Abstract

The design of furniture products, such as cabinets, requires precision and considerable time, especially in the design and prototyping stages. With the development of technology, the use of computer-aided design (CAD) software such as Solidworks is a solution to improve efficiency in product design. This journal discusses the implementation of Solidworks in cabinet planning, with a focus on reducing production time and improving design accuracy. Through the use of Solidworks, the design process can be digitized, allowing designers to create more accurate and easily modifiable 3D models, and reducing errors that often occur in manual design. In addition, the simulation and analysis features in Solidworks also facilitate the identification of problems before the production stage begins, thereby reducing the risk of errors in the manufacture of cabinets. The results of this software application show that the time required to design cabinets can be significantly reduced, by increasing the efficiency of production time, reducing material waste, and accelerating prototyping. Therefore, the use of Solidworks is very effective in improving time efficiency and product quality in the furniture industry.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between work posture, assessed using the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) method, and the work productivity level of employees in the office warehouse division of a livestock feed company. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was employed, involving 14 respondents. Data were collected through posture observations using the RULA worksheet and a productivity questionnaire covering aspects of performance and personality. The evaluation results showed that all employees had RULA scores ranging from 3 to 4, indicating a moderate ergonomic risk level. Meanwhile, work productivity scores varied from 57.4 to 78.6. Statistical analysis using the Chi-Square test produced a significance value of 0.730, indicating no statistically significant relationship between RULA scores and employee productivity. Nevertheless, ergonomic improvements are still recommended to prevent musculoskeletal disorders and to enhance long-term work comfort and efficiency.

Abstract

Purpose: This research aims to identify the learner profiles of economics and medical students at a university in Indonesia. The goal is to use these profiles as a foundational reference for customizing English for Specific Purposes (ESP) programs to suit students' contextual and disciplinary needs. Methodology: A qualitative approach was employed in this study. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews conducted in three rounds, each lasting 30 minutes. The participants consisted of 12 ESP lecturers from higher education institutions in Indonesia. Results: The findings revealed that medical students generally have high English proficiency, are hardworking, diligent, highly motivated, well-mannered, active, and goal-oriented. In contrast, economics students tend to be passive, sociable, polite, less motivated, lower in English proficiency, and more dependent on contextual learning. Applications/Originality/Value: This research highlights the necessity of considering students’ distinct characteristics in the development and implementation of ESP programs. Tailoring instructional strategies based on student profiles can significantly enhance the effectiveness and relevance of ESP teaching in higher education contexts.
