Abstract

Fitness is the ability and capacity This study aims to determine the relationship between physical fitness and cognitive abilities of Grade VIII A students at SMP Negeri 8 Kota Cirebon. The background of this study is based on the low level of student fitness and the absence of similar studies at the school. The research method used was quantitative descriptive with a survey approach and instruments in the form of the Indonesian Physical Fitness Test (TKJI) and report card scores for physical education as indicators of cognitive ability. The research sample consisted of 27 students selected through purposive sampling. The results showed that most students were in the ‘moderate’ physical fitness category and all physical education report card scores were in the ‘good’ category. The normality test showed that the data was normally distributed, but the product moment correlation test produced a significance value of 0.830 (> 0.05), which means that there was no significant relationship between physical fitness and students' cognitive abilities. Thus, it can be concluded that physical fitness is not a factor directly related to students' cognitive abilities in the context of this study.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low ability of students to pass basketball effectively, which has an impact on less than optimal learning outcomes in physical education learning. One of the factors identified was the lack of variety in learning media, particularly aids such as balls. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of ball modification on basketball passing learning outcomes in grade VII students of SMP Negeri 5 Cirebon City. The method used in this study is a quasi-experiment with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research subjects consisted of two classes, namely the experimental class that was treated using a modified ball (volleyball) and a control class that continued to use a standard basketball. The data collection technique was carried out through a practical test of passing ability, including chest pass, bounce pass, and overhead pass. The results showed a significant increase in learning outcomes in the experimental group compared to the control group. The average post-test score of the experimental group reached 92.00, while the control group was only 82.97. Statistical analysis using the t-test showed a significance value (Sig.) of 0.000 < 0.05, which means that there is a significant difference between the two groups. Thus, the use of modified balls has been proven to be effective in improving basketball passing learning outcomes. This study concludes that the application of modified aids in physical education learning can be an innovative and efficient alternative strategy in improving students' motor skills, especially in big ball games such as basketball.

Abstract

Study purpose. The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of PJOK lessons on clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) of grade VI students of SDN Sidorejo. Materials and methods. The research method used by the researcher in this study is a qualitative and quantitative mixed method, with the research design using a sequential exploratory design. The implementation of this research was carried out at SD Negeri Sidorejo, Pekalongan Regency with a population of 180 students, and the number of research samples used was 30 grade VI students. The data collection technique used PJOK and PHBS questionnaires. Results. The results of the study show that PJOK lessons have an influence on the PHBS of grade VI students of SDN Sidorejo, Pekalongan Regency. Conclusion. PJOK lessons not only play a role in increasing students' physical activity, but also have a significant effect on forming clean and healthy living habits (PHBS). Through simple habits applied in schools, PJOK is able to instill students' awareness to maintain their health and the environment in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Anthropometry can be defined as the science of measuring the human body. Because anthropometry is very important for improving academic performance, the current problem addressed by this study is the decline in academic performance due to the lack of anthropometric data collected in schools. Physical education teachers find it difficult to select prospective athletes or high-achieving students, so the researchers helped the school by collecting data on 11th grade students to conduct anthropometric tests. The purpose of this study was to provide an overview of the physical and nutritional conditions of the students and to serve as a reference for improving the quality of athletes. The method used in this study was quantitative descriptive, which only describes or explains the results of anthropometric measurements on students. The instruments used were the DBON 8 criteria measurement test (weight, height, leg length, palm length, foot length, arm span, hand span, sitting height), and documentation. The population was 11th grade students at SMA Negeri 3 Kota Cirebon. The sample used was purposive sampling. Based on the results of research analysis and data processing using descriptive statistics for body measurements of 30 students, it was found that class 11 A had the criteria for athletes, as seen from the minimum, maximum, mean, and standard deviation values of the eight types of measurements. Therefore, it can be concluded that the anthropometric measurements of students in class 11 A at SMA Negeri 3 Kota Cirebon show that the 8 types of anthropometric measurements determined by KEMENPORA indicate that the students have ideal body weight and height. and measurements such as hand span, arm span, hand length, foot length, sitting height, and leg length, 85% of students in class 11 have athletic bodies.
