Abstract

Arabic verbs are formed by adding components to indicate number, gender, and tense. The mastery of verb formation in the present tense (fi'il muḍāri') is still weak among students. This study aims to identify the types of errors in forming fi'il muḍāri' and to analyze the factors that lead to these errors. This study is qualitative in nature, using a content analysis design. Data was collected through document analysis by examining 108 scripts of final exam answers from students enrolled in the Arabic Language Level 1 course (PBU1133) at the Faculty of Education, Language, and Communication, UNIMAS. The data was analyzed using a descriptive and thematic approach assisted by NVivo software. The study found that students made several errors in forming fi'il muḍāri'. The factors contributing to these errors are that students are confused about the various Arabic grammar methods, have poor mastery of the aspects of Arabic orthography, and lack proficiency in the rules for forming the fi'il muḍāri'. The results of this study can serve as a guide in teaching and learning sessions to ensure that types of errors in the formation of fi'il muḍāri' can be avoided by placing special emphasis on the factors that contribute to these errors.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of wife maintenance from the perspective of gender equality using  the maqashid sharia approach  by examining the gap between the normative construction of classical fiqh. This research method uses a qualitative approach based on library research with a focus on classical and contemporary fiqh texts, the Qur'an, hadith, and academic literature related to wife's maintenance, sharia maqashid, and gender equality. The research population included the entire Islamic legal literature on alimony with purposive sampling samples on relevant works. The research procedure includes data collection, classification based on the main theme, critical analysis with the framework of sharia maqashid, and synthesis of new concepts. Analysis techniques are in the form of content analysis and critical hermeneutics. The results of the study show that the understanding of classical fiqh is rigid and less responsive to modern socio-economic changes. Through the sharia maqashid approach, alimony can be understood more broadly, not only as a material obligation of the husband, but also as a collective responsibility that includes emotional, spiritual, and social aspects, according to the principles of justice and benefit. The conclusion of this study confirms that Islamic law is dynamic and adaptive, so the concept of alimony must be reinterpreted to be relevant to the modern context and support the principle of gender equality. The follow-up plan of the research is directed at empirical studies through field research and comparisons between Muslim countries.

Abstract

Current migration often represents a quest for self-betterment and increased religious commitment, mainly accomplished through Arabic language study. This language emphasis stems from the Quran and Sunnah being in Arabic, constituting the core teachings of Islam. Muslims must grasp the foundational elements of Islam, making proficiency in Arabic essential. Learning the language is not merely a duty but a vital prerequisite for understanding and fulfilling the obligations outlined in the Quran and Sunnah, emphasizing the significance of studying Sharia. In a scholarly exploration of motives for learning Arabic, 86% to 98% of respondents were motivated by a desire to learn Islam and gain knowledge of Islamic civilization. This study seeks to outline the application of the Arabic language curriculum specifically designed for studying Fiqh and Hadith within the Language Preparation Department at Imam Shafi'i University in Jember. This study employed a qualitative approach to comprehend the overall experience of the research subject. It utilized descriptive linguistic expressions within a specific natural context, employing diverse scientific methods. The results show that teaching Arabic for specific purposes is segmented into two stages: beginner and advanced. Each stage involves distinct materials and instructional hours. Likewise, there are differences in credit hours between the standard Arabic language program and the specialized program for specific purposes.
