Abstract

Indonesia is known as a country with very high biodiversity, within which are potential medicinal plants that have not been fully explored or utilized. The potential of this natural biodiversity for the health and welfare of  the Indonesian  community  is regarded as high, if it is properly utilized. An example of the potential benefits of these plants is reflected in the types of traditional medicinal plants used by the Mamuju ethnic in West Sulawesi. This research aims to describe the types of plants used as traditional medicines by the Mamuju ethnic group. The study is based on descriptive approach that used a combination of observations, interviews and taxonomy.  The results of the study revealed that there are 31 species of medicinal plants used as sources of traditional medicine by the Mamuju ethnic group, of which there are 33 medical herbs used for the treatment of 31 kinds of diseases. The health issues that are addressed through the use of medicinal plants include the treatment of some types of internal diseases, including cysts, cancer, tumors, high blood pressure, ulcers and diabetes; disease symptoms such as itching, swelling, myopic, new injuries and infections. Some traditional medicines are used in relation to onset of menstruation, and postpartum treatment. The plant components that are used for medicinal purposes include roots, stems, stem bark, leaves, flowers, fruit, seeds, rhizomes and tubers. However, the predominant plant component used for medicinal purposes is plant leaves.

Abstract

DOWNLOAD PDFClassroom action research aims to improving the students' activities and biology learning outcomes through the application of  SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review) method. The subjects were students of VIIIA class at SMP Negeri 1 Lamuru, semester I, 2011/2012 academic years, consisted of 24 students, 13 male and 11 female. The research was carried out into two cycles. Collected data of learning outcomes were analyzed by using quantitative analysis. The results showed that the application of SQ3R method could improve the students' activities and biology learning outcomes. The improvements were shown by findings from cycle I to cycle II, namely: (1) the students' activities showed improvement in asking, reading, finding the pictures from the whole materials, and mentioning the answers, (2) the students' learning outcomes improved from the average score in cycle I was 63.19 to 74.86 in cycle II. In addition, improvement also occurred in a number of the students in mastery learning which in cycle 1 was 41.67% and in cycle II was 83.33%. Based on the findings, it could be concluded that the implementation of SQ3R method improved the students' activities and biology learning outcomes of VIIIA class at SMP Negeri 1 Lamuru.   Key words: Learning activity, learning outcomes, SQ3R method

Abstract

The influence of processing method of tire tuber (Amorphophallus sp.) toward the level of calcium oxalate at Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, State University of Makassar was to finding out the effect of tuber processing methods tire against calcium oxalate and know the best way of processing. This research conducted in experiment central laboratory of the Ministry of Health, Indonesia, and Makassar. This research consisted of the dependent variable in the form of calcium oxalate in the tuber tire and independent variables such as processing methods. Samples were tire tuber (Amorphophallus sp.) processed by boiling it (A1), salt-water immersion (A2), and wood ash (A3). The research data obtained using titrimetry. Data were analyzed using inferential analysis technique and LSD test at 0.05 significance level. Average-content of calcium oxalate of tire tuber weighing one gram for A0, A1, A2, and A3 respectively was 0.056%, 0.008%, 0.034%, and 0.040%. From the data, it appears there was the influence of processing methods, both those treated with boiling water immersion salt and wood ashes, on serum calcium oxalate in the tuber tire. The most effective way of processing was to reduce or minimize calcium oxalate in the tuber tire processing by boiling.

Abstract

Keberadaan Teknologi membantu dan mempermudah kehidupan manusia. Salah satu hasil dari perkembangan teknologi adalah ditemukannya Quick Response (QR) Code. Pemanfaatan QR Code dalam bidang pendidikan dapat menjadi sebuah sarana untuk menyajikan informasi dalam tempat yang terbatas. Botani Tumbuhan Tinggi merupakan salah satu matakuliah wajib pada Jurusan Biologi. Ruang lingkup matakuliah Botani Tumbuhan Tinggi adalah mempelajari konsep taksa, hirarki taksonomi, perkembangan   klasifikasi, sifat-sifat dari    suku-suku dalam Divisi pinophyta dan Magnoliophyta dengan contoh-contohnya terutama yang bermanfaat bagi manusia. Meninjau ruang lingkup dari matakuliah Botani Tumbuhan Tinggi ini, maka cocok untuk diterapkan QR Code dalam pembelajarannya. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam penelitian deskriptif. Penelitian ini akan menyajikan gambaran tanggapan atau respon mahasiswa setelah penggunaan QR Code dalam pembelajaran Botani Tumbuhan Tinggi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Jurusan Biologi  UNM yang terdiri atas 2 kelas yang sementara memprogramkan matakuliah Botani Tumbuhan Tinggi tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Data yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini berupa respon mahasiswa yang diperoleh dari angket yang diedarkan kepada mahasiswa setelah pembelajaran dengan penggunaan QR Code. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa untuk item pernyataan positif, sebagian besar mahasiswa berada pada kategori setuju sedangkan untuk pernyataan negatif, sebagian besar mahasiswa berada pada kategori tidak setuju. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan QR Code dalam pembelajaran Botani Tumbuhan Tinggi direspon secara positif oleh mahasiswa biologi.Kata kunci: Respon mahasiswa, Quick Respon Code,dan Botani Tumbuhan Tinggi

