Abstract

This research was carried out with the aim of finding out the problems found in tenth grade, or what is called Phase E. This research is expected to be able to overcome the problems of students who experience problems in solving problems by looking at students' learning styles. The type of research used in this research is a classroom action research method with a qualitative approach. The instruments used in this research were a learning style questionnaire, observation sheets to observe interactions between teachers and students, as well as interactions between students during the mathematics learning process. This research was conducted in phase E. From the research conducted, it was found that the use of teaching materials with differentiated learning styles can improve students' problem-solving abilities. It can be seen because there is an increase from the initial diagnostic student scores to the second cycle.

Abstract

The problem in learning mathematics is the low ability to think creatively. Students are less able to produce innovative ideas to overcome new problems. This research aims to develop a valid and practical integrated ethnomathematics student worksheet. The type of research used in this research is development research. The research model used is the Plomp model, which divides the development stage into three phases: the initial investigation, development, and assessment. The subjects of this research were one mathematics material expert, 1 Indonesian language expert, and one art expert, as well as three teachers as a test of media practicality. The trial subjects for this research consisted of individual trials consisting of 3 students and small group trials consisting of 9 students. The methods used to collect data are observation, interviews, questionnaires, and tests. The instruments used to collect data were questionnaires and tests. Data analysis techniques are carried out qualitatively and quantitatively, as well as inferential statistics. The results of this research are validation results of 3.63 with a very valid category. The students' practicality results were 93.05 in the very practical category. The students' practical results were 96.04 in the very practical category. The t-test results show an influence of the Ethnomathematics Integrated Student Worksheet on Extensive Measurement Material on students' creative thinking abilities. It was concluded that the Student Worksheet integrated Ethnomathematics in data area measurement material was very valid and very practical, so it was suitable for use in learning in the fourth grade of elementary school.

Abstract

One of mathematical cognitive skills is the problem-solving ability. It is imperative for each student to have a range of abilities in order to deal with or resolve a problem. Habits of mind are abilities that can influence students' ability to solve mathematical problems. It is the aim of this study to examine junior high school students' problem-solving thinking skills. The survey method was used, as opposed to critical observation or qualitative approaches. The sample of this study consisted of 29 ninth graders of junior high school. Data collection was conducted by a test and interviews. According to the findings from the data analysis in this study, students with strong problem-solving abilities exhibited four indicators of thinking habits: persistence, thinking about thinking, thinking flexibility, and the ability to apply past knowledge to new situations. Students with average problem-solving abilities also displayed four indicators of thinking habits, but were lacking in three of them: thinking about thinking, thinking flexibility, and applying past knowledge. Students with poor problem-solving abilities, on the other hand, laked all the indicators of thinking habits.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of advanced calculus courses assisted by GeoGebra using the CIPP model. This evaluation assessed the relevance, effectiveness, and results of applying GeoGebra as an interactive learning medium. The research approach was descriptive quantitative, with data collection through questionnaires and observations. The research subjects were 36 students who attended advanced calculus courses at FMIPA Universitas Negeri Padang in the July–December 2024 semester. The evaluation results show that in the context aspect, the use of GeoGebra is aligned with the curriculum objectives that support the mastery of advanced mathematical concepts and visualization skills. Regarding input, lecturers have basic competence in using GeoGebra, but not all students are familiar with this software. In terms of process, GeoGebra-assisted learning is interactive, although it is constrained by students’ adaptation time to the software. In terms of product, the evaluation results showed increased students’ analytical skills and conceptual understanding, although the increase in exam results was not significant overall. The findings recommend the need for intensive training for lecturers and students related to the use of GeoGebra, the provision of technology-based learning guides, and adjustments to lecture strategies to maximize the effectiveness of GeoGebra in supporting advanced calculus lectures.

Abstract

The study analyzes considerations and directions in choosing the best learning model and media to help students understand the subject. They can complete it based on the characteristics of students so that students can be directly involved during the implementation of learning. A teacher must be able to apply a teaching method appropriate to his pupil's condition because characteristics are unique properties inherent in a person or an object. Each child has different learning characteristics and abilities, so to make learning enjoyable and engaging, it should be relevant to students' daily lives and supported by interactive multimedia. The research method employed was qualitative-descriptive. Meanwhile, the research data was collected through interviews and questionnaires with the students. Research was carried out at three elementary schools in Padang City with 60 subjects. Based on the study identified characteristics of students, among them, students enjoy playing (96.7%), enjoy working with groups (83.3%), engaged in learning activities using interactive multimedia (81.13%), and experienced direct involvement (80%) in the practice or use of such multimedia that arouses student interest in the learning material. Thus, based on the characteristics of elementary school students, contextual learning models aided by multimedia interactive support were implemented to help the learning process.

Abstract

The unavailability of teaching materials that can support mathematical problem-solving abilities and are integrated with Islamic teaching values makes it difficult for SMP IT educators to hone students' mathematical problem-solving abilities and difficulties in instilling Islamic values in students. One solution that educators can use in learning is to use e-modules. E-module is a teaching material that has the characteristics of independent learning principles. This research aims to see the effectiveness of using mathematics e-modules that are integrated with Islamic values in facilitating students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. This type of research is pre-experimental research and the research design is one group pre-test-post test design. The sampling method is purposive sampling, where one class is taken directly from the population as a research sample. The subjects of this research were 24 students in class VIII.1 at SMP IT Qurrata A'yun Batusangkar. The effectiveness of the mathematics e-module can be seen from the comparison of the results of the pre-test and post-test of students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. The final results of the student's mathematical problem-solving ability test obtained were 57% of the total maximum score, while the results of the student's initial mathematical problem-solving ability test were only 22% of the maximum score. Because 57%>22%, these results indicate that the use of Islamic integrated mathematics e-modules is effective in facilitating students' mathematical problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of interactive multimedia-based learning with Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in improving critical thinking skills of elementary school students in Natural and Social Sciences subjects. This research uses a development method with quantitative and qualitative approaches. The results of validation from the aspects of material, media, and language showed high ratings, and the product was declared practical by teachers and students. Students were actively involved in learning, and the results of statistical analysis showed significant differences between the control group and the experimental group in learning activities. This shows that this method is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills. Nonetheless, this study has limitations in terms of generalization of the results. Future research is expected to expand the scope of the study and consider additional factors for the development of more effective learning methods.
