Abstract

Feeding fish in pond-based aquaculture involves the hand distribution of food by individuals around the pond's perimeter. Farmers utilize boats to achieve extensive food delivery. Technological advancements have facilitated the creation of self-feeder or dement-feeder statistical techniques. This device functions autonomously to provide feed at regular intervals and has a predetermined coverage area at its designated position on the periphery of ponds. Due to its peripheral location, the technology deployment system has limited capacity to distribute feed across the entire pond area, making it less effective for use in big ponds. Hence, it is imperative to develop a solar-powered unmanned boat (Petates) equipped with an Auto Feeder system to regulate the feeding process in shrimp and fish farming. This study aims to develop a solar-powered unmanned boat design for fish and shrimp farming that can efficiently distribute feed across the pond. Additionally, the research aims to assess the impact of feeding machines on the conversion of feed by fish and shrimp. The research results show that the maximum floating weight of the boat is 48.7 kg using two solar-powered electromotor-driven buoys. The boat has a maximum speed acceleration of 2.4 m/s, achieved through a well-balanced and efficient bow acceleration. Experiments were conducted using two distinct feed types: type 781-2 with a diameter ranging from 2.3 to 3 mm, and type 781-3 with a diameter ranging from 3.2 to 4 mm. The throwing distance for the feed is between 8 and 10 meters, and between 7 and 8 meters. The feed spreading rate for each minute is 950 grams and 1,080 grams, with a feed capacity of 7 kilograms and 6 kilograms respectively.

Abstract

Abstract

Palm kernel meal is considered very potential to be used as fish feed because it contains 15.43% crude protein. The problem by aquaculture is the imbalance in income obtained compared to production costs that have been incurred. This is because farmers depend on manufactured feed so that the price of commercial feed issued is high. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of different soybean meal and palm kernel meal feed substitutions on the growth and survival of catfish (Clarias sp). The study used a Completely Randomized Design with 3 treatments and 4 repetitions, consisted of three main treatments, namely: the first treatment (P1) feed based on a ratio of 80% soybean meal with 20% palm kernel meal and the second treatment (P2) feed based on 70% soybean meal and 30% palm kernel meal and (P3) feed based on 60% soybean meal and 40% palm kernel meal...The highest Weight gain value was found in P1 at 71.3 gr, followed by P2 at 51.5 gr, and P3 at 47.6 gr. The results showed that the highest RGR value was found in treatment P1 at 0.3% followed by treatments P2 and P3 at 0.2%. The best Feed Covertion Ratio (FCR) was found in treatment P1 at 4.31, followed by treatment P2 at 5.85 and treatment P3 at 6.22. The highest SR in treatment was found in treatment P1 at 91.7% followed by P2 and P3 at 90%.

Abstract

The application of feeding management is frequency setting of feeding, namely the number of times the feed gave in a day. The farmers generally provide feed in aquaculture activities based on habits without knowing about the nutritional needs of fish, such as quality, quantity and the right time of supply. The weakness of manual feeding is the inaccuracy and efficiency of both the timing of feeding and the amount of feed given to the fish. In order that will be have an impact on the growth and water quality of the culture media. The purpose of this community service activity is for the people in Sibau Hilir village to know and be able to carry out fish farming activities by implementing a renewable automatic feeder technology system. The method used in this activity was focus group discussion (FGD) by conveying information to farmers regarding how was to use fish auto feeder technology with an electric timer system and also demonstrations for the operation of automatic fish feed machine technology. The result of this PPM activity is to increase the ability of fish farmers to master renewable technology in proper, easy, practical, and controlled feed management. The improving the efficiency of fish farming business used appropriate technology that is simple and inexpensive. Based on surveys before and after community service activities regarding automatic feeder technology, it turns out that there has been an increase in understanding and skills from initially not understanding to understanding the use of this technology. In addition, besides the discussions regarding the use of automatic feeder technology, a simple illustration on how to use it to the participants could better understand how the mechanical feeder technology works. The application of automatic feeder machines in cultivation activities expected to improve the skills of cultivators in Sibau Hilir village, thereby increasing the welfare of cultivators.
