Abstract

Father involvement in child care is very important for child development. Based on several studies, father involvement can affect child development. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of how the involvement of working fathers in providing care for children who have dyslexia. The method used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The research participants were three fathers. Data obtained through interviews with openended questions via zoom. The result showed that the three participants still took their time to be involved in parenting, then on the other hand, it was also found that the difficulties experiences by fathers in caring for dyslexic children were due to limited interaction communication skills and behavioral issues of dyslexic children.

Abstract

Neurodevelopmental Disorder (NDD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder related to the functioning of the nervous system and brain. Parents of children with NDD experience increased stress in managing various daily chores and activities such as feeding, autonomy, leisure, and schooling of the child. However, some parents cope very well and derive great benefits from their parenting role. Several studies have found a variety of benefits for parents while caring for their children. Caregivers who reported positive aspects had better health, fewer depressive symptoms, higher parenting competence and greater family adjustment. This study is a qualitative study with a phenomenological approach that aims to find out the positive aspects that parents feel while caring for children with a diagnosis of neurodevelopmental disorder. Parents with children diagnosed with NDD (N=3) underwent a semi-structured interview process after agreeing to informed consent. The results of the study showed that the positive aspects experienced by parents during parenting were feeling the child as a source of happiness, receiving support from the community, and increased spirituality

Abstract

First-year master's students in psychology face a transitional period with various challenges, including academic demands, social adjustments, and adaptation to a new environment, particularly for those living away from home for the first time. This study aims to describe participants' experiences and interpretations of social support during this period. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed to explore the issue in depth. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews based on the theory of social support. The participants consisted of four first-year Master of Psychology students at Padjadjaran University, aged 18–25 years, who recently moved from their hometowns outside Java Island after completing their undergraduate studies, and were living independently in rented accommodations. The findings revealed that participants received and interpreted various forms of social support both on and off campus. Tangible support from friends, such as transportation assistance or companionship when sick, provided relief and convenience. Having support from parents and close friends, either in person or virtually, creates a sense of comfort and acceptance. Friendship groups also played a role in fostering social inclusion. Self-esteem support from parents, expressed through pride in the participants' achievements, enhanced their sense of worth. Appraisal support, including guidance and advice from parents, helps participants navigate challenges during their studies. Overall, these forms of social support played a crucial role in helping participants manage academic and personal challenges, contributing significantly to their adaptation and well-being as master's students living away from home.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran kepuasan kebutuhan psikologis dasar sebagai mediator dalam hubungan antara penggunaan aktif Instagram dan kesejahteraan psikologis remaja. Partisipan penelitian berjumlah 269 remaja berusia 13–17 tahun (laki-laki = 89, perempuan = 180; M = 15.12; SD = 1.51) yang seluruhnya memiliki akun Instagram. Penggunaan aktif Instagram diukur menggunakan Passive and Active Use Measure (PAUM), kesejahteraan psikologis remaja diukur dengan Mental Health Inventory (MHI-38) dan kepuasan kebutuhan psikologis dasar diukur dengan Basic Psychological Need Satisfaction Frustration Scale (BPNSFS). Hasil analisis mediasi menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan aktif Instagram berhubungan positif dengan kesejahteraan psikologis remaja, dengan kepuasan kebutuhan psikologis dasar sebagai mediator parsial (direct effect = .24, p < .001; indirect effect = .22, p < .001; total effect = .46, p < .001). Temuan ini mengungkapkan bahwa keterlibatan aktif remaja di Instagram dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan psikologis mereka, baik secara langsung maupun melalui pemenuhan kebutuhan psikologis dasar. Implikasi dari hasil ini adalah bahwa fasilitasi keterlibatan aktif dan bermakna remaja di Instagram dapat menjadi strategi penting untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan psikologis mereka.

Abstract

Ibu yang mengasuh anak dengan Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) dihadapkan dengan tuntutan dan tanggung jawab yang lebih berat dibanding mengasuh anak typical, karena memunculkan interaksi yang kompleks, seperti kesulitan memahami isyarat verbal dan nonverbal serta keterbatasan ekspresi emosional anak. Hal ini dapat meningkatkan tingginya parenting stress. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendapatkan data empiris untuk mengetahui apakah gratitude dan social support suami dapat memprediksi parenting stress pada ibu dengan anak ASD. Partisipan terdiri dari 103 ibu dengan anak ASD berusia 6-12 tahun, memiliki surat keterangan diagnosa dari dokter atau psikolog, tinggal serumah dengan suami, yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan Parental Stress Scale (PSS), Gratitude Questionnaire-6 (GQ-6), dan skala social support suami. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa social support suami memprediksi parenting stress ibu secara signifikan sedangkan efek gratitude tidak signifikan secara statistik. Secara umum, model dapat menjelaskan 11.30% varians dari parenting stress. Temuan ini memberikan dampak praktis bagi strategi pengasuhan anak ASD dengan tujuan meminimalisir parenting stress pada ibu yang umumnya merupakan caregiver utama. Abstract

Literasi rumah berperan penting dalam perkembangan bahasa anak, terutama di wilayah pedesaan dengan akses literasi terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan menjelaskan praktik literasi rumah pada keluarga pedesaan serta bagaimana gender memengaruhi perkembangan kosakata reseptif anak usia dini. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus, melibatkan tiga ibu di wilayah pedesaan Jatinangor. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur dan observasi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan analisis tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan lima tema utama: rutinitas literasi, akses bahan bacaan, respons anak, perkembangan kosakata sehari-hari, dan dinamika emosional-gender. Anak perempuan cenderung lebih verbal dan responsif, sementara anak laki-laki membutuhkan pendekatan yang lebih fleksibel. Perbedaan ini dipengaruhi karakter individu dan pola asuh berbasis gender. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya program literasi rumah yang sensitif gender dan sesuai konteks pedesaan untuk mendukung perkembangan bahasa anak di pedesaan.
