Abstract

Background: Caries is one of the serious health problems, especially in elementary school students. According to Riskesdas in 2018, Indonesian children aged 5-6 years categorized in severe early childhood caries. After the covid cases have decreased in Indonesia , health promotion was held again in the school. Storybook is one of the media that can be used for health promotion in children, with attractive storyline and pictures as well. Purpose: To identify the influence of “Si Gilang dan Ramuan Ajaib'' 3D Pop-Up storybook in the OHI-S, DMFT, dmft index, dental health knowledge and behavior of grade 1 students at SDN Bakalankrajan 2. Methods: This was a numerical comparative study with a cross-sectional approach. The population were grade 1  elementary school students in SDN Bakalankrajan 2 in Malang. Results: After 3D Pop-Up storybook intervention twice time and after 30 days follow-up, there is a change in the OHIS, DMFT, dmft, knowledge and tooth brushing behavior compare to the score before intervention. The OHIS index has increased (p=0,000), DMFT index has decreased (p=0,974), the dmft index have increase quite high (p=0,106),  knowledge level and tooth brushing behavior has increased on average quite well (p=0,024). Conclusion: Education intervention using a 3D pop-up children's storybook entitled "Si Gilang dan  Ramuan Ajaib" and introducing a 21-day morning and night toothbrush calendar to students contributed to increasing the oral hygiene index (OHIS), decreasing the caries index in permanent teeth (DMFT), increasing caries index in deciduous teeth (dmft), increasing dental health knowledge level and toothbrushing behavior of grade 1 students of SDN Bakalan Krajan 2.

Abstract

Backgrounds: Demineralized freeze-dried bovine bone synthesized in nanoparticle size is expected to improve the osteoinductive of chitosan hydrogel as bone regeneration material. Therefore, an evaluation was carried out on whether this material can affect swelling as one of the physical properties of the hydrogel. Objective: To determine the swelling potential test of the hydrogel composite with varying concentrations of Demineralized Freeze-Dried Bovine Bone Nanoparticle (DFDBB-Np). Methods: The chitosan hydrogels at DFDBB-Np concentrations of 0%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%, and 2.5% are incubated in sterile water at 37°C for varying durations (3, 6, 12, 24 hours) until swelling occurs. The equilibrium Swelling Ratio (SR) is calculated as the ratio of the swelling to the initial weight. Results: After 24 hours of incubation, a significant difference was observed between concentrations of 0% and 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%, and 2.5% (sig = 0.015, 0.004, 0.000, 0.001, 0.000). However, other concentrations and duration did not show any significant difference. Conclusion: DFDBB-Np retains its potential as a composite material with chitosan hydrogel for bone regeneration.

Abstract

Introduction: Indonesia currently still has a high incidence of dental and oral health problems. Based on the 2018 National Basic Health Research (Riskesdas), it was stated that as many as 57.6% of Indonesians have dental and oral problems. Dental and oral problems that are often found include malocclusion. Malocclusion has two basic causes, namely intrinsic factors and extrinsic factors. One example of an intrinsic factor is nutritional status. Nutritional status generally affects the growth and development of the body and especially the growth and development of teeth and mouth. Stunting (poor nutritional status) can cause tooth malformation, high prevalence of caries, easy injury to soft tissue, malocclusion of teeth, inhibited development of facial and jaw bones, and the presence of crowded teeth. Objective: To analyze the development of malocclusion events related to stunting. Method: This study uses a bibliometric analysis method using R software, from 159 journals obtained from the Scopus database in the period 2004-2024. Results: This study found that stunting (short nutritional status) can cause malocclusion in children of growth age. It was also found that the most common malocclusion in children is crowded teeth. Conclusion: From the bibliometric analysis conducted, in-depth insights were found regarding topic trends in research on malocclusion events related to stunting, an increase in the number of publications and research trends from year to year continue to develop, with various new topics and approaches emerging.
