Abstract

The aguron-guron system is an educational system developed by the Hindu religion to teach knowledge and skills in the religious field. The system is still highly relevant for imparting spiritual knowledge in the process of producing a pandita/sulinggih (spiritual teacher). The pandita, as a spiritual leader, holds a significant position and authority in the religious life of the Hindu community. Research related to the aguron-guron system was conducted at Griya Agung Bangkasa because this griya (household) is one of the ancient griyas with a long lineage of sulinggih and is committed to developing the aguron-guron system. There are three issues addressed in this research, namely related to the form, function, and implications of the aguron-guron system in Griya Agung Bangkasa. This qualitative research with a theological approach uses structural functionalism and symbolic interactionism theories to analyze the issues so that data can be presented descriptively qualitatively. The form of the aguron-guron system in Griya Agung Bangkasa is an education system known as "Garis Kapurusan Parampara." This education system is implemented intensively and exclusively by teachers/nabe towards their students/sisya. The aguron-guron education is carried out with the aim of achieving parartha and paramartha. The components involved include nabe, nanak, curriculum, walaka griya, and overseeing foundations. The aguron-guron system in Griya Agung Bangkasa serves educational, religious, and social functions. Lastly, regarding the implications of the aguron-guron system in Griya Agung Bangkasa, it gives rise to educational, theological, and sociological implications both internally and externally. This exclusive aguron-guron system is unique due to the presence of pawintenan wiwa and the existence of nabe siksa in the process, both of which are efforts to improve the quality of the implemented aguron-guron education. The exclusive nature of the aguron-guron system is the best choice for providing spiritual education, enriching the educational system, and creating a holistic education.

Abstract

The Hindu Theology Study Program carries out community service in the Yehembang Kangin Traditional Village, Mendoyo District, Jembrana Regency in 2021 with the theme "Training for Leadership and Understanding of Hindu Religion". The theme is adjusted to the needs of the community in the field of Kepemangkuan, the conception of tattwa, acara agama, padewasan, and Sanskrit in puja mantras to answer the challenges of religious life. This community service uses training methods by demonstrating procedures for using Genta and reciting puja mantras, as well as community education through lectures and discussions. In general, the implementation of community service received a good response from the community and was smooth. Obstacles such as the distance between the service locations and the schedule of activities that conflict with the traditional agenda can be overcome through good cooperation from all parties. During community service, it was found that the enthusiasm of the community to understand the teachings of Hinduism was very high. Especially the Pemangku who need explanations related to practices and sesana to comply with the rules of literature. The lack of literature and discussion opportunities becomes an obstacle in the public knowledge abou Hindu religious teachings. The community needs guidance related to Hindu religious teachings to prepare themselves to become a moderate society in  a pluralistic environment.

Abstract

Traditional Balinese agricultural practices are rooted in the life philosophy of the Hindu community, which emphasizes harmony between humans, nature, and spirituality, aligning with the Tri Hita Karana philosophy. The Subak, Bali's traditional agricultural organization, manages a farming system rich with agricultural rituals. Among these is the Ngurit ritual, a crucial part of the rice cultivation cycle, performed before the planting season to seek blessings from Dewi Śrī and Dewi Pṛthvī for a bountiful crop. Beyond tradition, Ngurit symbolizes respect for nature as a source of life. Amid modernization and global challenges such as climate change and shifts in younger generations' focus, traditional farming practices face significant pressures threatening their continuity. Through a holistic and regenerative approach, Ngurit also offers valuable perspectives on environmental conservation and sustainable agriculture. This article highlights the need to preserve the spiritual and ecological values embedded in traditional Balinese farming practices to ensure the well-being of Bali’s environment and the lives of future generations.

Abstract

Hindus in Bali in carrying out the yajna ceremony still adhere to the teachings passed down by their ancestors and sometimes do not know the function and meaning of the ceremony. This is starting to be shaken by the critical minds of the younger generation who are starting to question why a ceremony is being carried out, therefore this research was conducted to discuss one of the types of ceremonies used in a yajna ceremony, namely the use of ivory bale in the god yajna ceremony. The form, function and meaning of using the ivory bale in the Dewa Yajna ceremony was studied using a qualitative descriptive method in which data were obtained from observation, document studies and interviews. The discussion begins with the definition and mythology of the ivory bale. Bale ivory is a small white and yellow bale whose function is to honor Sang Hyang Semara Ratih and has theological meaning, sociological meaning and ethical or ethical meaning in living life.
