Abstract

The figure of the Kiai has social power for both students and the community. The purpose of this research is to find the meaning of the students towards the Kiai’s social power which will be adopted into the quality of the counselor. This study uses a qualitative approach with symbolic interactionism. Researchers get the meanings that are built from interactions with individuals in human society. Data collection used through interviews, observations, and documents. The results of interpreting student to Kiai’s social power that can be adopted into the quality of the counselor are: (1) Strong spirituality oriented to happiness in the world and the hereafter; (2) Models means that the counselor's behavior becomes a medium of behavior; (3) Social Influence and devotion to society.

Abstract

Pappaseng Bugis (the message of Bugis parents) is used as a way of life and social control because it contains content full of good meaning that can shape student behavior for the better. The purpose of this study is to describe the ethical values of Bugis pappaseng. The value of the results of this study was adopted as bibliocounseling content in the KIPAS model counseling step to improve the social skills of high school students. Research and development (R&D) research method with analysis of expert test data and prospective users through interrater agreement model. Based on data analysis, the ethical values found: sipakatau, sipakalebbi', and sipakainge' cultures are used as bibliocounseling content in the KIPAS counseling step. The implementation process follows the KIPAS steps, namely Good News, Data Integration and Internalization, Action Planning, Action Actualization, and Celebration.
