Abstract

Hazmat is one of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) used by health workers in dealing with infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, hepatitis, COVID-19 which is currently a pandemic. There are several things that must be considered in the production of this hazmat clothing, namely the type of hazmat material, standardization and comfort in its use. The addition of the outer layer of hazmat clothing using betel leaf extract in the form of spray and liquid which has anti-bacterial and anti-virus activity is expected to increase the safety of health workers to be more protected from bacteria/viruses. This study applies research and development methods (Research and development). The research stages were carried out in the laboratory experimentally by applying betel leaf extract with spray and liquid preparations. The spray preparation that has been prepared is applied to the hazmat shirt by spraying it. After the hazmat is used by health workers in health services, the number of bacteria will be tested in the laboratory

Abstract

In the fruit processing industry, peel is one of the main by-products. Non-edible portions of fruit are likewise seen as waste and are frequently thrown out into the environment. Nowadays, one of the main sources used by the pharmaceutical sector to isolate and extract secondary metabolites is fruit peels. Many applications known for lime peel, especially for antibacterial. This study focuses on the isolation, chemical composition characterization, and antibacterial activity on skin pathogenic bacteria of lime peel essential oil (LPEO). LPEO were isolated using steam distillation and characterized by GC/MS. A total of 24 components were identified. The major constituents of the LPEO were d-limonene (40.24%), β-terpinene (15.68%), sabinene (13.15%), citral (3.41%), α-Terpineol (3.40%), and terpinene-4-ol (2.94%). The antibacterial activity was determined using the Kirby-Baurer method against several bacteria that can cause skin infections. The antibacterial activity of LPEO against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis dan Propionicbacterium acne is confirmed. LPEO showed varied levels of antibacteria activity against the gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Zone of inhibition (ZOI) in millimetres was used to measure the antibacterial activity, and amoxicillin was used as a control.

Abstract

Abstract

Menopause is a natural phase in a woman's life, marked by the permanent cessation of menstruation due to declining ovarian function. Many women experience menopause-related symptoms that impact their physical and psychological well-being. Lack of understanding about menopause often leads to unpreparedness in dealing with these changes. This community service program aims to enhance knowledge among premenopausal and menopausal women about reproductive health through education. The methods used include lectures, interactive discussions, and pre-test and post-test assessments to measure participants’ knowledge improvement. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge levels after the education program, with the “good” category increasing from 20% to 66.67%. Participants responded positively, stating that the provided information was highly beneficial for preparing for menopause. This program is expected to be sustainable with the involvement of healthcare workers and local communities to improve the readiness and quality of life of menopausal women
