Abstract

Overcrowding in the emergency department is defined as a situation where the emergency department has more patients than treatment rooms or more patients than the staff should ideally handle, and the emergency department is an overcrowded place, with patient volumes far from capacity. and forcing emergency departments to operate beyond their capacity. Delays in elective surgery are one of the National Quality Indicators which are closely related to perioperative services in Central Surgical Installations. The Central Surgery Installation is one of the installations that provides perioperative services in hospitals. This installation provides well-planned surgical services. The aim of the research is to determine the factors that cause delays in elective surgery in the Central Surgery Installation. Method This research uses a retrospective observational analytic method with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used is cluster sampling which is taken randomly. The analysis used is Logistic Regression. Research Results There is a significant relationship between patient factors and staff factors. The conclusion is that staff factors are the most dominant factor influencing surgical delays in the Central Surgical Installation.

Abstract

The decrease in lung functional capacity will be followed by a decrease in the value of maximal inspiratory pressure and maximal expiratory pressure, both of these values indicate a significant decrease in respiratory muscle strength after the Coronary Artery Bypass Graft procedure, which can increase mortality rates and length of hospital stay. The purpose of this study was to repair blocked and narrowed arteries by cutting and replacing the blocked arteries from healthy vessels. The research method used the Patient method: Post ACBG; intervention: active cycle of breathing technique; comparison: other physiotherapy interventions; outcome: functional lung capacity. The results showed that active cycle of breathing technique and routine chest physiotherapy interventions had the same effect on reducing pain, this was evidenced by a p-value of 0.001 which means that active cycle of breathing technique and routine chest physiotherapy showed a significant effect on reducing pain in post coronary artery bypass graft patients. The conclusion of this study is that Active Cycle of Breathing Technique exercises have been proven to improve the functional lung capacity of post coronary artery bypass graft patients.

Abstract

Emergency situations can occur anytime and anywhere, including in the home environment. Unfortunately, not all family members have the basic knowledge and skills to provide first aid before medical assistance arrives. The purpose of this community service activity is to improve family preparedness in dealing with emergencies through first aid training. The activity methods include counseling, practical training, and evaluation before and after the activity. The activity was carried out in RW 05, Sukamaju Village, Bandung City, involving 30 participants from family representatives. The results showed an increase in participants' knowledge and skills regarding first aid after training. This activity is expected to be the first step in forming a family that is alert and responsive in dealing with emergencies at home.

Abstract

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a pathological lung condition characterized by progressive and not fully reversible airflow obstruction. One of the main nursing problems that often arises is ineffective airway clearance due to accumulation of secretions. This study aims to describe the nursing care process for COPD patients with a focus on interventions for ineffective airway clearance. The method used is a descriptive case study with a nursing process approach. The results show that interventions such as effective coughing techniques, positional therapy, and adequate hydration can increase the effectiveness of airway clearance. The conclusion of this study is the need for a holistic and sustainable approach in handling respiratory problems in COPD patients.

Abstract

Cataracts are a cause of blindness which accounts for approximately half of all blindness in the world, especially in developing countries. The mechanism of cataract formation is highly multifactorial. Loss of transparency in the nucleus and cortex of the lens of the eye can occur as a result of oxidation of membrane lipids, structural or enzymatic proteins by peroxides or free radicals induced by UV light. Other factors that can cause cataract formation are degenerative processes and diabetes mellitus). Cataract therapy is a surgical procedure by removing the cloudy lens, because no medical therapy has been proven to remove cataracts in adults. There are many methods that can be done with surgery for cataract patients. One of them is phacoemulsification, which is a cataract surgery using a small incision method. In this technique, liquefaction of the lens is made using an ultrasound probe that is inserted through an incision in the cornea or anterior sclera. This study aims to determine the relationship between age and gender with the incidence of cataracts at the Eye Polyclinic Outpatient Installation in 2022. This is a retrospective analytic study by examining data in the Recamedics Department. The data is grouped by age, sex and type of cataracts. There were 197 patients who came to the eye polyclinic in July 2022. From the results of the study, 197 people suffered from cataracts with a percentage of 88 men (45%) and 109 women (55%) and the age group that suffered the most from cataracts was the age group 53-68 years and the most common cataracts were senile cataract. Analysis of the relationship between age and gender with the incidence of cataracts in the Outpatient Installation (Poly Eyes) for the period of July 2022 obtained a value for the relationship between age and the incidence of cataracts P = 0.846 and the relationship between sex and the incidence of cataracts P = 0.01. Conclusion: In this study there is a significant relationship between gender and the incidence of cataracts and there is no relationship between age and the incidence of cataracts.

Abstract

Systematic nursing services need to focus on identifying and solving problems, and it is hoped that nurses play a role in helping families in providing care at home through the necessary health education for clients. This activity will run more effectively with early planning and health education, with the hope that client care can continue. So discharge planning is very necessary. This study aims to determine the effect of discharge planning on parents' ability to care for children after diarrhea at RSUD Labuang Baji Makassar. This research is a quantitative research with a Quasi Experimental design. The population studied were parents with children suffering from diarrhea who were treated at Labuang Baji Hospital, Makassar. With a sample size of 60 respondents. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The sample was divided into two groups, namely the control group and the treatment group. After both groups were observed regarding knowledge, attitudes and skills. The treatment group was given the dischaege planning intervention, while the control group was not given the intervention. Data were collected using observation sheets and questionnaires with assessments according to the Gutman and Likert scales. Data analysis used t-test, Chi-Square, and Odds Ratio, with a significance level of α = 5% (0.05). Analysis of results in the treatment group using t-test. It was found that there was a significant influence between discharge planning on parents' ability to care for their children after diarrhea. with the expected value (p = 0.00) smaller than the value (0.005). and in the Chi-Square (Fisher's Exact Test) the value P = 0.00 < 0.05 is obtained which can be concluded that there is a relationship between discharge planning and the ability of parents to care for children after diarrhea, whereas in the analysis using the Odds Ratio of the value is 7.5, meaning . Parents who were given discharge planning intervention were 7 times more likely to have greater knowledge, skills and attitudes compared to parents who were not given discharge planning intervention. Meanwhile, in the control group, no influence or relationship was found with the expected t-test value p=0.32 > 0.05 and Chi-Square p=1,000 > 0.05. The conclusion is that there is an influence of discharge planning on parents' ability to care for children after diarrhea.
