermentation, and enzymatic methods. The research was conducted experimentally from June to August 2024 at the Advanced Biology Laboratory, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Mataram. VCO samples were evaluated through organoleptic tests and physicochemical analyses, including yield, moisture content, peroxide value, and free fatty acid content. Antibacterial activity was tested against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli using the disk diffusion method. The results showed that all VCO samples generally met Indonesian National Standard quality requirements, except for free fatty acid content in some treatments. The fermentation method produced the highest yield (31.88%), while the heating method resulted in the best overall quality, characterized by 0% moisture content, 0 mg Eq/kg peroxide value, and the highest organoleptic acceptance. All VCO samples exhibited antibacterial activity, although the inhibition zones were categorized as weak. The findings indicate that the heating method is the most suitable for producing high-quality VCO with antibacterial potential.
