Abstract

This study aims to understand the role and significance of the Palang Pintu tradition in Betawi wedding ceremonies and its impact amidst modernization and globalization. Utilizing a qualitative research method with a literature study approach, the research relies on secondary data sources such as books, journal articles, documents, and related research reports. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis techniques to identify the main themes and categories from the collected data. The results show that the Palang Pintu tradition remains relevant and valued by the Betawi community, both natives and immigrants. This tradition is seen as an important way to preserve culture, protect families, and serve as a symbol of respect in wedding ceremonies. These findings highlight the importance of maintaining local traditions as an integral part of cultural identity in Indonesia and integrating cultural values into a multi-ethnic society increasingly open to globalization.

Abstract

The revitalization of Islamic education is a strategic step in shaping future leaders with strong character, professional competence, and solid moral values. This study employs a literature review approach to explore the challenges, opportunities, and strategies for revitalizing Islamic education. The findings reveal that Islamic education faces globalization challenges, including moral crises, technological gaps, and the lack of curriculum relevance to contemporary needs. Therefore, integrating Islamic values with modern science and technology, along with innovative teaching methods, is essential. The study also emphasizes the importance of synergy between families, schools, and communities in creating a supportive educational environment. Moreover, government involvement and cross-sector collaboration are key to improving the quality of Islamic education through policy support, infrastructure, and funding. With a holistic and value-based approach, Islamic education can produce leaders with noble character, global competitiveness, and a commitment to serving humanity's welfare.

Abstract

The golden age of the Syafavid and Mughal empires was the main highlight of Islamic civilization, where the political success of the kingdoms also influenced the progress of Islamic education. Islamic education has an important role in maintaining and developing the Islamic identity of a civilization. During the Safavid kingdom, Islamic civilization reached its peak in the fields of art, literature and architecture. The influence of power politics plays a key role in supporting the development of Islamic education by building advanced educational institutions centered on Islamic teachings. Islamic education at that time provided a strong foundation for the intellectuality of Muslims. Meanwhile, the period of Mughal rule also showed the glory of Islamic civilization. Islamic education under Mughal rule experienced significant development, where classical books were translated into local languages to increase access to education for the wider community. Mughal political power gave great impetus to the spread of Islamic science and religion.
