Abstract

Brain tumor is a disease characterized by the growth of abnormal cells or tissue in the brain. Brain tumors are a condition that needs to be watched out for, but tumors in this part of the central nervous system do not always lead to cancer. One examination that can be used to diagnose is an MRI brain examination. The aim of this research is to analyze the results of MRI brain examination images in cases of brain tumors from axial, sagittal and coronal sections. The method in this research is descriptive qualitative research which is used to determine the results of MRI Brain and MRS examinations in brain tumor cases. The MRI Brain contrast examination procedure in brain tumor cases at the Radiology Installation of Indriati Solo Baru Hospital has been able to establish a diagnosis using the Axial T2 sequence, DWI b-value 1000, Axial T2 FLAIR, Sagittal T1, Axial T1, Axial T2 *GRE, Cor T2, Axial T1 Fat Sat + Contrast, Sagittal T1 Fat Sat + Contrast, and Coronal Fat Sat + Contrast.

Abstract

Background: MR Spectroscopy is a radiological examination using MRS supporting software in the MRI modality that can show the correlation of metabolic or biochemical anatomical and physiological information contained in the body, both in normal and abnormal conditions[1]. MRS is done after a routine brain without contrast or contrast. Proton MR spectroscopy of brain tissue shows the spectral of several metabolites[2]. Some of the main metabolites in brain tissue detected by MRS are NAA, Cholin, Creatinien, and Lipid, Lactate and Myo Inositol. MRS results are in the form of a graph showing the ratio of NAA levels per cholin to the patient's body metabolites and a graph on normal metabolites forming Hunter's angle[3].Methods: This method is a qualitative research with a descriptive approach using comprehensive literatures studies. Results: MRI and MR Spectroscopy examinations in cases of brain disorders will strengthen the diagnosis by looking at changes in the pattern of metabolites in the brain. Some characteristic spectrum patterns can be used as markers of certain diseases, so they can replace biopsy. MR Spectroscopy examination showed that online game addicts had lower levels of NAA concentrations than normal people in the right frontal cortex and lower levels of choline (Cho) in the medial temporal cortex.[4].Conclusion: MR Spectroscopy does not play a role in replacing MRI imaging, but as an addition to non-invasive metabolic information that has a high degree of accuracy for diagnosing abnormalities in brain regions by evaluating spectrum patterns or metabolite ratios.

Abstract

Gadget addiction is one of the negative effects of excessive gadget use. Currently, there are many studies investigating internet addiction using a neuroimaging approach using diagnostic modalities. One of the modalities that can be used is Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). One of the developments in MRI is the Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Imaging or MRS examination. MRS is a radiological examination that uses MRS supporting software in the MRI modality which can show correlations of anatomical and physiological metabolic or biochemical information present in the body, both in normal and abnormal conditions. The purpose of this study was to analyze the results of metabolite values in adolescents with suspected gadget addiction to prevent and support therapeutic research using MRS. The method in this study is descriptive qualitative research used to determine the results of metabolite values in adolescents with suspected gadget addiction to prevent and support therapeutic research using MRS with the single voxel. The sample used is teenagers with suspected gadget addiction. The result of the MRS examination can show the value of metabolites in the adolescent's body. The results of the MRS are in the form of graphs of metabolite values. Normal metabolite values will produce Hunter's Angle. The graph of teenagers with suspected gadget addiction does not form a Hunter's Angle. The values of NAA (5,49), Cho (3,63), Cr (3,65) and Glx (1.06) in adolescents with suspected gadget addiction decreased from the normal values of NAA (10-15), Cho (8), Cr (7) and Glx value (5-10).
