Abstract

Diabetes Melitus (DM) merupakan penyakit gangguan metabolisme yang ditandai dengan tingginya kadar glukosa darah (hiperglikemia) yang mengakibatkan terjadinya disfungsi seksual dan berkontribusi dalam infertilitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruhpemberian ekstrak etanol daun sambung nyawa (Gynura procumbens), biji mahoni (Swietenia mahagoni jacq) serta kombinasinya pada berbagai dosis terhadap kadar glukosa mencit (Mus musculus l.). Sejumlah 48 ekor mencit jantan yang berumur 1,5-2 bulan dengan berat 25-30 gram digunakan sebagai hewan percobaan. Metode pembuatan ekstrak dengan teknik maserasi dan evaporasi. Desain percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap yang terbagi menjadi 12 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Adapaun 12 perlakuan tersebut adalah pemberian aquades (kontrol), Dextrose 10%, Metformin 112 mg/kg BB, ekstrak daun sambung nyawa dan biji mahoni dosis 200 mg/kg BB, 250 mg/kg BB, dan 300 mg/kg BB, serta kombinasi ekstrak daun daun sambung nyawa dan biji mahoni dosis 100:100 mg/kg BB, 125:125 mg/kg, BB, dan 150:150 mg/kg BB yang diberikan secara oral sebanyak 0,5 ml selama 35 hari. Pengamatan penurunan kadar glukosa darah dilakukan dengan mengambil sampel darah kemudian diamati menggunakan Gluco-M. Selanjutnya data dianalisis menggunakan uji one way- ANOVA dan LSD dengan taraf kepercayaan 95% (P<0,05). Dari hasil analisis data didapatkan bahwa ekstrak daun sambung nyawa, biji mahoni serta kombinasinya pada berbagai dosis berpotensi menurunkan kadar glukosa darah mencit. (P<0,05). Dengan demikian ekstrak daun sambung nyawa, biji mahoni serta kombinasinya berpotensi menurunkan diabetes dan sebagai bahan herbal alternatif pengganti Metformin.

Abstract

Sunflower (Helianthus annus L.) is a plant that has many benefits. The oil in sunflower seeds contains unsaturated fatty acids in the form of oleic and linoleate morethan soybean, peanut, corn and palm oil. Sunflower seed oil is also reported to be used as a base for hand body lotions. This study aims to make a Hand Body Lotion formulation from sunflower seed extract and then evaluated. The evaluations carried out were pH, homogeneity, color and odor. The results of pH evaluation showed that there was a change in the pH of each formula which was still in the pH range of the topical preparations 4.5-8 according SNI. While the best homogeneity test results in formula II when compared to formulas I and III are due to clumping in formulas I and III. The test results on the smell and color of the Hand Body Lotion did not change with the opinions of 35 respondents. Keywords:Hand Body Lotion, Sunflower Seed Extract, Semisol

Abstract

The clover plant (Marsilea crenata C.Presl) is a plant that is widely used for food and has the potential to be developed as a herbal medicine. Clover plant extract using methanol, chloroform, and ethyl acetate was found to have weak antioxidant activity. The aim of this research was to test the antioxidant activity in air solvent extracts of clover plants using the FRAP (Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power) method and analyze the effect of variations in extract concentration on the antioxidant activity test. The method in this research is clover plant extraction by maceration using an air solvent. Test antioxidant activity using the FRAP method using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer with a maximum wavelength of 596 nm. The extract yield of 42% showed that it positively contained flavonoids, saponins, polyphenols and a water content of 9.94% ± 0.1276. The results showed that clover plants had weak antioxidant activity (IC50 351.04 ppm) compared to vitamin C as a positive control which showed very strong antioxidant activity (IC50 22.60 ppm). From the results of this study, it can be said that increasing the extract concentration can increase the percentage of inhibition of free radical formation, but the increase is not linear, as indicated by the R2 value not approaching 0.99.
