Abstract

Information technology (IT) plays a critical role in supporting operations and decision-making in higher education institutions. At Universitas Teknologi Bandung (UTB), reliance on IT systems for academic administration, online learning, and data management has increased the risk of security incidents such as clickjacking, unrestricted file uploads, cross-site scripting (XSS), misconfiguration, excessive data exposure, and server downtime. This study applies the ISO 31000:2018 risk management framework to systematically identify, assess, and analyze IT security risks in UTB’s information systems. Using a 5x5 risk matrix, risks were evaluated based on probability and impact, revealing that moderate risks dominate, primarily from clickjacking, XSS, unrestricted file upload, and server downtime incidents, while misconfiguration and excessive data exposure represent low-level risks requiring ongoing monitoring. Common causes include weak input/output validation, insecure system configurations, and inadequate access controls and data sanitization. Proposed mitigation efforts focus on rigorous source code review before publication, regular penetration testing every 3 to 6 months, and increased awareness of security policies and potential incidents. The findings aim to enhance IT risk management practices at UTB, contributing to stronger governance and the protection of institutional data amid growing digital transformation.

Abstract

This research analyzes the illocutionary acts present in Ridwan Kamil's campaign speeches for the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election. It shows how political speeches change perspectives, audiences, and candidates. Kamil engages diverse voters with his funny, sympathetic, and aggressive communication. This study classifies Kamil's illocutionary acts—assertive, commissive, directive, and expressive—using speech act theory to uncover his political appeal's vocabulary. Voter trust requires 25 assertive actions to develop credibility and 12 commissive acts to express future governance. Directive activities (5), which gain audience support, and expressive acts (2), which provoke emotion, were rarer, showing a tactical concentration on substantive substance. Kamil's remarks match people's expectations for sensible, solution-oriented leadership with clarity and tangible guarantees, according to research. This extensive examination of how language might strategically influence voter behavior and understanding enriches political communication literature. The study proposes future research into cross-cultural comparisons and political speech expression, particularly in different electoral circumstances. Kamil appealed to Jakarta's voters by tailoring his message to diverse audiences in formal and informal settings.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This article analyzes the implementation of kindness oriented instructional approaches in English Language Teaching (ELT). English learning generally still emphasizes mastery of linguistic competencies, such as grammar, vocabulary, and academic achievement, while important aspects of character development, empathy, and social skills tend to receive less attention. This study uses a qualitative literature review method by carefully examining journal articles and other academic sources relevant to kindness-based pedagogy in the context of ELT and education. The literature review is supplemented with academic reflections involving four lecturers from different scholarly backgrounds, namely two lecturers in English pedagogy and two lecturers with expertise in moral education and positive values. The literature analysis results show that kindness-oriented instructional approaches, such as Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Loving Pedagogy, and Altruistic Teaching, significantly contribute to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment. These approaches are related to improving language competence, emotional well-being, classroom interaction, as well as students’ interpersonal communication skills and collaborative learning abilities. The study concludes that the integration of kindness-oriented pedagogical approaches in ELT strongly supports academic achievement as well as holistic student development. The contribution of this article is providing a comprehensive conceptual review of kindness-based ELT that can serve as an alternative in effectively integrating character education into language learning.
