Abstract

Background: Stroke is a serious disease problem and can lead to obedience and death. The high prevalence of stroke at Santa Elisabeth Hospital Medan can be seen from the number of outpatients and inpatients increased. Stroke that occurs caused by lifestyle is not good and one of them is the factor of smoking. Objective: to know the relationship of the smoking factor with the incidence of stroke at Santa Elisabeth Hospital Medan. Method: The type of research used is cross-sectional to study the relationship of the smoking factor with the incidence of stroke at Santa Elisabeth Hospital Medan Year 2016. The sample in the study amounted to 34 people with purposive sampling technique. The data were collected by using questionnaires. Data analysis was done by chi-square test. Result: = the results obtained 70.6% of patients with stroke occurs caused by smoking and stroke occurs in the first attack 52.9%. The result of chi-square statistic test obtained p-value = 0.008 (p <0.05). There is a relationship of the smoking factor with the incidence of stroke in Hospital Santa Elisabeth Medan. Conclusion: it is advisable for the nurse to provide health education on smoking causes of stroke and advise the patient to maintain a healthy lifestyle and collaborate with the doctor, physiotherapy in order to prevent the occurrence of recurrent stroke.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a serious disease that lasts a long time and causes disturbances in the body's metabolism, characterized by high blood sugar levels that exceed normal limits. The general aim of this research is to determine the characteristics of diabetes mellitus patients. This type of research uses total sampling, with a total of 121 respondents. The results of the research show that the characteristics of the Diabetes Mellitus patient age group are 19-39 young adults 4 respondents (3.3%), 40-59 adults 48 (39.7%), <60 elderly 69 respondents (57%). Characteristics based on gender are 75 respondents (62.0%) female, 46 respondents (38%) male. Categories based on occupation were housewives with 43 respondents (35.5%), entrepreneurs 30 respondents (24.8%), retired 20 respondents (16.5%), private sector 14 people (11.6%), farmers 8 people (6.6%), civil servants 5 people (4.1%), k. pln 1 person (8%). Characteristics based on high school education 72 respondents (59.9%), S1 37 respondents (30.6%), SMP 8 respondents (6.6%), DIII 4 people (3.3%). Based on education, namely Protestant 77 respondents (63.6%), Catholic 28 respondents (23.1%), Muslim 13 respondents (10.7%), Buddhist 3 respondents (2.5%). Based on education, Batak Toba 60 respondents (49.6%), B. Karo 36 respondents, B. Mandailing 5 respondents (5.4%), B. Simalungun 4 respondents (3.3%) Chinese 5 respondents (4.1%) , India 1 respondent (1%), Java 6 respondents (5.0%) Nias, 4 respondents (3.3%). It is hoped that it can increase knowledge and motivation about the importance of the role of nurses in managing diabetes mellitus both from the aspect of understanding the concept of self-care behavior and quality of life in diabetes mellitus sufferers.

Abstract

Nutritional status influences various factors related to health, knowledge, economy, environment and culture. Nutritional problems arise because of an imbalance between physical activity and adolescent nutritional intake. Nutritional problems in adolescents can affect psychological performance, productivity and achievement. The impact is in accordance with nutritional status, namely poor nutritional status raises the risk of infectious diseases, whereas overnutrition and obesity raise the risk of various degenerative diseases. Food intake is the variety of food and drink the body needs at any time.  Physical activity is any activity carried out because of business needs. Nutritional status is the final balance of nutritional intake in physical condition and food intake. Objective: Research to determine food intake and physical activity with nutritional status. Method: This research is a descriptive design using a simple random sampling method with a population of 258 respondents and a sample of 72 respondents. This research instrument uses a food recall questionnaire, activity recall and BMI measurement. Results: research shows that 53 respondents (73.6%) lack energy. 60 respondents (83.3%) lack carbohydrates. Protein is more 44 respondents (61.1%). 40 respondents (55.6%) lack fat. Vitamins are more than 46 respondents (63.9%). 59 respondents (81.9%) lack minerals. Lack of water for 72 respondents (100%). Light physical activity 70 respondents (97.2%). Underweight nutritional status of 52 respondents (72.2%). Conclusion: Based on the research results, it is found that the majority of students have poor food intake and physical activity with the nutritional status of teenagers. Researchers urge people to pay more attention to healthy food intake, sufficient activity and good nutritional status.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The environment for humans is a very important element in supporting life. One problem that often arises at this time is the lack of awareness of students in environmental conservation efforts so that the quality of the environment decreases. To overcome this the government established a program to increase student awareness in environmental preservation through Adiwiyata School. This study aims to determine environmental awareness about Adiwiyata School in SMP Negeri 1 Pancur Batu. This type of research is analytic descriptive with cross sectional design. The sample in this study were all students of class VIII-2 with a total sample of 30 people. Total sampling technique sampling. Data collection using questionnaire sheets. The results obtained by high environmental awareness of 20 people (66.7%). These results indicate that there is an environmental awareness of the adiwiyata school in SMP Negeri 1 Pancur Batu. It is expected that the teacher is able to increase student awareness regarding environmental preservation so that student awareness is higher. Salah satu masalah yang sering timbul pada saat ini adalah kurangnya kesadaran siswa dalam upaya pelestarian lingkungan sehingga kualitas lingkungan semakin menurun. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut pemerintah membentuk sebuah program untuk meningkatkan kesadaran siswa dalam pelestarian lingkungan melalui sekolah adiwiyata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesadaran lingkungan tentang sekolah adiwiyata di SMP Negeri 1 Pancur Batu. Jenis penelitian deskriptif analitik dengan desain Cross Sectional. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah semua siswa/i kelas VIII-2 dengan jumlah sampel 30 orang. Teknik pengambilan sampel total sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan lembar kuesioner. Hasil penelitian diperoleh kesadaran lingkungan tinggi sebanyak 20 orang (66,7%). Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa adanya kesadaran lingkungan sekolah adiwiyata di SMP Negeri 1 Pancur Batu. Diharapkan guru mampu meningkatkan kesadaran siswa terkait lingkungan pelestarian lingkungan sehingga kesadarn siswa semakin tinggi. Kata Kunci: Kesadaran; lingkungan; Adiwiyata

