Abstract

Collaboration skills, creativity and cognitive learning outcomes are the main things that are achieved in learning. Collaboration skills are the ability to work together productively with mutual respect and responsibility.. Creativity is also very much needed to survive in the era of globalization. Cognitive learning outcomes are a crucial basis for developing higher levels. This research aims to provide an overview of collaboration skills, student creativity, and cognitive learning outcomes in project learning. This research uses quantitative descriptive methods. The instruments used were collaboration skills observation sheets, creativity description tests, and cognitive learning outcomes description tests. Data were analyzed using mean values. The research results show that the highest aspect of student collaboration skills is the aspect of productive work and responsibility in the very good category. Meanwhile, the lowest is in the compromise aspect. Student creativity is highest in the aspects of curiosity, fluency in thinking, elaboration in the very good category. Meanwhile, the lowest was in the divergent thinking aspect. The highest cognitive learning outcomes are in the application domain, while the lowest are in the evaluating aspect. Therefore, it can be recommended that project-based learning can empower collaboration skills, creativity, and improve cognitive learning outcomes.

Abstract

This is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) research that aims to identify the marine potential of Tarakan City which can be used as teaching material in Marine Biology courses. Search using the Publish or Perish 8 application by analyzing articles indexed by Google Scholar and Crossref. After carrying out the process of identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion, a total of 9 articles were obtained, consisting of 6 Google Scholar articles and 3 Crossref articles. The entire article was analyzed for its suitability with the material content in the marine biology semester learning plan (RPS). Findings of this study show that the marine biota of Tarakan City that can be used as teaching materials for marine biology are seaweed, Signus Jjavus fish, Harpadon nehereus, Ilisha elongate, Protista, and Mangroves Research locations at Amal Beach, Binalatung Beach, Mamburungan, Juata waters, Juata Laut waters, KKMB Tarakan City, and Sadau Island, Indonesia. These articles can be used as teaching material for marine biology regarding the geographical conditions of Indonesian seas, marine animals, marine plants, marine biogeochemical cycles, marine primary productivity, coastal biota, mangrove biota, and research methods for plankton, benthos, and nekton. This research contributes to the planning and preparing of marine biology learning resources based on local potential.

Abstract

This study sought to ascertain if the problem based learning (PBL) instructional paradigma had an effect on the eighth graders critical thinking abilities at the SMP Negeri 3 Tarakan. This study was conducted at SMP Negeri 3 Tarakan during the even semester of the 2021-2022 academic year, This type of research was quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population in this study were all eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Tarakan Purposive sampling was used to choose the research sample, which included 32 students from classes VIII-I and VIII-9. The Wilcoxon Mann-whitney test was used to analyze the data, and when the findings were obtained with a significance value of 0.003, less than 0.05, Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected. This shows that the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model had an effect on the critical thinking skills of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Tarakan.

Abstract

Indonesia, known for its rich diversity of plants, has regions with distinctive food plants. The use of local plants as food remains prevalent among the Tidung people in Sepala Dalung Village, Tana Tidung Regency, North Kalimantan. This study aimed to explore the utilization of local plants as food by the Tidung people in Sepala Dalung Village. The research was descriptive with a qualitative approach, employing interviews, observations, and documentation for data collection. The results revealed that the Tidung Tribe utilized plants from two habitats: 10 plant types from hygrophytic habitats and 3 plant types from hydrophytic habitats. The commonly used plant parts included roots, leaf stems, and fruits. Plant processing was categorized into two types: those that could be consumed directly and those requiring prior processing. The findings highlighted the potential of diversifying local plants as alternative food sources, providing new knowledge for the community in Sepala Dalung Village, which could be incorporated into biology education to enhance learning.
