Abstract

This paper explores the rise of participatory journalism as a newphase of media-based technology and its position in the journalismfield. As a new media form, citizen journalism appeared with a lot ofattraction supported by high technology that enables audiences to getfast information as well as flexibility in accessing it. It is examinedby comparing citizen journalists with professional journalists in theirway of gathering and reporting news. Apart from the benefits, thecitizen journalists particularly those who are considered as bloggersare sometimes challenged in providing accurate and objectiveinformation without being fully influenced by their thought. It isimportant to note that the collaboration between the citizen and theprofessional journalists is very essential to maintain the news qualitythey produce. Bloggers who work alone and provide information justbased on what they are thinking, without having any research, shouldbe considered as a separate term from other online reporters whowork based on journalism principles.Keywords: Citizen Journalism; Traditional media; News value;Internet; Technology.

Abstract

Pesatnya perkembangan teknologi utamanya teknologi informasi telahmenempatkan internet sebagai salah satu teknologi vital yang dibutuhkandalam berbagai bidang aktivitas.Sebagai teknologi penyedia informasitercepat, Internet telah menjadi alternatif penting dalam hal aksesmengakses informasi. Namun demikian, bebasnya arus informasi viainternet menimbulkan berbagai dampak negatif utamanya penyebarankonten-konten berbahaya, seperti virus yang membahayakan sistemkomputerisasi pengguna, maupun akses terhadap gambar-gambarpornografi yang dapat merusak moral pengguna di bawah umur.Oleh karena itu, tergantung pada budaya dan kebijakan di beberapanegara, saat ini Internet Filtering atau penyaringan internet telah diterapkanuntuk melindungi pengguna internet terhadap konten-konten berbahayayang disajikan oleh internet. Namun di balik itu sistem penyaringaninternet bukan tanpa kendala, dalam beberapa kasus, sistem penyaringantersebut membatasi kebebasan pengguna dalam mengakses informasi yangmereka butuhkan. Untuk itu, diperlukan teknik penyaringan internet yangtepat sehingga tetap mampu memberikan kebebasan kepadapengguna sekaligus memungkinkan keluarga dan lembaga pendidikanuntuk melindungi anak-anak tanpa harus memblok akses penting yangdibutuhkan oleh masyarakat.Peran regulator dalam hal ini pemerintah bekerja sama dengan internetservice provider sangat penting dalam melindungi pengguna internet darikonten-konten berbahaya namun tetap melindungi hak pengguna dalammengakses informasi dengan pengaturan dan penyesuaian sistempenyaringan yang tepat bagi pengguna.

Abstract

Keunikan suku kajang sangat menarik untuk dikaji oleh berbagai disiplin ilmu. Kepercayaan mereka terhadap pesan-pesan yang disampaikan dalam “Pasang ri Kajang” menuntun langkah mereka dalam menjalankan kehidupan secara sederhana dan bijak. Tulisan ini membahas tentang Komunitas Kajang serta nilai dan ajaran kepercayaan mereka. Pentingnya Pasang ri Kajang  dan keberadaan Ammatoa yang mereka percayai sebagai utusan sang maha pencipta merupakan dua hal penting yang memelihara kekuatan nilai dan ajaran mereka. Meskipun mereka mengklaim diri mereka sebagai muslim, praktek-praktek keagamaan mereka cenderung berbeda dengan muslim pada umumnya. Konsep kepercayaan mereka bukan berdasarkan pada lima rukun islam, melainkan berdasarkan pada sikap dan perilaku hidup mereka sehari-hari, sebagaimana ajaran tradisi yang mereka pegang teguh seperti: “kalumbusuang” (kejujuran); “gattang” (konsistensi); “sabbara” (ke-sabaran); and “appisona” (ketulusan).------------------------- The unique of Kajang ethnic is interesting to be studied by different disciplines. Their belief on the messages stated in “Pasanga ri Kajang” drive their step in running their life simply and wisely. This paper explores the community of Kajang and their religious beliefs and values. The importance of the Pasanga ri Kajang and the existence of Ammatoa as they believe as the messenger are two things that maintain their strong values and believes. Although they claimed to be Muslims, their religious practices are much different with general Muslims. They believe that “je’ne temmapettu; sembayang tellara,” which is meant, more or less, “unbreaka-ble ritual ablution and a never ending prayers” as more important than the ritual religious practice. The concept is not primarily by the principles of Islam, but rather it is based on their attitudes and behaviors of daily life on traditional teachings supporting practices, such as “kalumbusuang” (honesty); “gattang” (consistency); “sabbara” (patience); and “appisona” (sincerity).

