Abstract

Background: At present, there is no questionnaire in Bahasa Indonesia to assess the quality of life of female patients with melasma. The aim of this study is to adapt the existing English questionnaire, MELASQOL, into Bahasa Indonesia, and to assess its validity and reliability. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study consisting of two stages. The initial stage is cross-cultural and language adaptation. The final stage is the validity and reliability test. The original MELASQOL questionnaire is in English and is adapted into Bahasa Indonesia according to the cross-cultural and language adaptation guidelines. The subjects were recruited from two sites, The Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital and a factory in Tangerang. A construct validity method was used for the validity analysis. Cronbach’s α was used for internal reliability analysis. Results: The initial stage involved 30 subjects, and 32 subjects were involved with the final stage. The validity of The MELASQOL Bahasa Indonesia was calculated by the item-total score. The correlation coefficient is 0.712–0.935. Its reliability was calculated by the Cronbach α score is 0.962. Conclusions: MELASQOL Bahasa Indonesia is a valid and reliable instrument for assessing the quality of life of female patients with melasma in Indonesia.

Abstract

Introduction. About 82% of cases of hearing loss due to employment occur in workers in the manufacturing sector. The prevalence of hearing loss has a permanent impact that can be detected by standard threshold shift (STS). The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between individual and occupational risk factors on the proportion of STS. Methods. The research was a cross-sectional study on employees with noise exposure. The independent variables include individual factors such as age, history of hypertension, history of diabetes mellitus, smoking, body mass index, and occupational factors such as the history of chemical exposures, working period, provision of personal protective equipment (PPE), and working area. Results. The study showed that the associated risk factors were working period (OR 1.9; 95% CI 1.0-3.4), history of diabetes mellitus (OR 17; 95% CI 2.1 -146), and obesity (OR 2.4; 95% CI 1.1-5.0). The variable of history of diabetes mellitus, working period, and BMI accounted for about 12% of the proportion of STS with the main predictive value being the history of diabetes mellitus in multivariate analysis. Conclusion. The proportion of STS in the manufacturing company in the period 2018 to 2020 was 33.5%. The high proportion of STS employees may indicate the need to evaluate the hearing protection program that has been running since 2016. Suggestions for the company including improving employee protection programs, monitoring and evaluating ongoing hearing protection programs, and health programs, especially chronic diseases such as diabetes mellitus and weight loss. .

Abstract

Colorectal cancer is fairly common compared to other cancers. The incidence and mortality rates are predicted to increase globally. In some cases, cancer can be potentially spread to another organ or metastatic. One of recent available targeted therapies for metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) patient is Cetuximab (Erbitux ®), combined with chemotherapy. Despite clinical effectiveness, there is the importance of the evidence related cost-effectiveness of therapy. This study aims to summary, synthesize, and systematically review the economic evaluation studies of Cetuximab for metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). Model based economic evaluation of Cetuximab for metastatic colorectal cancer will be searched and included in the review based on specific eligibility criteria. Several electronic databases that will be used: Medline, Embase, Cochrane, National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Center for Reviews and Dissemination. Full economic evaluation evidence will be summarized and critically appraised using Drummond as well as (Consolidated Health Economic Evaluation Reporting Standards (CHEERS) checklist. In terms of analysis, we will qualitatively appraise and present the studies that meet our inclusion and exclusion criteria. We are expected to summarize the quality and capture the valuable insights related to health economic evaluation studies of Cetuximab for mCRC patient.
