ABSTRACT Background Premature babies are babies born before 37 weeks of gestation. Immaturity in organ systems impacts the survival of the baby because of the abnormalities that accompany it. Therefore, babies must be treated in a special care room, especially in the Neonatal Intensive Car Unit (NICU) to get proper therapy and care. Every day babies who are admitted to the NICU undergo several procedures and some of the procedures cause pain and stress to the baby. Minimizing pain in infants undergoing invasive procedures is not effective with pharmacology but is effective with non pharmacological techniques. Several effective measures that can provide sensory stimulation, one of which is Kangoroo Mother Care (KMC). Purpose This study aims to determine the effect of KMC on pain reduction during invasive procedures in premature infants in the NICU room. Method Literature research uses computerized data based, namely through Google Scholar, Pubmed and Science Direct which is published in English with keywords: Kangoroo, Mother Care, Pain, preterm neonate Result The results of 5 search articles stated that there was an effect of KMC on pain reduction during invasive procedures in premature infants with a minimum of 15 minutes of KMC before an invasive procedure was carried out. Conclusion Premature babies who received KMC before the blood collection procedure experienced a smaller pain response compared to preterm infants who did not undergo KMC before the procedure.
