Abstract

Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) is a highly contagious new type of respiratory disease (pneumonia) caused by coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). All countries are making various efforts to control covid-19, but there are still many infected victims, so WHO has designated this case as a Covid-19 Pandemic. Pregnant women are more susceptible to viral infections; this is due to changes in the immune system and body anatomy. Pregnancy checks in the hospital will be a significant risk for the threat of covid-19 transmission, while services during pregnancy are essential to avoid complications that can occur during pregnancy. This study aims to identify midwives' knowledge and practice regarding the standard of pregnancy services during the Covid 19 pandemic, using a questionnaire given to midwives as health care workers. The study design used a cross-sectional study with a chi-square statistical test to determine health services barriers during the pandemic. They were analyzed descriptivelySanples took with quota sampling, with a total of 30 village midwives in Candi Sidoarjo sub-district. The research instrument used a questionnaire. This study indicates that 70% of midwives have good knowledge but do not implement standard pregnancy care during the pandemic. The analysis results show that there is no relationship between knowledge and standard practice of pregnancy services during the Covid-19 pandemic. Conclusion: Most midwives have good knowledge and do not practice standard pregnancy services during the Covid-19 pandemic. Suggestion. The next research is to identify the achievements of the pregnancy service program during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, health services became a burden for the community. The number of cases of Covid-19 transmission made people reluctant to come to health facilities. Health workers are encouraged to continue carrying out their roles to adapt and provide optimal service to patients. Likewise, midwives are advised to continue to provide maternal and child health services by complying with health protocols. Based on data reported by the Central IBI in June 2020, 974 of 9,296 PMBs were closed, maternal and child health services were temporarily suspended from PMBs who continued to provide services. Most of them did not offer midwifery services following standard health protocols. This study was conducted to describe the evaluation of midwifery service standards during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research design used a cross-sectional with chi-square statistical test to determine the standard practice of midwifery services during the covid-19 pandemic, which was analyzed descriptively. Sampling with quota sampling, with a total of 30 respondents. The research instrument used a questionnaire. The results of this study indicate that in the implementation of midwifery services according to standard health protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic, most of which were 53% carried out according to pregnancy, 67% of deliveries were not carried out according to health protocols, almost 90% of postpartum & BBL services were carried out accordingly, and 100% of family planning services are carried out according to health protocols. The conclusion is that most midwives carry out standard midwifery services during the covid-19 pandemic

Abstract

Childbirth is a moment full of stress that causes pain, fear, and anxiety. Acupressure Hegu LI 4 is one of the techniques to reduce pain during labor. Objective of the study was to identify the difference in pain on first stage active phase of labor in acupressure Hegu LI 4 group and control group. Samples were obtained through consecutive sampling technique from parturient which fulfill inclusion criteria. The study was a quasy experiment design. Data analysis used mean and deviation standard for univariate analysis, Independent Sample T Test for bivariable analysis, and linier regretion for multivariable analysis. Mean of decrease of pain labor in aromatheraphy group was higher than control group. The mean decrease in pain score in the intervention group was 3.03 ± 0.669 while the mean reduction in pain in the control group was 2.07 ± 0.740. The average difference from the Independent Sample T Test obtained significant results with P values 0.001 and 95% C.I. -1,331 - (-0,602). Analysis of external variables that affect the decrease in labor pain scores is anxiety with P value = 0.020. The results of this study are expected to be the basis of studies in the field of midwifery, especially labor on effective methods to reduce labor pain in a non-pharmacological manner.

Abstract

Labor pain is a physiological process with a different intensity for each individual. Lamaze in Bobak (2010) states that 85 - 90% of deliveries take place with pain, and only 10-15% of deliveries take place without pain. Monitoring pain in labor is very important because this is a measure of whether labor can proceed normally or end with an action due to complications. Various attempts were made to overcome labor pain both pharmacologically and non-pharmacologically. One method of handling pain in a non-pharmacological way is to provide birth massage and heat therapy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the combination of birth mass and heat therapy to reduce labor pain in the first phase of active phase. The design in this study is Quasi Experimental Design with Nonequivalent Control Group Design method using pretest - posttest design. The population used was the first phase active mothers in RB Nuril Masrukhah Sidoarjo that met the inclusion criteria. The sampling technique used was consecutive sampling. Data collection was carried out by observing 4 groups of maternal using pre-test and post-test with an observation sheet containing a scale of pain scale assessment with behavioral observation (FLACC behavioral scale). Data analysis using One Way Anova with significance level α = 0.05. The conclusion of this study is that there is no difference in labor pain between groups given a combination of birth massage and heat therapy with a group given birth massage, there is no difference in labor pain between groups given a combination of birth massage and heat therapy with a group given heat therapy, but there are differences between groups that are given a combination of birth massage and heat therapy with the group without treatment.

Abstract

Introduction: Labor pain is one of the greatest pains experienced by a woman in their life. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of acupressure and Quranic recital on labor pain reduction. Methods: The study design uses quasi-experiment with comparison between pretest and posttest on non-equivalent control group. Samples were as many as 30 laboring mothers in each group, totaling 60 samples who had been chosen through consecutive sampling technique. The labor pain was assessed through the NRS (Numeric Rating Scale) then analyzed univariately with mean and standard deviation, followed by independent T-sample statistical test such as bivariate analysis. Results: The average pain reduction score in the Hegu LI 4 acupressure group was higher than the Quranic recital of Surah Ar-Rahman group. The acupressure group average pain reduction was 3.03 ± 0.718 while the Quranic recital group was 2.57 ± 1.006. The difference in the average score of independent T-test was significant with the P < 0.007 and 95% C.I. -0.919-( -0.015)Conclusion: Hegu LI 4 acupressure and Quranic recital of Surah Ar-Rahman treatments were promising and may be utilized to reduce labor pain intensity within labor’s first stage active phase. Hegu LI 4 acupressure group   had a greater reduction in labor pain intensity than the Quranic recital of Surah Ar-Rahman group. This study suggests that Hegu LI 4 can be utilized to reduce labor pain as a non-pharmacological therapy.