Abstract

This research aims to find out the influence of inquiry and discovery approach toward the biology-learning outcome at grade XI students in SMA Negeri 1 Walenrang. This research was quasy experiment with Posttest Only, Non-Equivqlent Control Group Design. This research was done in SMA Negeri 1 Walenrang by taking two classes as research subjects. They were XI IPA3 as experimen group with 39 students who were tought through inquiry and discovery and XI IPA2­ with 40 students as control group who were tought through expository aproach. The data of the researh was found by giving result test after all the material had been tought. The data was analyzed showed that the result of experiment group was good categorized with average 77,26 were as result of control group was wortcing on categorized with average 71,17. Based on the test by using test data analysis t where P<0,05 so that Ho rejected and H1 was accepted. It showed that there was influence of inquiry and discovery learning approach toward the biology learning outcome at grade XI students in SMA Negeri 1 Walenrang.

Abstract

Identification of Bryophytes (Mosses) plant species have been done. This research was based on morphological characters of mosses at tour location Takapala Waterfal in Malino. The result shows that there are twelve species of Bryophytes, from two classis (Hepaticae and Musci). Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan eksplorasi tumbuhan obat tradisional di kabupaten Majene, Sulawesi Barat. Eksplorasi  dilakukan terhadap jenis-jenis tumbuhan obat dan bagian yang digunakan dalam pengobatan di kabupaten Majene. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi dan identifikasi. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa terdapat 45 jenis tumbuhan obat yang digunakan sebagai obat tradisional, diantaranya terdapat 37 ramuan pengobatan. Tanaman obat yang telah berhasil di eksplorasi umumnya berfungsi untuk mengobati beberapa jenis penyakit seperti; penyakit dalam, penyakit luar, infeksi, vitalitas pria, dan menjarangkan kehamilan (KB). Bagian tumbuhan yang digunakan dalam pengobatan ada 9 yaitu:  akar, batang, kulit batang, daun, bunga, buah, kulit buah, biji, dan umbi. Bagian tumbuhan yang dominan digunakan adalah daun.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar Biologi materi Ekosistem antara siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan menggunakan media Camtasia Studio dengan media Powerpoint pada kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Sungguminasa, Kabupaten Gowa. Subjek penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII B dan VII C SMP Negeri 1 Sungguminasa pada tahun pelajaran 2012/2013 dengan jumlah siswa 35 orang tiap kelas. Pengukuran hasil belajar dilakukan dengan memberikan tes hasil belajar dalam bentuk pilihan ganda dan essay, meliputi pretest dan posttest. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis secara statistik deskriptif dan uji hipotesis secara inferensial dengan menggunakan uji Anakova dengan taraf signifikansi α  = 0,05. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,02 lebih kecil dari α  = 0,05 (0,02 < 0,05), berarti setidaknya ada satu dari enam pasang data hasil belajar yang diuji yang berbeda secara nyata. Hasil uji lanjut menunjukkan nilai pretest kedua kelompok tidak berbeda secara nyata, sedangkan nilai posttest-         nya berbeda secara nyata, di mana nilai signifikansi yaitu 0,040 lebih kecil dari α = 0,05 (0,040 < 0,05), sehingga disimpulkan bahwa ada perbedaan hasil belajar Biologi materi Ekosistem antara siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan menggunakan media Camtasia Studio dengan menggunakan media  Powerpoint pada kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Sungguminasa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keragaman morfologi tumbuhan genus Hydriastele endemik Sulawesi, melalui analisis morfologi pada organ vegetatif maupun organ generatif. Manfaat yang diharapkan dari penelitian ini adalah diperoleh sejumlah informasi ilmiah berbasis data morfologi pada sejumlah spesies tanaman yang masuk ke dalam genus Hydriastele yang merupakan spesies Palmae endemik di Sulawesi. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksplorasi dan identifikasi. Eksplorasi dilakukan di kawasan danau Matano dan identifikasi terhadap karakter morfologi vegetatif dan generatif dilakukan di laboratorium biologi UNM. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa terdapat 4 variasi morfologi Hydriastele yang ditemukan. Dua diantaranya telah diketahui sebagai jenis endemik Sulawesi yaitu Hydriastele kjellbergii dan Hydriastele microspadix, sedangkan satu jenis lainnya yang diusulkan sebagai jenis baru yaitu Hydiastele longipetalae, dan satu jenis lainnya yang mempunyai kemiripan dengan H. longipetalae tapi memiliki variasi warna yang berbeda pada  pelepah, tangkai, dan rachis daun yang berwarna orange kemerahan.

Abstract

This research is including pre experiment with aim to know improvement of activity of biological learning and improvement result of learning through applying of method peer group teaching. Research is done in class X SMA Negeri 3 Makassar at school year odd semester 2008/2009. Research design applied is pretest and post test group design. Before study with method peer group teaching, student is given pretest to know initial ability of student. Research data in the form of student activity is gathered by using observation sheet and data result of learning is gathered by using test result of learning is in the form of multiple choice. Data activity is analysed qualitatively while data result of pretest and post test is analysed with t-test. Result of research indicates that there are improvement significant between result of student learning before and after applying of method peer group teaching as well as existence of improvement of activity of student during study takes place.   Keywords: learning, peer group teaching, learning achievement, student activity
