Abstract

The background of this quantitative research stems from the increasing cases of bullying experienced by children. The objectives of this study are to address several questions: (1) Does the democratic parenting style influence child’s resilience? (2) Does the democratic parenting style influence bullying behavior? (3) Does a child's resilience play a role in overcoming bullying at school? and (4) Does a child's resilience mediates the influence of democratic parenting styles on bullying? The research population consists of 150 parents with primary school-aged children in Denpasar, Bali. This research was conducted in the third week of January 2023 to September 2023. Data collection instruments include questionnaires distributed to parents in both online Google Forms and physical questionnaire sheets. Data processing and mediation effect testing are analyzed using the SmartPLS version 4.0 software application. The research concludes that a democratic parenting style positively and significantly influences the resilience of elementary school children. This suggests that an increasingly better democratic parenting style can produce children with high self-resilience, enabling them to overcome bullying and other challenges they will face in their lives. However, statistically, the resilience of elementary school children does not mediate the influence of the democratic parenting style variable on the bullying variable.

Abstract

This school action research used focus group discussions to increase mastery of RAISE values among Perhimpunan Pendidikan dan Pengajaran Kristen (PPPK) members. The research subjects consisted of 5 members of the PPPK Petra association. This research uses an instrument in the form of the RAISE Values Mastery Questionnaire to determine the level of mastery of RAISE values, then uses a rubric and assessment form to assess mastery of the material when the focus group discussion is conducted. Researchers collected data by providing a checklist as a form of involvement of association members during discussions carried out through focus group discussions. This research uses the method proposed by LeMire et al. (2019) in two cycles. The initial condition is pre-cycle mastery of the RAISE value of 73.71%. The first treatment involves conducting the initial trial or cycle and supplying the association's members with materials, obtaining mastery of the RAISE value of 81.76%, an increase of 8.05%. By providing materials containing focus group talks and questions and answers, the experimental investigation for the second stage was able to acquire 82.50% mastery of the RAISE score. The results of the second stage increased by 8.78% from the pre-cycle stage and 0.74% from the second stage. The treatment given by testing the significance of the differences for the first and second cycles compared to the pre-cycle was found to be significant. There was a substantial difference between the outcomes of the first and second cycles of the various t-tests. The treatment given in the form of an experiment shows that providing materials, focus group discussions, and adequate explanations can increase the mastery of RAISE values among PPPK Petra Surabaya members. The practical contribution of research for practitioners and education managers is to regularly disseminate information about organizational values and provide ongoing training to increase the meaning of the organization's values. Theoretical contribution of research by enriching organizational culture, communication, and human resources development theories.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance the motivation and learning outcomes in mathematics for second-grade students at Cita Hati Christian School through the implementation of Polya's procedure in cooperative learning of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type in Mathematics lesson. This research uses the classroom action research (CAR) method conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 22 second-grade students. The instruments used in this study include observation sheets and learning outcome tests. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of Polya's procedure in TGT-type cooperative learning can improve students' motivation and learning outcomes. This is evidenced by the consistent average motivation scores of 100% in both the first and second cycles. Additionally, students' learning outcomes also showed improvement, with the average test scores increasing from 91% in the first cycle to 95% in the second cycle. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of Polya's procedure in TGT-type cooperative learning is effective in enhancing the motivation and learning outcomes in mathematics for second-grade students at Cita Hati Christian School.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) guru kelas II di SD Kristen Petra 10 Surabaya melalui penggunaan Instructional Coaching. TPACK merupakan kerangka kerja yang mengintegrasikan pengetahuan teknologi, pedagogi, dan konten untuk mengembangkan pembelajaran yang efektif. Instructional Coaching adalah pendekatan pembinaan yang melibatkan kolaborasi antara guru dan pelatih untuk memperbaiki praktik mengajar dan hasil belajar siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan desain spiral yang terdiri dari empat tahap: perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Penelitian ini melibatkan dua guru kelas II sebagai subjek penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa melalui proses Instructional Coaching, terjadi peningkatan signifikan pada kompetensi TPACK guru. Para guru menjadi lebih mahir dalam mengintegrasikan teknologi ke dalam pembelajaran, memahami bagaimana teknologi dapat mendukung pedagogi yang efektif, serta meningkatkan pemahaman konten mata pelajaran. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa Instructional Coaching merupakan strategi yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kompetensi TPACK guru kelas II di SD Kristen Petra 10 Surabaya. Rekomendasi diberikan kepada sekolah untuk terus menerapkan dan mengembangkan kompetensi TPACK guru melalui program coaching ini guna meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan.

Abstract

Teacher competence in developing learning module in the current implementation of the Independent Curriculum is very important because learning module determines the learning quality in the classroom. This School Action Research aimed to increase the competency of teachers at Kalam Kudus Christian Junior High School in developing learning module using Mentoring Method and TIRTa Model Coaching Methods, with three recipients who were teaching in grades VII and VIII. The researcher used learning modules as the assessed product and observed the teachers’ competence from both pedagogical and professional aspects. The result was very encouraging because it was found that: (1) the subjects got better understanding of the components in the learning module according to its standards; (2) the subjects were able to compose better quality of learning module; (3) the subjects’ pedagogical and professional competence increased; (4) The TIRTa model was very effective for mentoring and coaching since it built the subjects’ awareness of setting goals, identifying strengths and weaknesses, making action plans, and taking responsibility for their plans. This success was shown in the result that the competence of three subjects in the pre-cycle belonged to poor category (< 71), but of cycle I the two subjects got poor category and the other one got average category, and at the end of cycle II all of the subjects changed to good (81 -90).

Abstract

Conducting learning assessments is a teacher's activity aimed at collecting evidence of learning objective achievement. Teacher competence plays a crucial role in formulating learning assessments, ensuring they go beyond written tests alone. An action research was conducted with the objective of evaluating the use of the GROW-ME Coaching Model to enhance English teachers' competence in developing learning assessments. The research was carried out in two cycles, each involving four stages: Planning, Implementation, Observation, and Reflection. Coaching was conducted during the Implementation stage following the GROW-ME model, including Goal, Reality, Option, Will/What Next, Monitoring, and Evaluation. The research subjects were three English teachers at Masa Depan Cerah Christian Elementary School. The results of the research indicate that the use of the GROW-ME Coaching Model is effective in improving teacher competence in crafting learning assessments. By the end of the second cycle, two subjects achieved scores of 91 (Excellent), while one subject scored 80 (Good). Thus, all three subjects met the success criteria with a minimum score in the Good category.

Abstract

Creativity of PAUD teachers are needed in learning and teaching activities. Teacher competency influences student learning outcomes. PAUD teachers are required to have a set of attitudes, knowledge and skills in increasing stimulation of all aspects of early childhood development. Creativity as the ability to produce meaningful learning. Observation results shows that teacher’s creativity at Petra Christian Kindergarten is low. This research was conducted to determine the application of the GROW ME model coaching method in increasing teacher’s creativity in teaching and learning activities at Petra Christian Kindergarten, Jombang, East Java. This research is a qualitative methods research that refers to the Kemmis and Mctaggart model. The research was conducted in two cycles using the plan-action-observe-reflect stages in each cycle. Research results, the application of the GROW ME coaching model can increase teacher’s creativity in learning and teaching activities at Petra Christian Kindergarten. In the end of first cycle showed results of improvement in 9 research subjects with quite good intensity, an average increase of 12.4%, however, to continue to strengthen the results, another stage was carried out in the second cycle The results of observations in cycle II again showed various and almost even increases in the range of increases among the 9 research subjects. It is necessary to continue providing assistance to strengthen the further results.
