Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: Postural balance is a crucial component in the performance of roller skate athletes, especially in maintaining stability during dynamic movements. Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between two postural balance assessment methods: single leg stands and tandem stands, among roller skate athletes aged 10 to 15 years. Method: The study involved 15 athletes selected purposively. Balance data were collected using the single-leg stand and tandem stand tests and analyzed with the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and Pearson correlation test. Result: The results showed that both variables were normally distributed and had a very strong and significant correlation (r = 0.934; p < 0.001). These findings indicate that better balance performance in one method tends to reflect better performance in the other. This confirms that both methods can represent the postural balance ability of roller skate athletes. Conclusion: The study concludes that there is a very strong positive correlation between single leg stand and tandem stand, which can serve as a basis for evaluating and developing balance training programs for roller skate athletes.

Abstract

Background: Maternal and infant mortality remain critical public health challenges worldwide and in Indonesia, requiring continuous and integrated healthcare services. Specific Background: Comprehensive midwifery care from pregnancy through postpartum and family planning is essential to reduce risks of maternal and neonatal complications. Knowledge Gap: Despite the recognition of Continuity of Care (CoC) as a standard approach, limited case-based documentation from Indonesian hospital settings exists, particularly in managing high-risk conditions such as positive HBsAg. Aim: This study aims to describe the implementation of continuity midwifery care provided to a pregnant woman at Rahman Rahim Hospital, Sidoarjo. Results: Using a descriptive case study from May to July 2024, midwifery care included pregnancy management, spontaneous delivery using 60 APN steps, newborn care with immediate immunization, postpartum monitoring, and contraceptive counseling. The client, diagnosed with positive HBsAg, underwent safe delivery, and her newborn received HBIG and Hepatitis B vaccination to prevent vertical transmission. Novelty: This study highlights the application of structured continuity care in a clinical setting while addressing infectious disease concerns. Implications: Findings confirm that continuous and comprehensive midwifery care can reduce maternal and infant risks, strengthen clinical practice, and support national health goals to lower maternal and neonatal mortality rates. Highlights: Structured continuity of care improved maternal and neonatal outcomes Case study addressed high-risk pregnancy with HBsAg positive status Integration of delivery, postpartum, newborn, and family planning care Keywords: Continuity of Care, Midwifery, Pregnancy, Postpartum, Newborn

Abstract

General background: Dysmenorrhea, or menstrual pain, is a condition that disrupts adolescents' daily activities, with prevalence ranging from 16.8% to 81%. It is commonly managed through pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches. Specific background: High school students frequently experience dysmenorrhea, which can interfere with their school performance and well-being. Various non-pharmacological methods, such as herbal remedies and thermal therapies, have been proposed to alleviate symptoms. Knowledge gap: Despite the prevalence of dysmenorrhea, limited research focuses on the effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions among high school students in Indonesia. Aims: This study aims to describe the severity of dysmenorrhea and the methods of pharmacological and non-pharmacological management among female students of SMA Dharma Wanita 1 Gedangan. Results: This quantitative descriptive study, involving 46 tenth-grade students, revealed that 67.4% of respondents experienced mild dysmenorrhea. Among non-pharmacological treatments, 69.6% consumed turmeric herbal remedies, 15.2% used warm compresses, and 10.9% applied warming lotions. Novelty: The study highlights that all non-pharmacological methods effectively reduced the severity of dysmenorrhea among the students, with turmeric herbal remedies being the most popular choice. Implications: These findings suggest the need for collaboration between healthcare professionals, educational authorities, and schools to provide health education on dysmenorrhea management for female adolescents. Highlights: Prevalence: 67.4% of students had mild dysmenorrhea. Treatment: 69.6% used turmeric herbal remedies for pain relief. Recommendation: Promote school-healthcare collaboration for dysmenorrhea management education.
