Abstract

The use of virtual reality as a marketing tool for conventional tourism has seen an increasing adoption, as it enhances the engagement between virtual tourists and the showcased destinations. This study evaluates the effectiveness of Virtual Reality (VR) in enhancing the tourism experience at Alamendah Tourism Village, Bandung. A quantitative approach was used, with data collected through structured questionnaires distributed to 385 potential tourists who had experienced the village’s VR tour. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was employed to analyze the relationships between system quality, immersive perception, authenticity, satisfaction, and visit intention. The analysis process was supported by the SmartPLS application. The results indicate that system quality significantly influences immersive perception and authenticity, which in turn affects tourist satisfaction and visit intention. Moreover, immersive perception was found to mediate the relationship between system quality and authenticity. This study concludes that investment in high-quality VR technology and the creation of authentic immersive content is essential for tourism village managers to enhance tourist engagement and satisfaction. These findings suggest that VR can optimize the unique features of tourism villages, such as cultural authenticity and natural beauty. Additionally, VR can offer a deeper and more fulfilling experience when enjoying tourism in the village. Therefore, the implementation of VR can serve as a strategic tool to boost tourist loyalty and long-term success in the tourism village sector.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of community involvement and attachment on the development of pioneer tourism villages, specifically focusing on Panundaan Tourism Village in West Java, Indonesia. Employing a quantitative methodology, the research utilizes structured questionnaires to gather data from residents, analyzing their perceptions of the costs and benefits associated with tourism development. Utilizing Social Exchange Theory as a theoretical framework, this study seeks to understand how perceived costs and benefits influence community support for tourism initiatives and how these perceptions correlate with residents' life satisfaction. The analysis, conducted through Structural Equation Modeling, reveals that deeper community attachment enhances perceived benefits but also heightens awareness of costs. The findings highlight the complex interplay between community involvement, perceived benefits, and life satisfaction, offering insights into strategies for sustainable tourism development in pioneer tourism villages.

Abstract

The phenomenon of Covid-19 as the pandemic era changes many factors in our social life, especially in tourist intention, satisfaction, and quality. It is important to be discussed because that phenomenon affects the development of visitor behavioral intention.  Based on those backgrounds, this study aims to determine visitor behavioral intention in virtual reality (VR), including the experience with both content and system quality of satisfaction as the determinant factors. The data was obtained from 350 visitors visiting tourist destinations in the greater Bandung region, Indonesia via VR. A self-administered questionnaire was employed using an online survey. The analysis was carried out by using Partial Least Square (PLS) modeling. Results of the analysis show that the experience with content quality has an important role in shaping the behavioral intention of visiting a tourism destination via VR. Next, there is no significant difference in the moderating role of gender and VR experience on the relationships between variables in the behavioral intention model. This study broadens our understanding of the use of the information success model to assess visitor intention in VR tourism and assists practitioners in developing strategies to build and maintain visitor intention to visit and recommend VR tourism.
