Abstract

The Ngada Regency Government is developing horticulture using a group approach, namely farmer groups. Each farmer group is led by a group leader. The farmer group leader applies an environmental leadership approach based on local wisdom in developing horticultural agriculture. One of the factors that determines the success or failure of an environmental leader is leadership character. For this reason, it is necessary to identify and explain the character of environmental leadership based on local wisdom. This research aims to determine and describe the character of environmental leadership based on local wisdom in the development of horticultural agriculture. This research is qualitative research using hermeneutic analysis techniques. Data collection was carried out through observations of groups of horticultural farmers in Ngada Regency, in-depth interviews with two expert sources and 6 (six) heads of farmer groups, as well as focus group discussions (FGD) with 24 members of farmer groups. The research results show that the character of environmental leadership based on local wisdom in the development of horticultural agriculture is the character of hard work, moral character and spiritual character. This research contributes on-site knowledge-based environmental leadership.

Abstract

The Ngada people of Flores have a very special way of looking at death, which is known as mata golo. Mata golo is any form of unnatural death. For example, being hit by a vehicle, drowning or being killed. This form of death is always perceived by the Ngada as a curse. It is a result of past sins and mistakes. The purpose of this study is to explore the concept of the mata golo and its interpretation from the perspective of Christian faith. This study adopts an interpretive phenomenological qualitative approach. Observation and interviews were used to collect the data. Research sites were in Tude, Tiwuriwu I village, Jerebuu subdistrict and Gisi, Ratogesa village, Golewa subdistrict, Ngada district. The research subjects were family members of mata golo victims, traditional elders and traditional priests (lima mali). The results of the study show that the Ngada people believe that there are three types of death, which are understood differently: gore gote, mata ade and mata golo. Gore gote is a form of death that should be celebrated and given thanks for, for example, longevity. Mata ade is a natural death, for example due to illness and disease. Mata golo is a death that is not good, unnatural and can be devastating for the family left behind. A Christian perspective, which understands death as an event of faith and salvation in Christ, will be brought to bear on this last point. The study will conclude with some special remarks.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Death is a natural event that will inevitably be experienced by everyone who has ever lived, and this reality is recognized by human beings. However, not everyone is able to accept death easily, especially the death of a loved one. Death leaves profound grief for the family members left behind. Experiences of loss and deep sorrow due to the death of loved ones are also felt by the community in Ende City, Flores. These experiences have not yet received adequate attention in terms of psychological support, spiritual accompaniment, and social support. This community service activity was carried out in four stages: socialization on the importance of psychological and spiritual accompaniment as well as social support for bereaved families; training in psychological accompaniment for volunteers; group accompaniment; and individual or personal accompaniment. As expected, this accompaniment program can be implemented on a sustainable basis and encourage the community and related stakeholders to actively participate in providing psychological, spiritual, and social support to families or individuals experiencing grief due to the death of their loved ones. Keywords: Bereaved Families, Psychological Support, Social Support.
