Abstract

Efforts to develop the sustainable use of Timor deer can be carried out in situ, such as through the management of Natural Tourism Parks and ex-situ through captivity. The existence of the Timor deer and its breeding effort in the Gunung Tunak TWA is intended as an effort to provide tourist attractions which are the primary mandate of the management of the Gunung TWA. Utilization that is carried out needs to pay attention to the principles of leadership and the welfare of the animals. Apart from the biological technical perspective related to the management aspect of the Timor deer, another essential thing that needs to be studied is the economic valuation of the existence of the Timor deer as a tourist attraction in TWA Gunung Tunak. The purpose of this study is to analyze the economic valuation of the Timor deer as a tourist attraction using the methods of observation, interviews, accidental sampling, and data analysis using the calculation of willingness to pay, chi-square test, and bidding game. The results showed that the average economic value of Rp. 21.162 with an estimate of Rp. 52.853.167 in a year based on admission. This research is expected to add and enrich information related to the economic value of Timor deer in the context of developing utilization as a tourist attraction in TWA Gunung Tunak. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan pemilik usaha selaku informan utama, dan analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif untuk memahami persepsi dan kendala subjek penelitian secara menyeluruh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya persepsi yang kurang tepat dari pemilik usaha, di mana pendaftaran merek dianggap hanya perlu dilakukan jika usaha sudah berskala besar dan memiliki banyak cabang. Indonesia menganut asas first to file system yang memberikan hak ekslusif kepada pihak yang pertama kali mendaftarkan mereknya tanpa memandang skala usaha. Kendala eksternal yang dihadapi meliputi Informan tidak mengetahui dimana tempat pendaftaran merek usaha, tidak mengetahui syarat dalam pendaftaran merek, khawatir biaya pendaftaran mahal, memerlukan waktu yang panjang. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa hambatan utama pendaftaran merek UMKM disebabkan rendahnya literasi hukum atas informasi prosedur. Oleh karena itu perlu edukasi dari pihak DJKI dan pemerintah daerah setempat untuk mempermudah akses informasi untuk pelaku UMKM.

Abstract

Background: The Social Forestry (SF) Scheme is a national policy that aims to enhance community livelihoods while ensuring ecological sustainability. It does so by providing local communities with access to forest management. In West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, the area under various management models encompasses 60,160 hectares, exhibiting considerable promise for the advancement of agroforestry, non-timber forest products (NTFPs), and ecotourism. However, the program continues to encounter substantial implementation challenges, particularly with regard to the involvement of women. Despite the substantial contributions of women to NTFP processing, household economics, and the maintenance of traditional ecological knowledge, their involvement in formal decision-making remains limited due to socio-cultural norms, gender-insensitive policies, the absence of gender-disaggregated data, and a male-dominated licensing system. Method: The present study analyzes the implementation of Social Forestry in NTB. This analysis is based on a systematic review of secondary documents, including national and regional policy documents, PIAPS, official social forestry statistics, civil society organization reports, and peer-reviewed scientific articles. The study focuses on assessing policy relevance. Policy relevance is defined as the alignment between the objectives, instruments, and mechanisms of Social Forestry policies with the principles of inclusive governance and gender equality in implementation practices. The present study employs a descriptive qualitative approach and thematic analysis of the document corpus. Finding: Social Forestry in NTB has evolved through the following mechanisms: the strengthening of forest-based economies, the consolidation of community institutions, and the adoption of adaptive agroforestry practices. These outcomes are strengthened by the program's integration into the Integrated Regional Development (IRD) framework. However, the extent of women's participation remains constrained and often symbolic, with persistent disparities in leadership, planning, and resource control despite their high involvement in production activities. Conclusion: It is evident that initiatives such as the Women Forest Defenders (WFD) program signify advancements in enhancing gender capacity. However, a comprehensive and empirically substantiated evaluation of the efficacy of policy instruments remains deficient. Therefore, the enhancement of gender capacity, the refinement of policy instruments, the provision of gender-disaggregated data, and the integration of women's roles throughout the Social Forestry value chain are imperative prerequisites for achieving equitable, inclusive, and sustainable Social Forestry governance. Novelty/Originality of this article: The study's primary contribution lies in its systematic mapping of the Social Forestry policy framework and instruments in NTB from a gender governance perspective, thereby identifying discrepancies between policy design and implementation practices at the ground level.

Abstract

Students' understanding of climate change is crucial for developing pro-environmental behaviors. However, studies on climate change understanding based on science literacy and numeracy are still limited. This study aims to analyze students' understanding of climate change based on the context of science literacy and numeracy. The participants were 24 ninth-grade students. Students' understanding of climate change in the context of science was assessed using an open-ended survey that had been validated through expert judgement. The data were analyzed using the percentage of students' answers. In the context of literacy, the results showed that 35.8% of students believed that climate change was caused by the use of energy from fossil fuels, and 50% of students recognized its impact on ecosystems and extreme weather. Up to 67% of students stated that adopting pro-environmental habits including walking, taking public transportation, and shutting off electronics when not in use contributes to its prevention. In the context of numeracy, students can calculate their carbon footprint and understand its meaning, but only 20% were able to interpret numerical data. These findings indicate the need to strengthen contextual science learning based on numeracy so that students can understand data-based concepts. The implementation of science learning based on contextual literacy and numeracy based on data can encourage students' knowledge about the impact of climate change and their intention towards pro-environmental behavior. Abstrak. Pemahaman siswa tentang perubahan iklim penting untuk menjaring sikap ramah lingkungan mereka. Namun, kajian pemahaman perubahan iklim berdasarkan literasi dan numerasi sains masih terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pemahaman siswa mengenai perubahan iklim berdasarkan literasi dan numerasi sains. Partisipan terdiri atas 24 siswa kelas 9 SMP. Pemahaman siswa tentang perubahan iklim dijaring menggunakan open-ended survey dan dianalisis dengan persentase kategorisasi jawaban. Pada konteks literasi, hasil menunjukkan bahwa 35,8% siswa berpendapat perubahan iklim akibat penggunaan energi dari bahan bakar fosil dan 50% siswa mengenali dampaknya terhadap ekosistem dan memicu cuaca ekstrem. Sebanyak 67% siswa menyatakan bahwa sikap ramah lingkungan seperti berjalan kaki, menggunakan transportasi umum, dan mematikan alat elektronik saat tidak digunakan adalah bentuk kontribusi terhadap pencegahan perubahan iklim. Pada konteks numerasi, siswa dapat menghitung jejak karbon dengan benar dan mengerti maknanya. Akan tetapi, hanya 20% siswa yang mampu menginterpretasikan data numerik. Temuan ini mengindikasikan perlunya penguatan pembelajaran sains kontekstual berbasis numerasi sehingga siswa dapat memahami konsep berbasis data. Implementasi pembelajaran sains berbasis literasi dan numerasi kontekstual berdasarkan data dapat mendorong pengetahuan siswa tentang dampak perubahan iklim dan niat untuk berperilaku ramah lingkungan.
