Abstract

This study aims to investigate the factors that influence the purchasing decisions of MSME products (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) in Tasikmalaya with a focus on the role of halal labels, BPOM permits and consumer trust. The method used is a quantitative method with a path analysis model. The research sample was selected using the Simple Random Sampling method by considering relevant consumer characteristics. To identify the relationship between the variables studied and their impact on purchasing decisions of MSME products in Tasikmalaya, data collected from respondents were then analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) technique. The results of this study indicate that halal labels and BPOM permits have a significant influence on consumer trust and purchasing decisions of MSME products in Tasikmalaya. In addition, consumer trust is proven to act as an intervening variable, strengthening the relationship between halal labels and purchasing decisions.

Abstract

The principle of justice is a fundamental value in Islamic economics that is relevant to be applied in cross-cultural transactions. However, differences in cultural values and social backgrounds can affect its implementation. This study aims to explore the application of the principle of Islamic justice in cross-cultural transactions in a multicultural society. The study used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, while data analysis was carried out using NVivo software. Data were obtained through interviews with cross-cultural business actors and analyzed through thematic coding. The findings show that the principle of justice includes honesty, transparency, and equality in the treatment of all parties, which contribute to the creation of more harmonious and mutually beneficial business relationships. However, its implementation faces challenges in the form of different perceptions of justice, imbalance of information, and the influence of local cultural norms. The flexible and inclusive principle of Islamic justice provides a strong foundation to overcome these challenges and create harmony in cross-cultural transactions.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a sustainability model for Muslim Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in West Java by integrating the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) concept with Islamic Economic principles. The TBL approach, which includes financial, social, and environmental aspects, is analyzed to understand its implementation. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through interviews and analyzed using NVivo. The results of the study show that Muslim SMEs in West Java prioritize financial and social aspects, while attention to the environment is still limited. From an Islamic Economic perspective, sustainability is not only seen from the financial and social aspects, but also responsibility towards the environment as a mandate. Other findings show that riba, maysir, and gharar-based financial practices exacerbate financial risks and social relationships. Therefore, the proposed sustainability model integrates all three aspects of TBL with Islamic economic principles. The main contribution of this study is the development of a sustainability model based on Islamic values that offers concrete guidance for Muslim SMEs to integrate TBL principles with sharia in a practical manner. This model provides a framework to reduce dependence on riba-based financing, increase community empowerment, and environmental management according to Islamic principles. Thus, these findings can be implemented by SMEs, policy makers, and supporting institutions to promote holistic and Islamic sustainability.

Abstract

TBL covers financial, social, and environmental aspects. A qualitative method with a phenomenological approach is used. Data were collected through interviews and analyzed using NVivo. Findings show that Muslim SMEs in West Java prioritize financial and social aspects, with limited attention to the environment. From an Islamic Economic perspective, sustainability includes environmental responsibility as a mandate. Financial practices involving riba, maysir, and gharar increase financial risks and social tensions. The proposed sustainability model integrates TBL and Islamic principles. The key contribution is a model based on Islamic values that guides Muslim SMEs in adapting TBL within a Sharia-compliant framework. This model reduces dependence on riba-based financing, enhances community empowerment, and strengthens environmental management in line with Islamic principles.

Abstract

This study explores the diverse perceptions among Muslim entrepreneurs in Indonesia regarding bank interest and its influence on business decision-making. While some entrepreneurs view bank interest as usury (haram interest), which is prohibited in Islam, others do not, resulting in very different business strategies. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data was collected through in-depth interviews with purposively selected participants and analysed using NVivo. The findings reveal two distinct perspectives. The first group views bank interest as Riba, and their business decisions actively avoid conventional banking facilities. They prefer self-financing or community-based financing with profit-sharing principles, are more selective in choosing business partners, and may delay expansion. This group views the difference between Islamic banks and conventional banks as merely a difference in terminology and maintains strong community ties with relatively low financial pressure. This study reveals the evolution of public perception regarding usury in the modern financial system, highlighting how religious interpretations adapt to contemporary economic dynamics while influencing the financial behaviour of the faithful.

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas etika bisnis dalam perspektif Islam, dengan fokus pada prinsip-prinsip dasar yang bersumber dari Al-Qur’an dan Hadis, serta penerapannya dalam dunia bisnis modern. Etika bisnis Islam menekankan nilai-nilai keadilan, kejujuran, tanggung jawab sosial, amanah, dan larangan terhadap riba sebagai panduan moral dalam berbisnis. Makalah ini juga menganalisis tantangan yang dihadapi dalam implementasi etika bisnis Islam di tengah dinamika ekonomi global dan persaingan yang semakin ketat. Dengan menyoroti contoh-contoh penerapan, seperti dalam sistem perbankan syariah, makalah ini menunjukkan relevansi dan keunggulan prinsip-prinsip Islam dalam menciptakan bisnis yang berkelanjutan, adil, dan berorientasi pada kesejahteraan masyarakat. Kajian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan bagi para pelaku usaha dan akademisi untuk mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai Islam dalam praktik bisnis kontemporer.
