Abstract

Abstract: The learning device developed is a physics learning tool based on the Novick model to improve students' conceptual understanding of class XI SMA on static fluid material, consisting of Learning Implementation Plans (RPP), Student Worksheets (LKPD), and concept understanding test instruments. The purpose of this research is to produce a valid Novick model-based physics learning device that is used to improve students' conceptual understanding of class XI SMA on static fluid material. This research is expected to be a reference for making innovative learning tools and can be used as a basis in the teaching and learning process so that learning objectives can be achieved. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) using a 4D model. This research is only limited to the development stage. The research instrument used was the RPP validation assessment sheet, LKPD, and the concept understanding test instrument used by the validator to assess learning tools. Data analysis in this study used descriptive analysis, by calculating the validity score of each indicator of the learning device. The results showed that the Novick model-based physics learning device was declared valid with the overall score of the device being 3.37 with a high category, so it was declared feasible to be used for teaching in class XI SMA in an effort to improve students' understanding of students' concepts on static fluid material.Key Words: Physics Learning Tools, Novick Model, conceptual understanding, Static Fluid.

Abstract

Pelaksanaan kegiatan praktikum di laboratorium khususnya pada mata pelajaran IPA masih banyak ditemukan berbagai permasalahan, sehingga pelaksanaannya dinilai belum efektif. Diperlukan kajian terkait persepsi siswa yang dapat dijadikan sebagai bahan perbaikan terhadap pelaksanaan praktikum kedepannya agar menjadi lebih baik. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui persepsi siswa terhadap pelaksanaan praktikum di laboratorium IPA SMP khususnya SMPN dan MTsN di Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi, Riau. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei dengan pendekatan kuantitatif yang melibatkan 96 responden, terdiri dari 48 siswa kelas VIII SMPN 1 Kuantan Hilir dan 48 siswa kelas VIII MTsN 1 Sentosa Jaya. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa angket yang terdiri dari 26 item pernyataan. Setelah data angket dikumpulkan, selanjutnya dilakukan analisis secara deskriptif. Aspek yang dianalisis dalam penelitian ini meliputi persepsi siswa terhadap persiapan praktikum, pelaksanaan praktikum, dan penutupan praktikum. Hasil dari penelitian ini  memperlihatkan bahwa persepsi siswa terhadap pelaksanaan praktikum di laboratorium IPA berada pada kategori baik (72,50%). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa secara umum pelaksanaan praktikum di laboratorium IPA siswa kelas VIII SMPN 1 Kuantan Hilir dan MTsN 1 Sentajo Raya sudah dilaksanakan dengan baik.

Abstract

The importance of practical implementation, especially in science subjects, is challenging for educators, students, and schools. Many findings are related to various obstacles and problems regarding implementing practicum in the laboratory, so the implementation is considered ineffective. This research aims to determine students' perceptions of implementing practicum in the science laboratory. This study used a survey method with a quantitative approach involving 96 respondents, consisting of 48 students in 8th grade at Junior High School 1 Kuantan Hilir and 48 students in 8th grade at Islamic Junior High School 1 Sentajo Raya. The instrument used was a questionnaire consisting of 26 statement items. The data collection technique was done by distributing questionnaires directly and then conducting descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate that students' perceptions of the practical implementation in the science laboratory are in a good category (72.50%). In general, the practical implementation in the science laboratory for grade 8 students at Junior High School 1 Kuantan Hilir and Islamic Junior High School 1 Sentajo Raya has been carried out well. It can be concluded that students have a good perception of the implementation of practicum in the science laboratory.
