Abstract

Konsep kepercayaan mereka bukan berdasarkan pada lima rukun islam, melainkan berdasarkan pada sikap dan perilaku hidup mereka sehari-hari, sebagaimana ajaran tradisi yang mereka pegang teguh seperti: “kalumbusuang” (kejujuran); “gattang” (konsistensi); “sabbara” (ke-sabaran); and “appisona” (ketulusan).------------------------- The unique of Kajang ethnic is interesting to be studied by different disciplines. Their belief on the messages stated in “Pasanga ri Kajang” drive their step in running their life simply and wisely. This paper explores the community of Kajang and their religious beliefs and values. The importance of the Pasanga ri Kajang and the existence of Ammatoa as they believe as the messenger are two things that maintain their strong values and believes. Although they claimed to be Muslims, their religious practices are much different with general Muslims. They believe that “je’ne temmapettu; sembayang tellara,” which is meant, more or less, “unbreaka-ble ritual ablution and a never ending prayers” as more important than the ritual religious practice. The concept is not primarily by the principles of Islam, but rather it is based on their attitudes and behaviors of daily life on traditional teachings supporting practices, such as “kalumbusuang” (honesty); “gattang” (consistency); “sabbara” (patience); and “appisona” (sincerity).

Abstract

This article aims to examine what Indonesia has achieved in the last decades of decentralisation. In other words, has decentralisation brought about what its prominent advocators yearned for? How do “decentralisers”-- supporters and prominent advocators of local autonomy - play their roles in re-actualising or reinventing their local identities? How has local identity emerged within the state’s territory? Empirically, most new splitting regions (pemekaran) (both province and district) are formed through mobilisation of etnhnic and religious sentiments. Specifically, ethnic politics continue to contribute to the development of the West Sulawesi. Decentralisation, at the changing political landscape, has been seen as a new opportunity and arena for local elites to compete against others to control the local governments.

Abstract

The species of trees have different secondary compounds that need optimum extraction techniques. Appropriate extraction techniquesdetermine the quality and quantity of DNA produced. This research aims to found optimal of extraction methods and DNA isolation, thento created genome DNA in high quality and quantity, so that it can be using for genetic variation analyses in Suren (Toona sureni Merr.) byRandom Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD). This study shows that DNA concentrates were 763.3 μg/ml, 180.0 μg/ml, 383.3 μg/ml, and436.7 μg/ml. While based on the results of PCR amplification using the primers OPD 03 shows that the four extraction methods used, the extraction method of number 3 has been able to produce genomic DNA with better quality and more number of bands, although the quantityis lower.

Abstract

The article examines the impact of local governance on Islam and politics in Indonesia, examining how decentralization of power has allowed local politicians to collaborate with Islamic organizations and parties to affect local policy. Local officials have been accused of Islamization, which entails promoting Islamic ideals and practices through governmental policy. The article examines the issue of mixing religion and politics, stressing that some Indonesians feel Islam should be crucial in the country's political landscape. In contrast, others believe religion and politics should be kept separate. After reviewing the many perspectives on Islam and politics in Indonesia, the article finishes by underlining the need for a more harmonious interaction between these two sectors. It emphasizes the existence of inter-religious conflicts in Indonesia, some of which have been fuelled by politicians' exploitation of sectarianism to further their interests. As a result, the paper suggests that politicians and policymakers adopt a more inclusive approach that respects religious diversity and encourages communication among different religious groups. This essay proposes that education and the media can promote inter-religious harmony and tolerance, resulting in a more peaceful and prosperous society.

Abstract

This article is a study of transmigration in Sulawesi, Indonesia. Transmigration is the resettlement of transmigrants from a densely populated area to a less populated one. This article makes a valuable contribution to the field of literary studies by offering a contemporary analysis of transmigration in Indonesia, spanning from the Dutch colonial era to the present day. This article highlights that Indonesia is the most aggressive country in resettling about 7,936,6651 of its population to mainly the Outer Islands through transmigration programs from time to time. Among the settlement area which the focus of this study is the first documented Bugis state-sponsored migration in Baras of West Sulawesi. The transmigration in Baras was implemented by incorporating the so-called KTM (Kawasan Terpadu Mandiri - Self-Sufficient Integrated Area) and APPDT (Alokasi Penempatan Penduduk Transmigrasi - Special Allocation for Settled-Transmigration Area). The KTM then has turned into a frontier settlement, a frontier of agriculture, a frontier of an economy, and a frontier of politics. It is an open door for voluntary and involuntary transmigrants to access a resource.

Abstract

Scholars have viewed governance as a form of government reform. The broad concept of governance has recently come to encompass governance reform. Governments have since undermined the meaning of transition. The term governance has become a trendy term for reforming the public sector. Governance is concerned with issues of public administration and policy. This article argues that governments intend to maintain political and hierarchical structures while establishing merit recruitment and promotion systems. The purpose of governance is mainly to help accelerate the functioning of the public sector. Using Rod Rhodes' notion of governance, this study finds that political authority tends to be delegated power to acid. Institutional separation and pluralization have significantly weakened the central government's ability to direct. Although there is no agreement on the implications of change, governance emerged because of government reform. This study shows that governance in the changing understanding and practice of governance mechanisms has more to do with the direction and arrangement of public affairs whose purpose is to improve, organize, and unravel all human affairs.

Abstract

Bitti (Vitex cofassus Reinw. ex Blume) is a group of plants in the Verbenaceae family. The species is classified as a promising endemic plant in South Sulawesi; however, it has received little attention and has not been used and developed optimally. The seed is a recalcitrant category, which has responses to water loss. This study aimed to determine the effect of water temperature and storage periods on the vigor and viability of Bitti seeds. The study was conducted at a greenhouse of the Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University, from May to July 2022. The design of the research was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of two factors: water immersion temperature and storage time. Each treatment consists of 30 seeds, with three replications. The results showed that a water immersion temperature of 50°C with a storage period of two weeks gave the best results in the parameters of percentage of sprouts (65,55%), germination viability (65,55%), and mean germinated seeds per day (0,49). The water immersion temperature of 90°C, which was drained for 24 hours without storage, showed the highest value for the mean germination time parameter (31,1), and the soaking temperature of 90°C drained for 24 hours with one week of storage produced gave the best value for the vigor index parameter (4,77). It is considered that germination activities on Bitti seeds require treatment with suitable water immersion. Thus, Bitti seed germination activities require water immersion at a certain temperature and storage time.