Abstract

Characteristics mean different things about a person, place, or thing that describes them. Compliance, which was originally known as "compliance", has a definition as the extent to which a patient's behavior (in terms of taking medication, following a diet, or making other lifestyle changes) must be appropriate according to clinical prescriptions. the DASH diet (Dietary Approach To Stop Hypertension) which is a vegetable and fruit diet that contains a lot of dietary fiber, which is 30 grams per day and certain minerals, namely potassium, magnesium and calcium while salt intake is limited, which is only 3 grams per day. The research objective was to determine the characteristics and adherence to the DASH diet in hypertensive patients at Santa Elisabeth Hospital Medan in 2023. Research Methods: This type of research is descriptive with a population of 120 hypertensive patients. The sampling technique in this study was random sampling in hypertensive patients with 53 people as a collection instrument. data using a questionnaire with 9 question items. The results of the study: The characteristics of respondents aged 56-60 years were 20 people (37.7%). Most of the female sex as many as 32 people (60.4%). Most of the duration of the patient suffering from hypertension 1-5 years as many as 36 people (67.9%). Most of the respondents to adherence to the hypertension diet found that 15 patients (28.3%) did not feel it. Conclusion: There are 20 people (37.7%) aged 56-60 years. Most of the female sex as many as 32 people (60.4%). Most of the duration of the patient suffering from hypertension 1-5 years as many as 36 people (67.9%). Most of the respondents to adherence to the hypertension diet found that 15 patients (28.3%) did not feel it. Suggestions for people with hypertension respondents are expected to be able to maintain and regulate a balanced diet with the DASH diet information to avoid hypertension.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is the factor that results in the greatest mortality on earth at a young age. In Indonesia, the most common cause of death is hypertension, which is included in the category of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Consuming too much junk food results in hypertension. Consuming soft drinks excessively will increase the number of calories that the body stores as fat. The accumulation of fat in the body can lead to blockage of blood flow and the formation of plaque or atherosclerosis, potentially leading to hypertension. Objective: This study aims to identify the pattern of junk food and soft drink consumption patterns at the risk of non-communicable diseases of hypertension. Methods: The researcher used a quantitative method, the populations are 210 people, with a sample of 68 people, using a simple random sampling technique, data collection using a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) and measuring the blood pressure of students. Results: The study found that the consumption pattern of junk food in the frequent category is 60.3%, the frequency consumption pattern of junk food in the category is 55.9%, the category is less than 26.5%, the category is more than 17.6%, the consumption pattern of the amount of junk food in the category is 51.5%, the category is less than 36.7%, the category is over 11.8%, The consumption pattern of soft drinks in the frequent category is 41.2%, the frequency consumption pattern of soft drinks in the fair category is 51.5%, the less than 35.3%, the more than 13.2%, the consumption pattern of the amount of soft drinks in the moderate category is 48.5%, the less than 42.6%, the more than 8.8%, Adolescents who have a history of normal hypertension (32.4%). Advice: Adolescents are expected to reduce the habit of consuming junk food and soft drinks too often, because these types of foods and drinks can increase the risk of various dangerous diseases such as hypertension.

Abstract

Background: Sports injury as an injury that occurs during sports activities caused by technical errors, physical pressure, collisions so that first aid must be given, knowledge in first aid is very necessary in order to be able to help someone who has a sports injury. Objective: To find out the level of knowledge of high school students about first aid for sports injuries. Methods: This study uses a descriptive method where this study uses a questionnaire with a total research population of 137 people, with a sample of 58 respondents with a total sampling data collection technique. The data analysis technique used is univariate analysis. This research was conducted at RK Deli Murni Diski Private High School on April 29 - May 05, 2024. Results: In the category of understanding and various types of injuries, good results are obtained, namely 52 respondents (89.7%), the category of how to provide sports injury assistance obtained results, namely less than 58 respondents (100%) and the category of sports injury assistance with a sufficient category of 37 respondents (63.8%) so that the level of knowledge of RK Deli Murni Diski Private High School students was included in the good category as many as 41 respondents (70.7%). Conclusion: The level of knowledge students is in the good category. Suggestion: It is hoped that there will be an increase in health education about sports injury relief carried out by health workers and teachers by conducting special training and providing health education or training in providing first aid to sports injuries at RK Deli Murni Diski Private High School
