Abstract

This study explores the implementation and perceived effectiveness of contextual teaching supported by regalia in elementary mathematics classes. A qualitative case study approach was adopted, employing in-depth interviews with a fifth-grade mathematics teacher in Blora, Indonesia, as the primary data source. The findings reveal that the integration of contextual teaching with regalia strengthens students’ conceptual understanding, engagement, motivation, and creativity during mathematics learning activities. Regalia enabled students to actively manipulate instructional objects, helping them connect mathematical ideas with real-world contexts. However, the approach presented challenges, including limited availability of instructional media and substantial preparation time required for classroom use. Despite these constraints, the study concludes that contextual teaching using regalia is an effective strategy for improving mathematics learning in elementary schools. The results also provide practical guidance for educators seeking meaningful, hands-on instructional approaches that encourage student participation and deeper understanding.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengintegrasikan kearifan lokal Kalimantan Tengah dalam pembelajaran multikultural guna memperkuat diplomasi pendidikan di Sekolah Indonesia di Kuala Lumpur. Pendekatan ini mengintegrasikan kearifan lokal dengan teknologi imersif (VR) dalam konteks diplomasi pendidikan internasional. Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi mitra adalah masih terbatasnya integrasi budaya lokal dalam pembelajaran serta minimnya pemanfaatan media pembelajaran inovatif yang dapat memperkenalkan kekayaan budaya Indonesia kepada siswa yang berada dalam lingkungan internasional. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, kegiatan pengabdian dilaksanakan melalui pendekatan partisipatif yang meliputi tahapan analisis kebutuhan, pengembangan modul pembelajaran berbasis kearifan lokal, pelatihan guru, implementasi pembelajaran menggunakan media digital, serta evaluasi kegiatan. Media pembelajaran yang dikembangkan meliputi Virtual Reality (VR), flipbook digital, dan video edukatif yang menampilkan budaya Kalimantan Tengah seperti falsafah Huma Betang, tradisi Gawi Hatantiring, dan permainan tradisional Balogo. Novelty kegiatan ini adalah integrasi sistematis nilai-nilai kearifan lokal dengan media pembelajaran digital berbasis pengalaman (immersive learning) untuk memperkuat identitas budaya siswa diaspora dalam lingkungan pendidikan multikultural internasional. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman budaya siswa dengan rata-rata skor meningkat dari 64,2 menjadi 83,5 setelah implementasi pembelajaran. Selain itu, respon positif siswa terhadap penggunaan media pembelajaran digital mencapai 78–86%. Kegiatan ini juga meningkatkan kapasitas guru dalam mengintegrasikan kearifan lokal dalam pembelajaran multikultural. Dengan demikian, integrasi kearifan lokal berbasis teknologi digital dapat menjadi strategi efektif dalam memperkuat identitas budaya siswa sekaligus mendukung diplomasi pendidikan Indonesia di lingkungan internasional. Integration of Local Wisdom in Multicultural Learning to Strengthen Educational Diplomacy in Indonesian Schools in Kuala Lumpur Abstract This community service activity aims to integrate Central Kalimantan local wisdom into multicultural learning to strengthen educational diplomacy at the Indonesian School in Kuala Lumpur. The main problem faced by partners is the limited integration of local culture in learning and the minimal use of innovative learning media that can introduce Indonesia's cultural richness to students in an international environment. To address these problems, the community service activity was implemented through a participatory approach that included the stages of needs analysis, development of local wisdom-based learning modules, teacher training, implementation of learning using digital media, and activity evaluation. The learning media developed included Virtual Reality (VR), digital flipbooks, and educational videos that showcase Central Kalimantan culture such as the Huma Betang philosophy, the Gawi Hatantiring tradition, and the traditional Balogo game. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' cultural understanding with an average score increasing from 64.2 to 83.5 after the implementation of the learning. In addition, students' positive response to the use of digital learning media reached 78–86%. This activity also increased teachers' capacity in integrating local wisdom into multicultural learning. Thus, the integration of local wisdom based on digital technology can be an effective strategy in strengthening students' cultural identity while supporting Indonesia's educational diplomacy in the international environment.