Abstract

An editor of electronic media has the authority to determine what news is appropriate to be displayed, and disseminated. Editor of Kompas TV has the right to display and not display a news, there is even news that can air more than once on a different day, there is news that does not show because there is news that aired first and the time is up for the news segment. Kompas TV Makassar also has several terms and conditions in assessing how feasible a news can be displayed so that it can become public consumption. Abstract

This study aims to provide information and become a reference for other parties in developing effective communication methods in waste management. Thus, the waste problem in Palu City can be overcome more efficiently, and the community can be more aware of environmental cleanliness. By involving active participation from all parties, including the community and society, waste management efforts can succeed, and Palu City will become cleaner and healthier. The research method used is a qualitative method that produces descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words and observable behavior. This approach describes the social world from the point of view of the individual or the informant's interpretation in a scientific context. Informants were selected based on purposive sampling techniques with selection based on predetermined criteria, namely Seangle's permanent administrators, who have joined since the beginning of the community's establishment in 2017, the Palu City Environmental Agency, and participants in Seangle's work programs. The results showed that the work program carried out by Seangle had provided positive changes to people's habits, which, although not measured in concrete data, observationally look significant from time to time. The motivation given by Seangle through a persuasive attitude aroused community participation to build positive habits toward waste management in Palu City jointly.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out how the editor-in-chief in directing journalists to find news so that they are able to produce quality news and find out how journalists understand the instructions given by the chief editor. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research with the research location located at Radar TV Palu, Jalan Yos Sudarso No. 9 Hammers. the informants in this study amounted to 4 (four) informants who were selected through purposive sampling. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation (participants) and interviews. The data analysis technique used qualitative data analysis. The results of this study indicate that the editor-in-chief's communication style to journalists on Radar TV Palu has indeed been carried out by the editor-in-chief, this is because all instructions or directives from the editor-in-chief to journalists have been carried out, although not entirely. There are four communication style orientations used by the editor-in-chief of Radar TV Palu, namely action-oriented communication style, process-oriented communication style, people-oriented communication style and idea-oriented communication style. However, of the four communication styles, the most prominent leadership style used by the editor-in-chief of Radar TV Palu is a people-oriented communication style because it is humane, can share feelings and is also based on his experience in the field of journalism or being a journalist so that he can understand every process. by journalists. Meanwhile, in carrying out any instructions or directions given by the editor-in-chief of Radar TV Palu, it has been carried out by journalists, to carry out this is not difficult because the relationship between the editor-in-chief and all journalists is very well established and that also makes it easier for the editor-in-chief in giving directions even though the direction it's not maximally done by journalists.

Abstract

This study aims to find out what criteria are set by the gatekeeper at the Metrosulawesi Daily in determining whether or not a news item is worthy of publication and to find out what methods are used by gatekeepers at the Metrosulawesi Daily in resolving news writing errors. This study uses participant observation with a qualitative descriptive research approach as well as using a qualitative content analysis research method that uses a variant approach to the qualitative case study methodology which. The results of this study found that the gatekeeper of the Metrosulawesi daily in determining whether or not a news item was appropriate prioritized the economic aspect as the main guideline in gatekeeping. While the other 6 aspects as mentioned by Bittner only have a small influence on the gatekeeper in determining whether or not a news is worthy. Based on the research obtained, it can be concluded that the gatekeeping process carried out in the Metro Palu rubric is more inclined to the aspect of economic needs. For gatekeepers in determining whether or not a news is appropriate, the economic aspect is a basic guideline for companies to survive in the middle of media competition in Palu City. The economic aspect in the gatekeeping process in the Metrosulawesi daily can even shift the role of the gatekeeper in selecting every information. This is because the presence of advertisements, sponsors and advetorials is the main source of life for the survival of the Metrosulawesi Daily. In resolving writing or reporting errors, the Metrosulawesi daily chose to meet directly with sources to confirm the reporting errors. Then repackaging the false news, then republish it so that misunderstandings can be resolved without legal action.
