Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada atau tidaknya perbedaan yang berarti dalam kemampuan menulis antara siswa yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) dan siswa yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan teknik menulis yang konvensional. Rancangan dari penelitian ini yaitu Post-test Only Control Group Design. Populasi yang digunakan yaitu siswa kelas delapan di SMP Negeri 6 Singaraja. 72 siswa dipilih sebagai subjek penelitian dengan menggunakan teknik random sampling. Hasil dari analisis memperlihatkan bahwa ada perbedaan yang berarti dalam kemampuan menulis antara siswa yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) dan siswa yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan teknik menulis yang konvensional (tobs = -7.022, Sig. 0.001) dimana siswa yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) memiliki kemampuan menulis yang lebih baik.Kata Kunci : picture word inductive model, kemampuan menulis This study was aimed at investigating whether or not there was a significant difference in writing competency between the students taught by using Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) and those taught by using conventional writing technique. Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menginvestigasi 1) hubungan antara kecerdasan majemuk dengan prestasi akademik siswa dan 2) kecerdasan majemuk yang paling dapat memprediksi prestasi akademik siswa. Desain dari penelitian ini menggunakan ex post facto dengan analisis korelasi. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah162 siswa yang dipilih secara acak dari siswa semester 2 Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha. Multiple Intelligences kuisoner yang diadopsi dari McKenzie (1999) dan Armstrong (2009) digunakan untuk memperoleh data dari kecerdasan majemuk siswa, sementara itu nilai prestasi akademik siswa diperoleh melalui KHS. Uji korelasi Spearman’s rho digunakan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kecerdasan majemuk dengan prestasi akademik siswa. Hasilnya menunjukan bahwa kecerdasan verbal-linguistic, musical, visual-spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, intrapersonal, interpersonal, naturalistic, dan existential mempunyai hubungan yang positive dengan prestasi akademik siswa. Sementara itu, kecerdasan logical-mathematical tidak mempunyai hubungan dengan prestasi akademik siswa. Lebih lanjut lagi, secara berurutan, kecerdasan yang paling bisa memprediiksi prestasi akademik siswa. adalah (1) verbal-linguistic, (2) existential dan (3) intrapersonal.Kata Kunci : kecerdasan majemuk, prestasi akademik The purpose of this study is to investigate (1) the correlation among multiple intelligences and students’ academic achievement and (2) the most predictive intelligences of academic achievement. The design of this study was ex-post facto with a correlational analysis. Sample was 162 students randomly selected from the second semester of English Education Department, Ganesha University of Education. The Multiple Intelligences Questionnaire adopted from McKenzie (1999) and Armstrong (2009) was used to collect the data of the students’ multiple intelligences, while the data of academic achievement was collected through GPA document. Spearman’ rho correlation was used to investigate the correlation among multiple intelligences and students’ academic achievement. The results indicate that verbal-linguistic, musical, visual-spatial, bodily-kinaesthetic, intrapersonal, interpersonal, naturalistic, and existential intelligence have positive and significant correlation with students’ academic achievement. Whereas, logical-mathematical intelligence has no significant correlation to academic achievement. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki (1) perbedaan implementasi pendekatan ilmiah di SMP Negeri 4 Singaraja berdasarkan Kurikulum 2013 dan (2) keyakinan guru bahasa Inggris pada pelaksanaan pendekatan ilmiah di SMP Negeri 4 Singaraja berdasarkan Kurikulum 2013. Subjek penelitian ini adalah dua guru bahasa Inggris di SMP Negeri 4 Singaraja. Sedangkan objek penelitian ini adalah rencana pembelajaran yang dirancang oleh guru bahasa Inggris dan pelaksanaan pendekatan ilmiah berdasarkan kurikulum 2013. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian evaluasi yang menggunakan Model Evaluasi Provus yang dikembangkan oleh Malcolm M. Provus. