Abstract

Preparation of anaerobic-rod cellulolytic bacteria with coating technique has been conducted. Steps of the processes involved were cultivation, coating, evaporation, and drying. Coating agent used was Gum Arabic, and drying techniquesconducted were freeze drying and sun drying. pH of culture media was firstly optimized to obtain the maximal population ofbacteria. Both coated and uncoated preparates were subjected to drying. Morphological and Gram type identifications showed that uncoated preparate dried with freeze drying is not contaminated (ie. all bacteria are rod shape with Gram-negative type) while the one dried with sun drying is not morphologically pure (ie. containing of both rod and coccus shapes with Gram negative and positive). The coated preparates dried by both freeze and sun drying, were not contaminated (ie. all are rods with Gram-negative). The coating and drying processes decreased viability of preparates significantly. However, the decreasing of viability of coated preparate are lower than uncoated preparate (ie. 89 vs. 97%). Total count of bacteria in sun-drying coated preparate are higher (P<0.05) than the uncoated preparate (ie. 3.38 x 1010 vs.  1.97 x 1010 colony/g DM). Activity of sun-drying coated preparate to digest elephant grass and rice straw was higher (P<0.01) than the sun-drying uncoated preparate with the in vitro DMD values were 42.7 vs. 35.5% for elephant grass substrate and 29.3 vs. 24.6% for rice straw substrate. Therefore, it is concluded that coating technique has a positive effects on the preparation of rumen bacteria.   Key words : Anaerobic bacteria, coating, drying

Abstract

In recent years, arise many tourism villages in Indonesia. Government through the Ministry of Village, Development of Underdeveloped Regions, and Transmigration and the Ministry of Tourism, continue to support the development of tourism villages in Indonesia. It proved that the tourism village programmed able to increase its resident welfare. Dusun Dusun Wangun in Gunung Puntang Bandung West Java is well known as a coffee-producing village. Puntang Coffee produced by Dusun Wangun is quite famous, it even won the first place in SCAA Atlanta United States. In fact, the village is also designed as a tourism village. However, its role as a tourism village rarely been heard. Whereas, that village has a lot tourism potential that can be highlighted and developed. Based on the description above, the researcher wants to find out what problems might hamper the development of Dusun Wangun as a tourism village. Researchers also want to gather information to understand the advantages and disadvantages possessed by Dusun Wangun as a tourism village. To assist the analysis, researchers used Porter Five Forces Analysis to answer research questions. The research data were obtained from interviews with residents and tourists who had visited Dusun Wangun. Data is collected to find out the strengths, weaknesses, suggestions, and other opinions to improve the competitiveness of Dusun Wangun. Hopefully, in the future, the results of this research can be used to determine the most appropriate strategy or solution to develop tourism in Dusun Wangun. Abstract

Water quality research has been done along Krueng Daroy in Banda Aceh. The research is aimed to observe water quality based on physical parameters and to identify the sources of pollutant spatially. We measured temperature, turbidity, color, pH, odor, TDS and electrical conductivity, where the data were collected using thermometer, turbidity meter, spectrophotometer, pH meter, TDS meter and conductivity meter, respectively. The physical parameters of water in the upstream area fulfilled the standard of the Health Minister of Republic Indonesia according to law Number 907/ MENKES/ SK/VII/2002 and it is suitable for household needs. However, the water at the downstream area are mostly polluted

Abstract

Latar belakang dalam penelitian ini adalah Kurangnya keterampilan proses sains mahasiswa, karena mahasiswa kesulitan dalam memahami tahapan-tahapan prosedur kerja dan kesulitan dalam mengoperasikan alat-alat yang digunakan pada percobaan sintesis etil asetat. Hal ini disebabkan dalam penutun praktikum tidak dilengkapi dengan gambar. Kekurangan pada penuntun praktikum dapat di atasi dengan memberikan sebuah media pembelajaran, yaitu media flash. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat perbedaan keterampilan proses sains mahasiswa dari sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan media flash. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu pre-experimental, dengan rancangan penelitian “One-Group Pretest-Posttest” yang dilaksanakan sebelum dan sesudah diterapkan media flash. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Kimia Universitas Muhammadiyah Pontianak angkatan 2013 dengan jumlah 34 mahasiswa. Teknik yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik pengukuran. Teknik pengukuran digunakan untuk mengukur keterampilan proses sains melalui tes tertulis. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat perbedaan keterampilan proses sains mahasiswa dari sebelum dan sesudah diterapkan media flash yaitu dari 76,32% menjadi 95,32%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media flash dapat meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Kimia Universitas Muhammadiyah Pontianak angkatan 2013 khususnya percobaan sintesis etil asetatThis study was initiated by the lack of the students’ science process skills and the difficulty in comprehending the stages of work procedures and in operating the lab tools used in synthesis of ethyl acetate experiment. These problem were caused experiment module was not included related pictures. However, it can be overcome by providing a flash learning media. This study aimed at figuring out the difference of students’ science process skills before and after implementing flash media. The research was conducted using pre-experimental research using "One-group pretest-posttest" design. About 34 students of Chemistry Education in Academic Year 2013, UM Pontianak participated in this study. The technique used in this study was measurement technique. The measurement used to measure the science process skills through written tests. The study revealed that there was difference of students’ process skills before (76.32%) and after  (95.32%) the application of  flash media. Hence, it is concluded that flash media significantly enhance the students’ science process skills, particularly on the synthesis of ethyl acetate experiment
