Abstract

The hotel industry focused on the next generation's talent workforce, which would be Generation Z. This study examined the motivation of this generation to work in the hotel industry. Using the TPB (Theory Planned Behavior) framework, researchers deploy a partial least square (PLS) regression to measure their purpose within the industry after graduation. Using data from 239 vocational students from various hotel schools in Greater Jakarta, Indonesia, we examine the positive attitude, negative attitude, subjective norms, and perceived difficulties in the relationship of their intention to work in the hotel industry. We found that positive attitude, negative attitude, and subjective norms showed significant relations to the perceived difficulties. This result provides practical solutions for hotel managers and educational institutions to come up with special management programs to attract more Generation Z to the hotel industry.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to examine the factors influencing the adoption of cloud kitchen technology by micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek) using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The focus is on understanding the roles of perceived usefulness, ease of use, perceived benefits, value, risk, and technological knowledge in shaping adoption decisions. Methodology/approach: This research employs a quantitative approach through structured surveys distributed to MSME owners in Jabodetabek. The survey assessed TAM-based variables, such as perceived usefulness and ease of use, along with contextual variables, including perceived benefit, perceived value, perceived risk, and knowledge of technology. Results/findings: The findings reveal that perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use significantly affect MSMEs’ willingness to adopt cloud kitchen technology. These perceptions are shaped by enterprises' level of technological knowledge, assessment of benefits and value, and risk perception. Cloud kitchens are perceived to offer operational efficiency, lower overhead costs, and broader distribution channels, making them attractive options for MSMEs in competitive markets. Conclusion: MSMEs’ understanding and perception of cloud kitchens’ ease of use and practical benefits significantly influence their adoption. Increasing digital literacy is key to accelerating adoption. Limitations: This study is limited to MSMEs in Jabodetabek, which may restrict the applicability of the results to other regions or business environments. Contribution: This study provides strategic insights for MSMEs, policymakers, and technology developers to support digital transformation in the food service industry.

Abstract

The development of technology has transformed the global economic landscape, including in the realm of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). However, MSME actors in various villages and regions often still have limitations in understanding the importance of digitalization, especially in utilizing technology to promote their products. Therefore, this Community Engagement activity is initiated with the main goal of creating and disseminating understanding about the importance of implementing a profile website, financial management application, and logo in efforts to increase visibility and sales of products for MSME actors in the Serdang Tirta Kencana Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) in Tangerang, Indonesia. The implementation method is based on Community-Based Participatory Research Program (CBPR) with the following stages are location survey, website and logo creation, socialization, and evaluation. Through close collaboration with local stakeholders from BUMDes Serdang Tirta Kencana, this activity has successfully empowered MSME actors with a strong visual identity and significant digital presence. The result is a 95% increase in the skills of MSME actors in BUMDes Serdang Tirta Kencana. It is hoped that through this activity, MSME actors can become competitive and have a positive impact on local economic growth and community empowerment
