Abstract

The paper aims to present the process of preliminary study on Acehnese manuscript about fara’idh. The script presented the law in the form of a compact table, written in Jawi script and Arabic. The research studied the table formation and filled it with the content of another fara’idh table from the current reference. This step was done to do the comparison of the two tables to get insights of the old table before further investigation about its mathematical properties. Previous investigation showed some differences in the writing of parts of the tables. This research continued to see the differences of the whole tables. Further purpose is to re implement the usage of the table in Acehnese daily use as well as broader advantage

Abstract

The polar coordinate system is a coordinate system with each point in a field determined by a distance from a certain point and an angle from a particular direction. Several graph models of polar equations are developed to produce artistic forms that have symmetrical properties. The Original Logo of Syiah Kuala University is one of this kind of interesting artistic forms. This paper will discuss the form of Syiah Kuala University's Original Logo using polar coordinates. Keywords: The polar coordinate system, graph of polar equation, The Original Logo of Syiah Kuala University

Abstract

The Good Boussinesq equation is a hyperbolic partial differential equation, for which the analytical solution is generally difficult to determine thus necessitating a numerical approach. This study aims to obtain the numerical solution of the Good Boussinesq equation using the method of Lines and to calculate the accuracy of this method in solving the equation. Numerical simulation were also conducted to compare the numerical solution with the analytical solution in the form of a single soliton. Subsequently, a numerical simulation was performed to compare the numerical solution with the analytical solution in the form of a single soliton. The simulation conducted for a single soliton as an analytical solution demonstrates that the numerical solution closely approximates the analytical solution, as indicated by the nearly identical shapes and positions of the resulting wave. This is also indicated by the relatively small Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 1.89E-03, which shows that the Method of Lines is quite effective in solving the numerical solution of the Good Boussinesq equation based on the calculation of squared errors.

Abstract

Recent discourse in mathematics education emphasizes the need for culturally relevant pedagogy and the integration of higher-order thinking skills, yet limited research explores the intersection of ethnomathematics and computational thinking within school curricula. This study addresses this gap by proposing a novel instructional framework that incorporates computational thinking into the ethnomathematical exploration of Rumoh Aceh—a traditional Acehnese house—within the context of junior high school geometry education in Indonesia. The research aims to enhance students’ understanding of geometric concepts such as lines, angles, shapes, and spatial structures through culturally grounded learning experiences. Using the four core components of computational thinking—decomposition, abstraction, pattern recognition, and algorithmic thinking—the geometric design of Rumoh Aceh is analyzed to reveal its mathematical significance. Data collection was conducted through ethnographic methods, including observation, interviews with local experts, and documentation analysis. The findings demonstrate that applying computational thinking to cultural artifacts fosters students’ ability to recognize geometric patterns, simplify complex problems, and develop structured problem-solving strategies. Furthermore, the integration of cultural context enriches students’ appreciation of their heritage while cultivating critical thinking and mathematical reasoning. This study provides empirical evidence supporting the pedagogical value of merging ethnomathematics with computational thinking, offering a meaningful and culturally responsive approach to mathematics education.

Abstract

The problem in the management of a public area is to determine aspects that contribute most as its best practices. This paper explores the contributions of the Kuala Langsa Mangrove Forest located in Langsa City, Aceh Province, for ecotourism and disaster mitigation. This research was intended to analyze the aspects of forest management that has successfully reformed dry coast into an ecotourism site. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) as a multicriteria decision making method was used to analyze the best indicators data. This method was selected as the suitable method since it utilizes the objectivity of mathematics in comparing some subjective criteria to obtain the best indicators. The implementation of the AHP method consists of three stages: the development of the criteria’s hierarchy table; the development of pairwise matrix related to the intention of giving weights for the criterion’s elements; the logical concistency verification of the matrix. Indicators were written on a five point scale related to a value judgement. The results of the research show that as an ecotourism site, the activities of the mangrove forest are motivated and based on the existing rules which attract people to become interested. The role of the local government has resulted: developed the programs according to the existing mangrove management law that reached 67% among other law related indicators; budget allocation priority by self-generating which get priority of 59% among budget indicators; oriented on the increasing of fishermen, obtained 49% of economical function elements; encouraged the involvement and partnership of the local resources around the mangrove forest which reached 31% among other programs offered and sustainability approach by considering ecological functions aspect. For physical contribution for disaster mitigation, the largest dissipation is given by Rhizophora mucronata due to its height compared to the other types.
