Abstract

Abstract:The objective of the research was to find out whether teaching writing hortatory exposition text through Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) is effective or not. It was also designed to find out how significant the effectiveness of teaching writing hortatory exposition text through the use of TBLT is. The research was carried out at SMAN 2 Pontianak. It was a quasi experimental research. The subjects of the research were the eleventh grade students of XI IPA 2 and XI IPA 4. Data analysis showed that experimental group outperformed control group. It was also found that although there was a difference between the students’ mean score of pre-test and post-test of control group in favor of the traditional approach, this difference was not statistically significant. Therefore, it was concluded that TBLT was more effective in teaching writing hortatory exposition text compared to the traditional approach. Keywords: hortatory exposition text, writing, TBLT Abstrak:Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah pengajaran menulis teks hortatory exposition melalui Pengajaran Bahasa Berbasis Tugas (TBLT) efektif atau tidak. Penelitian ini juga dirancang untuk mengetahui seberapa besar efektivitas pengajaran menulis teks hortatory exposition melalui pendekatan TBLT. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMA Negeri 2 Pontianak. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi experimental. Subyek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI IPA 2 XI dan XI IPA 4. Analisis data menunjukkan bahwa kelompok eksperimen mengungguli kelompok kontrol.Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa meskipun ada perbedaan antara skor rata-rata siswadari pre-test dan post-test dari kelompok kontrol yang mendukung pendekatan tradisional, perbedaan ini tidak signifikan secara statistik. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa TBLT lebih efektif dalam pengajaran menulis teks hortatory exposition dibandingkan dengan pendekatan tradisional. Karena ES terletakdiantara 0.2 dan 0,8olehkarenaitudikategorikansebagaimodeart. Dengandemikian Climbing Grammar Mountain Game terbuktisebagaiteknik yang baikterutamauntukpengajaran Simple Present Tense dalammengungkapkankegiatansehari-hari. Kata kunci: Climbing Grammar Mountain Game Abstract :This research aims to investigatethe effective size of Climbing Grammar Mountain Game as a technique to reinforce the students mastery of Simple Present Tense in positive statement, negative statement, and question. The subject of this research is year-5 students; class VA of SDS KarunaSingkawang. This class consists of 32 students. This study was pre-experimental. The data were collected through written test in form of multiple choices. Based on the data analysis, the effect size ( ES ) is 0.67. Since it is between 0.2 and 0.8, the effect size is categorized as moderate. Therefore, Climbing Grammar Mountain Game is proved as an effective technique to reinforce the mastery of Simple Present Tense. Keywords: Climbing Grammar Mountain Game

Abstract

Abstract: This research is held to improve the studentsability in writing recount text, especially in organizing ideasthroughTravel Map as media. It is a Classroom Action Research which is conducted in three cycles. The subject of this research is Grade VIII, numbering 39 students. The data is collected by using observation checklist, fieldnote, and test. The data is analyzed by describing the observation checklist and fieldnote, and by using formula of mean score. The results indicate the studentswriting ability in recount text improve in three cycles through Travel Map as media. Key words: Writing,Travel Map, Recount Text Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks recount, khususnya dalam mengorganisir ide melalui Travel Map (peta perjalanan) sebagai media. Penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah Kelas VIII, yang berjumlah 39 siswa. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui ceklis observasi, catatan lapangan, dan tes. Data tersebut dianalisa dengan mendeskripsikan ceklis observasi dan catatan lapangan, dan menggunakan rumus mencari nilai rata-rata. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks recount meningkat dalam 3 siklus melaluiTravel Map (peta perjalanan) sebagai media. Kata kunci: Menulis, Peta Perjalanan, TeksRecount

