Abstract

English as an international language, it is a key to conquer the world. Education is a tool that enables students to gain knowledge and develop their creative thinking abilities. The aim of this research is to evaluate the advantages of implementing SPEAKING 3’S, an innovative method for English Language English language teaching, especially in speaking. Within the confines of a quantitative descriptive research design, an experimental group and a control group were compared. In the experimental group, two weeks of English classes were modified within the framework of SPEAKING 3’S, an innovative and newest English language teaching style. In the control group, there is no instructional activities based on the SPEAKING 3’S technique were implemented. Pre and post-tests were administered to evaluate the efficacy of the SPEAKING 3’S method on the speaking skills of students and to compare the experimental and control groups. In addition, observations were done to evaluate the participants in both courses and compare their similarities and differences (students' interactions with the teacher and their opinions on the English language teaching style implication). The adoption of the SPEAKING 3’S technique in English lessons improves students' speaking skills and can assist offer an original point of view to English Language teaching, according to the findings of this research. Abstract

This study looked at the impact of communicative activities on students' speaking abilities and challenges in communitive language teaching (CLT) classrooms. Classroom action research (CAR) was taken into consideration as the research design in this study. A quantitative technique was applied in this study. The researcher wanted to improve the students' speaking abilities using communicative activities from the Communicative Language Teaching Method. Ten cycles, each lasting ten weeks, were used to divide up the teaching and learning process. Stages of the cycle are Planning, Action, Observation, and Rofection. In general, kids preferred classroom activities that encouraged healthy competition and high levels of participation. Following the interventions, students reported significantly higher levels of satisfaction with their speaking ability, proving the value of speaking classes. Different student views on using communicative activities were statistically significant. Key words : CLT, speaking

Abstract

The objective of the research is to improve speaking skill of English House Course students through English camp strategy. This was an pre-experimental research using one group on pre-test and post-test design, the population of this research was the students of English House Course which has 80 students. Because the total number of the population was big enough, the researcher took 20 samples and applied random sampling technique; it means that one class of the population were taken as samples and the data was analyzed into percentage, mean score analyzes and the value of the t-test. The result of the data analyzes shows that the students’ achievement on the pre-test was 71,7 and post-test was 86,1. This shows that English camp is a good strategy in English learning process at the students of English House Course Langkat. After analyzing the data by using the t-test formula, the result of the t-test value (11,86) was greater than t-table value (2,093). This indicated that the hypothesis of research is accepted. There is a significant Influence of English camp program towards the students’ achievement in English learning process. The researcher does English camp in English House Course Langkat Kabupaten Enrekang for five days and it gives positive effect of students’ skill in speaking. All item of learning achievement able to improve the students’ speaking skill. Keywords: Speaking Skill; English Camp

Abstract

The English language ability test, in this case TOEFL, is an international standard language test to measure English language skills for speakers whose mother tongue is not English. In Indonesia, there are several conditions that require someone to take the TOEFL test, including continuing higher education both at home and abroad, meeting college graduation requirements, knowing the level of language skills applying for jobs, and getting a promotion. In general, there are three types of TOEFL, namely IBT (internet-based test), PBT (paper-based test), and ITP (Institutional Testing Program). In this regard, school age is considered the right time to introduce the TOEFL test to students, especially those whose solution is to provide TOEFL PREPARATION training. From the TOEFL training activities carried out from April 15 2024, the results showed that there was a significant increase in the students' TOEFL scores before and after the activity
