Abstract

Internationalization as a concept determines individual institution’s initiative to be visible in the arena of academic pursuits. The health crisis confronted by the world had highlighted the role of educational societies to strive amidst complications for global connectivity. Linkages at the moment become vital as nursing leaders design platform which is resilient to the test and demands of time. Challenging the quality of nursing education post-pandemic poses threat to delivery of safe nursing practice if higher education institution failed to safeguard its implementation through updating policies regarding compulsory and programmatic accreditation. This perspective documents various initiatives as opportunities to enhance if not sustain quality nursing education and attracting foreign students while keeping adherence to mantra of excellence instruction, research and training through borderless approach.

Abstract

Stroke incidence increases with age, and the combination of a growing population and aging demographics is expected to lead to a significant rise in global mortality and disability in the future. Stroke survivors experience substantial health, emotional, social, and economic impacts, which are felt not only by individuals but also by families and communities. This study aimed to identify the relationship between depression level and stroke severity with family support in post-stroke patients at Sumedang Regency Hospital. This study used quantitative methods with a cross-sectional design. A total of 123 post-stroke patients participated in this study. Data were collected using the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) questionnaire, National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and Perceived Social Support-Family (PSS-Fa), and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. Statistical tests showed a significant relationship between stroke severity and family support in post-stroke patients with a p value of 0.017 (p value <0.05), as well as between depression level and family support in post-stroke patients with a p value of 0.001 (p value <0.05). There is a significant relationship between stroke severity and depression level with family support in post-stroke patients. To improve health outcomes,   it is important for healthcare providers to develop and implement strategies that strengthen family involvement in post-stroke patients care.

Abstract

Background: West Java is the province with the highest number of productive age population in Indonesia. The productivity of this age group is significantly influenced by health and education factors, with health teaching materials serving as educational tools. Among the challenges that hinder the productivity of active adults, chronic disease poses a significant threat. Purpose: This study aimed to describe the cholesterol, blood sugar, and uric acid examinations in active adults, including the need for health teaching materials. Method: The sampling method used was purposive sampling, with inclusion criteria being active adults aged 18 to 60 years, who work or study at an educational institution in Bandung Regency. Meanwhile, adults with mental illness were excluded, resulting in a sample size of 70 participants. The method for checking cholesterol, blood sugar, and uric acid used a Glucose Cholesterol Uric acid (GCU) meter. Results: The results showed that 12 adults had high cholesterol levels, while 6 had elevated blood sugar and uric acid levels. In the young age group (aged 18-44 years), 2 adults experienced hypercholesterolemia. The most sought-after teaching material for chronic disease was preventing sugar intake in soft drinks and the benefits of enhancing a healthy lifestyle through education. Furthermore, establishing prevention programs in educational institutions is an essential requirement to prevent the development of chronic and safeguard the productivity of active adults. Conclusions: Based on the results, it was recommended that productive and active adults receive training in chronic disease awareness and facilitate regular general check-ups (GCUs). This proactive approach was expected to contribute to the development and health security of the country.
