Abstract

As tourism grows fast and tourism destinations develops well all around the world, the human capital in the sectors are the most important component of its business which deliver services. The grow affects all aspects of business including hospitality industry. A multicultural working environment in hospitality industry has been practiced since decades due to its international character of business. The condition brought communication challenges to the internal operations more particularly in the front-line departments. This study aims to find out the challenges for foreign workers in the process of communication and how they overcome any communication problems that may occurred in their day-to-day operations in a multicultural hospitality working environment. Different cultures may press the communication problems while the business is about serving people and ensure that all the guest needs are provided well in timely manner. The research is conducted in a three-star-rated hotel in Japan with a multicultural environment and may give insights to the hoteliers who aspire to embrace their future career abroad. The findings are quite interesting since culture is taking the most important part to overcome and handle the situation as it aims to maintain a good working environment.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has a wide and deep impact that has changed patterns of life and behavior both in the business sector and in daily human activities. One of the changing patterns of activity is in the education industry, many educational institutions across the world have closed due to this pandemic, and it could jeopardize the academic calendar. Most educational institutes have shifted to online learning platforms to keep academic activities going. However, the question about the preparedness, designing, and effectiveness of e-learning is still not clearly understood, particularly in Indonesia where the technical constraints like suitability of devices and bandwidth availability pose a serious challenge. This issue is even more challenging in the hospitality vocational education. This paper aims to dig deeper the online learning patterns in the perspective of the students in vocational education as the impact of the pandemic. This study uses a qualitative method by conducting in-depth interviews of 15 participants with the expected result to provide information that can help various parties, such as vocational institutions, teachers, and the hotel industry.

Abstract

Usaha Mikro, Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM) merupakan sektor usaha yang terus setiap tahun semakin bertambah dan mampu bertahan dalam bersaing dengan sector industri usaha lainnya. Kinerja karyawan merupakan aset penting bagi Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) dalam mencapai kesuksesan bisnis. Kualitas hidup karyawan yang baik, dukungan organisasi yang efektif, dan kepuasan kerja yang tinggi merupakan faktor kunci dalam meningkatkan kinerja karyawan. Oleh karena itu, pemahaman tentang faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kinerja karyawan UMKM sangat penting. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji Empowerment of MSME Employees: Quality of Work Life, Organizational Support and Job Satisfaction. Tahapan-tahapan metode yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini yaitu identifikasi masalah, mendefinisikan masalah, mengembangkan hipotesis, menentukan pengukuran variabel, pengumpulan data, menganalisis data menggunakan perangkat lunak SmartPLS menguji outer model dan inner model, dan menginterpretasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan quality of work life berpengaruh positif terhadap kinerja karyawan, dukungan organisasional berpengaruh positif terhadap kinerja karyawan, quality of work life berpengaruh positif terhadap kepuasan kerja, dukungan organisasional berpengaruh positif terhadap kepuasan kerja, quality of work life berpengaruh positif terhadap kinerja karyawan dengan dimediasi kepuasan kerja, dan dukungan organisasional berpengaruh positif terhadap kinerja karyawan dengan dimediasi kepuasan kerja.

Abstract

Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) merupakan pilar fundamental perekonomian Indonesia, namun pertumbuhannya kerap terhambat oleh keterbatasan kapasitas manajerial dan inovasi. Komunitas bisnis seperti Tangan Di Atas (TDA) berupaya menjawab tantangan ini melalui program mentoring, tetapi menghadapi kendala seperti keterbatasan mentor ahli dan keberagaman level bisnis anggota. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan merancang dan mengimplementasikan sebuah model mentoring yang efektif melalui kolaborasi strategis antara akademisi dari perguruan tinggi dengan komunitas praktisi wirausaha. Hasil dari pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah ditemukannya model Mentoring Akademik bagi Wirausaha. Model ini mengintegrasikan kerangka teoretis akademis dengan kebutuhan praktis wirausaha, menggunakan pendekatan berjenjang yang disesuaikan dengan level bisnis peserta, serta melibatkan akademisi sebagai mentor ahli untuk mengatasi kelangkaan sumber daya internal komunitas. Model Sekeleton Mentoring ini memberikan kerangka acuan praktis bagi perguruan tinggi lain untuk terlibat dalam pemberdayaan UMKM secara efektif, menjembatani kesenjangan antara teori dan praktik di lapangan.

Abstract

Abstrak Desa Girikerto merupakan salah satu desa di Kabupaten Sleman, Yogyakarta, tepatnya dikecamatan Turi. Mayoritas masyarakat di Desa bermata pencaharian  sebagai petani salak. Sejauh ini, hasil lokal masih belum sepenuhnya dikelola dan dirasakan manfaatnya bagi mayarakat Desa Girikerto. Petani buah salak umumnya menjual buah salak dalam bentuk segar kepada tengkulak atau ke pengepul di wilayah tersebut. Permasalahan pertama yang sering dihadapi adalah harga salak yang sangat fluktuatif. Pada saat musim panen raya (ada beberapa bulan seperti bulan agustus-september dan desember-januari) hasil salak pondoh melimpah di pasaran. Sehingga harga salak dapat turun drastis, kemudian para tengkulak membeli salak hanya dengan harga Rp. 1.000 – Rp. 2.000 per kg. Seiring berkembangnya teknologi serta kebutuhan yang ada dipasaran, maka dengan berinovasi dan kreativitas mengolah makanan milenial dari bahan salak merupakan peluang yang dapat dimanfaatkan oleh para petani salak. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah Melalui kegiatan pemanfaatan buah salak sebagai bahan baku dalam usaha maka wirausaha pada petani salak, serta memberikan pelatihan dan akses untuk petani memiliki branding dan kegaiatan pemasaran secara digital diharapkan akan bisa membantu masyarakat setempat untuk meningkatkan pendapatan para petani dan keluarga. Metode pelaksanaan dengan melakukan sosialisasi, pelatihan pembuatan produk, digital marketing, workshop, pendampingan dan evaluasi kegiatan. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian ini berupa produk olahan buah salak (Selai, Manisan, Asinan dan Sirup Salak) dan digital marketing (Intagram, Tik-Tok, Halaman Facebook, Shopee, Web Bisnis). Kata kunci: pelatihan; petani salak; buah salak; inovasi; digital marketing. Abstract Girikerto Village is a village in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta, specifically in the Turi sub-district. The majority of the village's residents earn their living as snake fruit farmers. To date, local produce has not been fully managed and its benefits felt by the Girikerto community. Snake fruit farmers generally sell fresh snake fruit to middlemen or collectors in the area. The first problem often faced is the highly fluctuating price of snake fruit. During the peak harvest season (several months such as August-September and December-January), the pondoh snake fruit is abundant in the market. As the price of snake fruit drops drastically, middlemen then buy snake fruit for only Rp. 1,000 - Rp. 2,000 per kg. With the development of technology and market demand, innovation and creativity in processing millennial foods from snake fruit is an opportunity that snake fruit farmers can capitalize on. The purpose of this community service is Through the activity of utilizing snake fruit as raw material in business, entrepreneurship in snake fruit farmers, as well as providing training and access for farmers to have branding and digital marketing activities is expected to be able to help local communities to increase the income of farmers and their families. The implementation method is by conducting socialization, product making training, digital marketing, workshops, mentoring and evaluation of activities. The results of this community service activity are processed snake fruit products (Jam, Candied, Pickled and Snake Fruit Syrup) and digital marketing (Intagram, Tik-Tok, Facebook Page, Shopee, Business Web). Keywords: training; salak fruit; salak farmers; innovation; digital marketing.
