Abstract

ABSTRACT The idea of a Flat Earth in Indonesia became popular along with the development of social media. As one of the most popular social media today, YouTube has the potential to expand the reach of this idea to influence public discourse and recruit followers. This qualitative study aims to analyze the role of YouTube in influencing individual beliefs to convert to being Flat Earthers. The study found that YouTube plays an important role in the process of converting individuals into Flat Earthers. In addition, this study also shows that the claims of religious arguments from this idea, have strengthened individuals to switch beliefs to become Flat Earthers. This religious argument, considered to be in harmony with their holy book. These findings suggest that the YouTube platform has the potential to be a powerful avenue for changing one's beliefs. Keywords: YouTube, Flat Earth, Conversion, Flat Earthers.

Abstract

This paper examines the potential role of Muslim youth as alternative partners in fostering religious moderation at the grassroots level. It identifies two central issues in current religious moderation policies in Indonesia: (1) an overemphasis on programs aimed at security and deradicalization, which overshadow initiatives that encourage harmonious inter- and intra-religious relationships, and (2) a predominantly top-down approach that limits grassroots participation, particularly among young people. These challenges expose gaps in policy strategies and highlight unequal public engagement in religious moderation efforts led by the government. Addressing these concerns, the study proposes alternative policy strategies that actively involve Muslim youth, who bring their own understanding of religious moderation cultivated through participation in various Islamic organizations and youth forums. This study adopts a qualitative research methodology, incorporating data from in-depth interviews with students, academics, and activists; direct observations of interfaith dialogue groups and communities; and document analysis. Fieldwork was conducted in Semarang and Yogyakarta—cities renowned for their robust interfaith dialogue networks and advocacy in Indonesia. The paper ultimately argues that Muslim youth’s active involvement in interfaith dialogue is a viable strategy to expand engagement at the grassroots level, especially among marginalized communities or those disadvantaged by hierarchical religious moderation policies.[Tulisan ini mengkaji peran muda-mudi muslim sebagai mitra alternatif dalam implementasi moderasi beragama di tingkat akar rumput.

Abstract

The availability of accurate and reliable data is essential for organizational sustainability. Business intelligence (BI) enhances an organization's ability to analyze challenges, support decision-making, and improve performance. The term “Business Intelligence System” refers to applications and technologies that facilitate BI activities, including data collection, storage, access, and analysis—thus providing insights into performance and aiding informed decisions. These activities include decision support systems, querying, reporting, OLAP, statistical analysis, forecasting, and data mining. BI applications encompass reporting tools, analytics platforms, dashboards, alerts, and portals, and involve technologies such as data integration, quality management, warehousing, and content analysis. Accordingly, a Business Intelligence System can function as a Decision Support System. This study uses SPSS version 17 for data analysis to evaluate the impact of BI and decision support on decision-making quality in colleges in Jakarta and Bekasi. ANOVA (F-test) results show an F-value of 117.041, exceeding the F-table value of 3.29, with a significance of 0.000 < α = 0.05. Since the calculated F-value surpasses the critical value and the significance level is below 0.05, the null hypothesis is rejected. Thus, BI and decision support significantly and simultaneously influence decision-making quality (Y). These findings highlight the essential role of BI and decision support in improving decision-making within higher education institutions.

Abstract

The current Islamic studies literature focusing on women’s expression in Indonesia remains understudied. It still presents a scholarly challenge for current Islamic studies to address the issue of ideal expressed space for women. This mainly includes women’s positions and roles in society and their concerns about public issues. Addressing this puzzle, this paper aims to analyse how Islam affirmatively can address women’s expression as individuals and members of social groups. This paper employs critical discourse analysis by cultivating theoretical frameworks such as the debate between feminism and Islamic understandings of women. The findings of this study show that the need for inclusive public space for women to express their concerns while keeping their Islamic faith is imminent. This paper also further investigates how three women movements build up their expressed spaces and their impact on society.