Abstract

Abstrak: Tujuandaripenelitianiniadalahuntukmenemukankeefektifanteknik Idea-DetailsdalampengajaranmenulisteksProseduruntuksiswakelastujuh di MTs Negeri 1 Pontianak padatahunajaran 2013/2014.Penelitianinimenggunakan Pre Experimental dalambentuk one group pretest and posttest desain. Penulismenggunakanrancanganacakkelompokdanmengambilkelas VII A untukmenjadicontohpenelitian yang terdiridari 42 siswa. Data dikumpulkanmenggunakanteknikpengukurandalambentuktesmenulis. Setelah pretest dan posttest, hasil-hasilsiswadalammenulisteksprosedurdianalisisdenganrumus Effect Size (ES). Penemuanmenunjukkanefek size perlakuanadalah 1.17. Inidikategorikansebagaiefek size yang besarkarena ES>0.8. Dengandemikian, dapatdisimpulkanbahwamengajarmenulisteksProsedurdenganmenggunakanteknik Idea-Details berhasilsecaraefektifdalammeningkatkanhasilkemampuanmenulissiswa. Kata Kunci: teknik Idea-Details, teksProsedur   Abstract: The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of Idea-Details technique in teaching Procedure text writing for seventh grade students of MTs Negeri 1 Pontianak in academic Year 2013/2014. This research used Pre Experimental in one group pre-test post-test design. The writer used random cluster sampling to determine the participant of research. A class as part of population was taken randomly, and class VII A was taken as sample of this research which comprising of 42 students. The data was collected by using measurement technique in form of writing test. After pretest, the teacher applied the treatment. Finally, the last step was distributing the posttest. The students’ results of pre-test and post-test in writing Procedure text were analyzed by Effect Size (ES) formula. The findings showed the effect size of treatment was 1.17. It was categorized as large (ES > 0.8). Thus, teaching Procedure text writing by using Idea-Details technique was large effectively in increasing students’ writing achievement. Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini merupakan sebuah studi kasus pada mahasiswa semester tujuh di kelas Seminar on ELT tahun ajaran 2013/2014. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan mahasiswa dalam paraphrase, masalah yang dihadapi dalam memparaphrase dan penyebab permasalahan dalam paraphrase. Partisipan penelitian ini berjumlah 13 orang. Data diperoleh dari tes paraphrase, kuesioner and interview. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 76,92%  paraphrase mahasiswa termasuk dalam kategori tidak memuaskan. Dari hasil test ditemukan bahwa 76,92% mahasiswa melakukan kesalahan dalam  mengubah susunan ide yang menyiratkan bahwa mereka memiliki masalah dalam mengubah susunan ide, semetara 76,92% responden kuesioner and 80% mahasiswa yang diinterview memilih mengubah kata sebagai masalah mereka dalam paraphrase. Perbedaan hasil dari setiap instrument penelitian disebabkan oleh kurangnya pemahaman mengenai kriteria paraphrase yang baik. Kemudian, kurang menguasai kosakata and pemahaman mengenai paraphrase ditemukan sebagai penyebab dari masalah paraphrase mahasiswa. Kata Kunci: Masalah Paraphrase, Karya Ilmiah Abstract: This is a case study of the seventh semester students in Seminar on ELT class academic year 2013/2014. It was conducted with aims to find out the students ability in paraphrasing, the problems faced in paraphrasing and the causes of the problems in paraphrasing. There were 13 participants in this study. The data were collected from paraphrasing test, questionnaire and interview. The finding of the data analysis showed 76.92% of the students’ ability in paraphrasing qualified in unsatisfactory level. From the test, it was found that 76.92% of the students made mistake in changing the order of ideas, while 76.92% respondents of the questionnaire and 80% of  interviewees mentioned changing word as their problem in paraphrasing. The different result of the instruments was caused by the students’ lack of understanding toward the criteria of a good paraphrasing. Furthermore, lack of vocabulary and understanding about paraphrasing discovered as the causes of the students’ problems in paraphrasing. Keywords: Paraphrasing problems, Academic Writing

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membantu siswa mengatasi masalah mereka di dalam pemahaman membaca melalui teknik membaca TPS. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas di mana diselenggarakan dengan tujuan untuk mengatasi masalah yang terjadi di kelas dan meningkatkan proses pengajaran-pembelajaran. Data dari penelitian tindakan kelas di kumpulkan dengan tehnik observasi langsung di dalam kelas melalui tes prestasi, dan catatan lapangan. Kegunaan dari teknik membaca TPS di dalam meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa dapat dilihat di tiap pertemuan yang telah di observasi. Bedasarkan temuan penelitian, teknik membaca TPS di mana telah dipergunakan pada subjek penelitian menunjukan peningkatan pemahaman membaca narrative teks. Data skor rata-rata menunjukan pada tes pertama siswa yaitu 63.75 dan mendapat peningkatan pada tes putaran kedua yaitu 77.81. Sementara itu, standar skor yang diberikan adalah 75. Ini berarti dengan menggunakan strategi membaca TPS dalam mengajar pemahaman membaca siswa di dalam teks narratve dapat meningkat dari waktu ke waktu. Kata kunci: Teks narrative, TPS. Abstract: The purpose of this research is to help students to cope with their problem in reading comprehension through TPS reading technique. This research was a classroom action research which was conducted on the purpose to solve the problems that happened in the classroom and to improve the teaching-learning process. The data were collected through achievement test, and field notes. The use of TPS reading technique in improving students reading comprehension can be seen in every meeting that was observed. Based on the research findings, the TPS reading technique which was applied to the subject of research showed the improvement the students reading comprehension of narrative text. The data mean score showed at the students test of first cycle was 63.75 and get improved at second cycle test that was 77.81. Meanwhile, the standard score given was 75. It means that by using TPS reading technique in teaching reading comprehension in narrative text the students get improved from time to time. Key words: Report text, TPS.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini difokuskan pada pengajaran kosakata menggunakan finger-painting sebagai tehnik dan media. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada siswa kelas IV SDN 32 Tanjung Bakau di tahun ajaran 2012/2013. Ini dilakukan dalam bentuk penelitian pre-eksperimental dan mengambil kelas IVA sebagai sampel yang terdiri dari 18 siswa. Untuk mengumpulkan data, penelitian ini didukung dengan tes tertulis untuk mengukur penguasaan kosakata siswa. Data dikumpulkan dengan tehnik pengukuran. Alat pengumpulan data adalah tes tertulis dalam bentuk pilihan ganda, mencocokkan kata, dan mengisi titik-titik. Data di analisis dengan menggunakan rumus Effect Size (ES). Hasil Effect Size 2.14 menunjukkan keefektifan tergolong tinggi. Kata kunci: kosakata, finger-painting, tehnik, media. Abstract: This researchwas focused on teaching vocabulary using finger-painting as a technique and media.The research was conducted at thefourth grade students of SDN 32 Tanjung Bakau in the academic year 2012/2013.
