Abstract

The research carried out was classroom action research with the aim of knowing the implementation of learning, knowing mastery of learning and to determine the improvement of student learning outcomes using the Word Square learning model for Social Studies subjects in Class V SD Negeri 040446 in Kabanjahe, Karo Regency. The subject of this research is class V totaling 25 people and the object of this research is using the Word Square Model. The instruments used are observation sheets and multiple choice tests. Based on the results of this study, it was found that the implementation of learning in teacher activities was 80% good criteria, while classical completeness was 88% and learning outcomes increased 5%. Thus, this research can be concluded that, the implementation of learning criteria is good, student learning outcomes are completed and improved classically using the Word Square Model for Social Studies Subject Class V SD Negeri 040446 in Kabanjahe Academic Year 2021/2022.

Abstract

Membaca merupakan cara untuk mendapatkan ilmu untuk setiap seseorang yang tekun dalam menjalankannya. Salah satu keterampilan berbahasa yaitu membaca, keterampilan membaca adalah keterampilan dasar bagi peserta didik, yang harus mereka kuasai terdapat mengikuti seluruh kegiatan dalam proses pendidikan dan pembelajaran. Kemampuan membaca akan sangat berpengaruh pada keberhasilan peserta didik dalam proses belajar mengajar disekolah. Begitu besarnya kemanfaatan membaca, maka masalah membaca oleh pemerintah kita harus mendapat perhatian serius. Target yang ingin dicapai dari program ini adalah anak-anak dapat meningkatkan kemampuan literasi membaca dengan media buku dongeng. Membaca buku yang menarik bagi anak dapat membuat minat anak terhadap buku dan membaca akan meningkat. Apalagi jika buku yang mereka baca dilengkapi dengan gambar berwarna yang menarik perhatian anak usia sekolah dasar. Pelaksanaan program pengabdian ini dilakukan melalui tahapan sebagai berikut; Pertama anak-anak akan diberikan buku bacaan berupa cerita dongeng dari berbagai suku bangsa yang ada di Indonesia. Kedua, setelah anak-anak membaca sebagian atau seluruh cerita, anak kemudian diminta menceritakan kembali hasil bacaan mereka dengan bahasa mereka sendiri. Setelah mengikuti kegiatan ini, terlihat hasilnya anak- anak dapat semakin  berkreativitas dengan baik dan menambah minat mereka terhadap bahan bacaan lainnya.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of using Indonesian-language instructional videos on the listening skills of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 030279 Sidikalang in the 2024/2025 academic year. This study employed a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of one class comprising 22 students. Data were collected using 10 multiple-choice questions, 5 short-answer questions, and observations. The results of data analysis showed a significant improvement in listening skills after using the Indonesian-language instructional videos, with the average pretest score of 33.40 increasing to a posttest score of 77.95. Statistical analysis using the paired sample t-test revealed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores, with a significance value (p-value) of 0.000 < 0.05. The calculated t-value was 7.240, which was greater than the t-table value of 2.012. Thus, the hypothesis testing results indicated that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H) was rejected. These findings indicate that the use of Indonesian-language instructional videos has a positive effect on improving the listening skills of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 030279 Sidikalang.
