Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has shaken Indonesia's macroeconomy. The economic growth experienced a contraction accompanied by an increase in poverty and unemployment. On the other hand, the COVID-19 pandemic also provides an opportunity for the growth of the digital economy. Digitalization that goes well will increase economic activity due to greater accessibility. However, there has been a decline in income during the pandemic. Therefore, this research aims to learn whether digitalization can improve income levels by understanding the impact of having a cell phone and accessing the internet for economic activities towards revenues. Here, the treatment effect is conducted to estimate the magnitude of that impact and identify the factors determining digitalization (have a cell phone and access the internet for economic activities). This research uses secondary data obtained from the Indonesia family life survey fifth wave. The result shows that the income of someone who can digitize is higher than that of non-digitalization participants, indicating the digitalization significantly contributes to increased revenues. Moreover, object perception for having a cell phone and accessing the internet for economic activities supports people's interest in digitalization mainly due to happiness, subjective well-being, and marital status.

By using a qualitative approach through literature study, this research identifies the challenges faced by Sharia MSMEs in adopting digital technology and explores strategies for integrating Sharia values with technological innovation. The documents obtained included the female student organization's work program for preventing digital-based violence against women. The results, the santriwati's role in overcoming violence against women using the KUPI trilogy approach, namely santriwati as agents of pioneering good content in the digital world (ma'ruf), santriwati together with santri act as partners in the digital world (mubadalah), and santriwati as drivers of social justice in the digital world (keadilan hakiki). Abstract

Pro equality growth is a condition of increasing economic growth with a reduction in income inequality. Data shows that in the last three decades, actual governement debt has increased. The main focus of this study is to prove whether government debt can produce pro equality growth. Moreover, there are two objectives in this study: (i) to investigate the impact of government debt on economic growth; and (ii) to investigate the impact of government debt on income inequality. This study uses panel data from 21 lower middle-income countries between 1989 and 2017. Method used in this study is three stage least squares (3sls). The estimation results show that government debt, has not been able to realize pro equality growth. Government debt can stimulate economic growth, but income inequality worsened. Although debt can be used as an investment in productive activities, the use of government debt cannot increase the accessibility and productivity of the poor. There are direct and indirect effects between government debt and income inequality. On the other hand, there is only a direct effect between government debt and economic growth, and there is no indirect effect through the income inequality pathway.

Abstract

This study explores the lived experiences of customers utilizing Islamic home financing in Malang City, Indonesia, focusing on how they perceive the practice beyond its financial transactions. While Indonesia's Islamic banking sector continues to expand, limited research examines how customers internalize ethical and spiritual values within financing schemes such as murābaḥah and mushārakah mutanāqiṣah. Using Husserl's descriptive phenomenology, in-depth interviews were conducted with clients of Islamic banks in Malang. The analysis revealed four key themes: (1) religious, economic, and practical motivations influencing financing decisions; (2) the conceptualization of home ownership as a symbol of dignity, familial trust, and intergenerational security; (3) experiences of financial challenges and adaptive strategies for fulfilling obligations; and (4) spiritual meanings of home financing as a path to divine blessing (barakah) and worship. These findings demonstrate that Islamic home financing functions not merely as a financial instrument but also as a multidimensional lived experience that integrates material and spiritual aspirations. Theoretically, this research enriches Islamic finance literature through phenomenological insights, while practically offering implications for Islamic financial institutions and regulators to strengthen ethical service delivery, product innovation, and consumer literacy aligned with the maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah framework.
