Abstract

Thrombocytopenia is a frequent complication in patients with cirrhosis. Thrombocytopenia is generally divided into mild, moderate, and severe thrombocytopenia. Thrombocytopenia in liver cirrhosis not only increases the risk of bleeding during surgery but can also have an impact on patient management, such as liver biopsy, administration of antiviral therapy, and postponement of elective surgery. The pathophysiology of thrombocytopenia in chronic liver disease can be caused by decreased platelet production, sequestration in the spleen, and increased platelet destruction. Partial splenic embolization (PSE) is one option for treating thrombocytopenia in chronic liver disease. PSE is an effective procedure in treating complications associated with hypersplenism and portal hypertension, such as esophageal varices, pancytopenia, portal hypertensive gastropathy and ascites.

Abstract

Background: A liver abscess is defined as a pus-filled mass in the liver that can develop from injury to the liver or an intraabdominal infection disseminated from the portal circulation. Objective: The aim was to discuss about liver abscesses are categorized into pyogenic or amoebic caused by Entamoeba histolytica. Methods: This is a case report that reported about pus-filled mass in the liver. Results: A male patient, 53 years old, was admitted to Hospital for Upper right abdominal pain, Fever, Cough, Pain in the lower right chest. Chest examination found weakened bronchovesicular breath sounds as high as RIC V, Pleural Friction Rub, wet crackles. Abdominal Examination found supel palpation, liver palpable 2 fingers below the arcus costae and 2 fingers below the process xiphoid, blunt edge, soft consistency, tenderness pain in the dextra hypochondrium. Laboratory report Anti Amoeba : Positive 40,3 unit. The patient was given intravenous metronidazole therapy 3x750 mg for 10 days. Conclusion: Complications of amoebic liver abscess is pleuropulmonary involvement. Pulmonary and pleural amebiasis is an uncommon disease, usually occurring on the right side of the lung compared to the left side.

Abstract

This study reviews innovative digital pedagogies integrated into mathematics and science classrooms, focusing on tools such as virtual simulations, dynamic geometry software, augmented reality, mobile applications, flipped classrooms, and intelligent tutoring systems. The purpose is to examine their impact on student engagement, conceptual understanding, and pedagogical effectiveness. Findings indicate that these digital tools enhance interactivity and learner autonomy, promote deeper conceptual understanding through visualization and feedback, and increase student motivation and participation. Adaptive technologies that provide personalized feedback show promise in matching the effectiveness of human tutoring. However, technology alone does not guarantee improved learning outcomes; effective integration requires intentional pedagogical design aligning content, pedagogy, and technology. Challenges include infrastructure limitations and educational inequity, particularly in under-resourced regions. Additionally, a shift in the teacher’s role toward facilitator and designer of learning experiences is critical.