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi dengan menggunakan checklist sebagai standar dan wawancara dengan menggunakan pedoman wawancara. Hasil evaluasi pelaksanaan pendekatan ilmiah tentang rencana pembelajaran dan pengajaran bahasa Inggris di SMP Negeri 4 Singaraja menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan yang kebanyakan ditemukan pada tahap menanya dan mengkomunikasikan dari pendekatan ilmiah berdasarkan kurikulum 2013. Selanjutnya, guru bahasa Inggris percaya bahwa pendekatan ilmiah tidak sesuai dilaksanakan dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris tetapi lebih tepat dalam Sains. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada perbedaan pada rencana pembelajaran yang dirancang serta pelaksanaan. Mungkin itu disebabkan oleh keyakinan guru pada kurikulum 2013.Kata Kunci : pendekatan ilmiah, kurikulum 2013, perbedaan This study aimed at investigating (1) discrepancy of scientific approach implementation in SMP Negeri 4 Singaraja based on Curriculum 2013 and (2) English teachers’ belief on the scientific approach implementation in SMP Negeri 4 Singaraja based on Curriculum 2013. The subjects of this study were two English teachers in SMP Negeri 4 Singaraja. While the objects of the research were the lesson plan designed by the English teachers and the scientific approach implementation based on curriculum 2013. This study was an evaluation study which used Provus Discrepancy Model developed by Malcolm M. Provus. The data was collected through observation by using checklist as the standard and interview by using interview guide. The results of evaluation of the scientific approach implementation on lesson plan and teaching English in SMP Negeri 4 Singaraja showed that there were discrepancies found mostly in questioning and communicating steps of scientific approach based on curriculum 2013. Furthermore, English teachers believed that scientific approach is not appropriate implemented in English but it is more appropriate in Science. It can be concluded that there were discrepancies on the lesson plans designed as well as the implementations. Abstract

This research aims at investigating (1) the contribution of students’ self-efficacy toward students’ speaking achievement, (2) the contribution of students’ anxiety toward students’ speaking achievement, and (3) the contribution of students’ self-efficacy and anxiety toward students’ speaking achievement at eighth grade students in SMP N 1 Denpasar. This research used ex-post facto research design. The population of this research was the eighth grade students of SMP N 1 Denpasar. 75 students were selected as sample of this research by using simple random sampling technique. The data were collected by employing Self-Efficacy Questionnaire, Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale, and Speaking Documentation. The data showed that the students’ self-efficacy, anxiety, and speaking achievement are categorized in the moderate level. The collected data were analyzed by using simple and multiple regression. The result of analysis showed that: (1) there is contribution of students’ self-efficacy toward students’ speaking achievement at 53.1%, (2) there is contribution of students’ anxiety toward students’ speaking achievement at 9.8%, and (3) there is contribution of students’ self-efficacy and anxiety toward students’ speaking achievement at 56.2%. In detail, the effective contribution of self-efficacy is 50.27% and effective contribution anxiety is 5.92% toward students’ speaking achievement.keyword : Anxiety, Self-Efficacy, and Speaking Achievement

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti adanya pengaruh Contextual picture series technique terhadap kompetensi menulis siswa. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI dan sampel dari penelitian ini adalag 34 siswa dari kelas XI di SMK TI BALI GLOBAL Singaraja dipilih sebagai sampel melalui teknik cluster random sampling. Desain dari penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan posttest only control group design.. Perlakuan diberikan selama 9 kali pertemuan. Instumen dari peneitian ini adalah analitikal skoring rubric. posttest diberikan kepada siswa di akhir pertemuan untuk mengumpulkan data. Hasil posttest dianalisis secara deskriptif dan inferensial menggunakan t-test. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kelompok eksperimen menunjukkan kompetensi menulis yang lebih baik dari pada control grup. Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa contextual picture series technique memiliki efek yang positif pada kompetensi menulis siswa. Kata Kunci : Contextual Picture Series, Kompetensi Menulis This study aimed at investigating the effect of contextual picture series technique towards students’ writing competency. The population of this study was the students of class XI and the sample was 34 students’ of eleventh grade of students at SMK TI BALI GLOBAL Singaraja were selected as the sample trough cluster random sampling technique. The research design was posttest only control group design. Treatment was given for 9 times of meeting. The instrument of this study was analytical scoring rubric. A posttest was given to the students at the end of experiment to collect the data of students writing competency. The result of posttest was analyzed descriptively and inferentially by using t-test. The result of this study showed that experimental group performed better in writing rather that control group. So, it can be concluded that contextual picture series technique has an effect on students writing competency. keyword : Contextual Picture Series, Writing Competency

Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah penelitian korelasi dengan rancangan penelitian ex-post facto yang bertujuan untuk menguji (1) pengaruh antara status sosial ekonomi terhadap prestasi bahasa Inggris, (2) pengaruh antara motivasi berprestasi terhadap prestasi bahasa Inggris, dan (3) pengaruh antara status social ekonomi dan motivasi berprestasi terhadap prestasi dari siswa kelas XII SMA Negeri di Denpasar pada tahun ajaran 2013/2014. Rancangan penelitian ex-post facto¬ adalah rancangan penelitian yang menguji hubungan antara variable-variabel bebas dan sebuah variable terikat dengan (1) memilih sampel, (2) merancang dan mengembangkan kuisioner, (3) menyebar kuisioner, (4) menganalisis hasil yang diperoleh, dan (5) membuat kesimpulan. Penelitian ini dibatasi pada siswa kelas XII SMA Negeri pada semester pertama di Denpasar, yaitu SMA Negeri 1 Denpasar, SMA Negeri 2 Denpasar, SMA Negeri 3 Denpasar, SMA Negeri 4 Denpasar, SMA Negeri 5 Denpasar, dan SMA Negeri 8 Denpasar. Sampel dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik class random sampling yaitu 430 siswa di 12 kelas dari 6 sekolah tersebut. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara kuantitatif, yaitu analisis deskriftif dan inferensial Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa (1) tidak ditemukan pengaruh yang signifikan dari status sosial ekonomi terhadap prestasi bahasa Inggris siswa; (2) terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari motivasi berprestasi terhadap prestasi Bahasa Inggris siswa sebesar 9,2%; dan (3) terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari status sosial ekonomi dan motivasi berprestasi secara bersama-sama terhadap pretasi belajar siswa sebesar 9,82%. Kata Kunci : Motivasi Berprestasi, Prestasi Bahasa Inggris, Status Sosial Ekonomi This study was a correlational study with ex-post facto research design, which aimed at examining (1) the contribution between socioeconomic status on English achievement, (2) the contribution between achievement motivation on English achievement, and (3) the contribution between socioeconomic status and achievement motivation on English achievement of the twelfth grade students of first semester of public senior high schools in Denpasar in academic year 2013/2014. Ex-post facto research design was a research design to investigate the correlation between independent variables and dependent variable by (1) selecting the sample, (2) designing and developing the questionnaires, (3) distributing the questionnaires, (4) analyzing the obtained data, and (5) drawing the conclusion. This study was restricted to the twelfth grade students of first semester at six public senior high schools in Denpasar, namely SMA Negeri 1 Denpasar, SMA Negeri 2 Denpasar, SMA Negeri 3 Denpasar, SMA Negeri 4 Denpasar, SMA Negeri 5 Denpasar, and SMA Negeri 8 Denpasar. The sample of the study was chosen by using class random sampling technique that was 430 students in 12 classes of six schools. The obtained data was analyzed quantitatively by using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. This study discovered that: (1) there was no significant contribution of socioeconomic status on English achievement of the students; (2) there was a significant contribution of achievement motivation on English achievement of the students as much as 9.2%; and (3) there was a significant contribution of socioeconomic status and achievement motivation on English achievement of the students as much as 9.82%. keyword : Achievement Motivation, English Achievement, Socioeconomic Status
