Abstract

Hospitals are one of the multi-storey buildings that have a risk of fire, which can come from various sources such as electricity, stoves, as well as storage of flammable materials, such as fuel and medical gas, and power generation facilities such as generators which can cause fires. The aim of this service program is to implement fire prevention measures at the Sembiring General Hospital by holding education sessions for nurses who work there about the use of APAR (Light Fire Extinguisher). Thus, it is hoped that the results of this counseling will be that nurses at Sembiring General Hospital can be effective in using APAR, prevent fires, and have a good understanding of how to save themselves and patients when a fire occurs.

Abstract

Work Related Musculoskeletal Disorder Syndrome (WMSDs) is a group of disorders of muscles, tendons, and nervous system caused by repeated and continuous static loads for a certain period it will cause damage to joints, ligaments, and tendons. The purpose of this research is to find out whether the implementation of the Personal Risk Assessment program has been effective in preventing the risk of musculoskeletal disorders on the loader man at packing plant Solusi Bangun Andalas Inc area, by analyzing the relationship of factors thought to be associated cause WMSDs, namely workload, work posture, repetition, duration, and vibration. This research is quantitative with a cross-sectional method. Data was collected by distributing Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) and Nordic Body Map (NBM) worksheet questionnaires to 30 samples. Data analysis was performed in univariate and bivariate using the Chi-Square test. The results of the workload test with complaints of WMSDs got a p-value of 0.005, work posture with complaints of WMSDs with a result of p 0.004, repetitions with complaints of WMSDs with a result of p 0.013, duration with complaints of WMSDs with a result of 0.008 and vibration with complaints of WMSDs with a result of 0.002, and the conclusion show that the Personal Risk Assessment program is ineffective in preventing WMSDs risk

Abstract

Fatigue means a gradual decrease in efficiency, work capacity and physical endurance, which affects the ability to maintain necessary activities. Many factors contribute to burnout, including environmental conditions, age, workload, working hours, and stress. Among them, work stress is the main problem in hospital HR management and represents overwhelming pressure from internal and external sources. The research used an analytical observation method and a cross-sectional approach, which allows simultaneous measurement of cause and effect variables in the same context. Notoatmodjo defines a cross-sectional study as the study of the dynamic correlation of risk factors and their effects using observational and data collection techniques at a specific point in time. The findings show that there is a relationship between work fatigue and work stress in Grandmed Lubuk Pakam Hospital Bed Ward in 2022 with a P value of 0.024. In addition, 55% of 22 respondents experienced fatigue, while 30 respondents showed signs of stress.

Abstract

The Fourth Industrial Revolution has significantly transformed workplace ergonomics through the integration of advanced technologies such as wearable sensors, artificial intelligence (AI), exoskeletons, and markerless motion capture systems. This literature review aims to examine recent innovations in ergonomic technologies that enhance work efficiency while safeguarding workers’ health and safety. Findings from studies published between 2023 and 2025 indicate that these technologies substantially reduce the risk of work-related musculoskeletal disorders, improve productivity, and enable real-time monitoring of workers’ physical conditions. Wearable sensors and AI-based systems play a crucial role in detecting hazardous postures and providing corrective feedback, whereas exoskeletons effectively reduce biomechanical strain during physically demanding tasks. Despite these promising outcomes, several challenges remain. The adoption of ergonomic technologies is often hindered by limited technical validation, inadequate user training, and ethical issues concerning worker data privacy. Moreover, user acceptance is influenced by factors such as comfort, trust, and perceived usefulness of the technology. Emerging debates also highlight potential risks of workplace discrimination associated with data-driven systems. Consequently, a human-centered design approach is essential to ensure that ergonomic innovations prioritize human well-being rather than solely focusing on operational efficiency. This study concludes that the success of ergonomic technologies in the Industry 4.0 era should be evaluated not only by their contribution to productivity but also by their ability to promote long-term occupational health, safety, and overall worker well-being.
