Abstract

Abstract:  Mapalus is a form of culture that is realized through mutual assistance activities carried out by a community group. Mapalus activities generally have the aim of helping each other among Mapalus members, both in a happy atmosphere (giving thanks for the produce of the earth) and in an atmosphere of sorrow (passing away). The purpose of the dedication that the author is doing is related to Mapalus culture, namely that the Minahasa people will continue to care for and preserve this culture as one of the local wisdoms of the Minahasa people. The method used by the author is socialization and counseling, which are two of the pillars of society. The partners are community groups in one kelurahan, which are represented by 35 heads of households as members of the intended social group. Evaluation is carried out through an activity called kumawus. As a result, only half of the rukun members participate in carrying out Mapalus in the kumawus activities, so the authors try to revitalize the culture for two years until, in the end, all members are involved in kumawus activities. This service activity has a positive impact on increasing the economic value of the family. Keywords: mapalus; culture; local wisdom; the Minahasa people

Abstract

Language is an arbitrary sound-symbolic system used by members of social groups to collaborate, communicate, and identify themselves. The primary function of language is as a means of communication between human beings. (Chaer, 2014). The research entitled “Reconstruction of the Indonesian Wall Dictionary: Makala’i and Matana’i” aims to document the Wall language through dictionaries as a language defense effort. The method used in this research is the qualitative-descriptive method. Data in the form of linguistic data in the Tontwoan language is collected both through the existing Tontwall dictionary and from informants in the field. Next, the data is classified and then analyzed using the opinions of Bogdan and Taylor on qualitative research. Based on the research carried out, the following results were obtained: (1) there is an addition of consonant sounds to a specific word in the Matana’I dialect variation Tontan; (2) there is a minimum pair of certain words in the Tontana’i dialect, so there are differences in vocal sounds and consonants between the Makela’ie dialect and Matana'I dialekt variation; (3) there are defining differences between the dialect variations of Makela'i and the dialectic variation of Matana‘i.
