The standards are varied such as integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for language that have been applied as 21st century skill. Thus, this study explores the ICT competences and CEFR level incorporated in writing syllabus for English Study Program in Indonesian universities. Nine syllabuses of writing course from English Study Program in Indonesia have been selected purposely regarding the availability of the universities. All the writing syllabuses are identified as Basic Writing, Professional Writing, Creative Writing, and Academic Writing.  The result found that; Basic Writing, the CEFR level was A1-A2, Professional Writing, CEFR level was A2-B1, Creative Writing, CEFR level was A2-B2, and Academic Writing, CEFR level was B2-C1. Abstract

Reaching decisions about what should be taught and how is highly crucial when designing a syllabus such as English syllabus regarding a number of issues. One of the issues is the demand to design a syllabus that meet with the students’ need. Thus, this paper aims to construct a prototype of an English syllabus for the Islamic Education Study Program as a response to the issue. In order to promote students’ writing skill, the developed prototype incorporates a genre-based approach in designing writing syllabus. This research employed Dick and Carey’s model of Research and Development in designing a prototype syllabus. The prototype of English syllabus design refers to the component of syllabus provided by SN-Dikti article 12 toward the syllabus components. The stages of GBA covers Building Knowledge of the Fields, Modelling, Independent Construction, Developing and Presenting the Task, and Analyzing and Evaluating the Written Text. The students are also familiarized with various genres to compose the text and relate it with Islamic values in daily life. The designed prototype syllabus then validated by expert judgements trough forum group discussion. The experts' feedback was used to refine and finalize the prototype syllabus.

Abstract

One of the types of interpreting is known as consecutive interpreting. Regarding the modes on how the message is rendered, the interpreter begins to interpret the utterances from the speaker only after the speaker has finished speaking. It is also believed that the procedures of consecutive interpreting involve certain stages. Thus, this small-scale research is intended to explore and discover the procedure of consecutive interpreting. Qualitative design was employed to gather and analyze the data by utilizing open-ended interview in which the interviewee was a professional interpreter. The evidence of this research revealed that there is no determined procedure to perform interpreting since every experts, researchers, and interpreters has their own set of approaches and practices for conducting interpretation consecutively. In general, the steps of consecutive interpreting consist of three stages namely pre interpreting, while interpreting and post interpreting. The procedures of consecutive interpreting are concerned with the interpreter's preparation such as preparing the material, briefing, and professional ethics, the agreement or contract between the organizer and the interpreter, strategy if interpret happened to make mistake, and, most importantly, note-taking techniques.

Abstract

Regarding the requirement of incorporating ICT competences into the teaching and learning process, the aim of this research is to design Models of Teaching for Writing Courses that have infused ICT competences into its teaching and learning activities. R&D was used and adapted from Richey and Klein's concept, with four stages of research including Need Analysis, Design Preliminary Product, Evaluation, and Revision. Literature study and observation were required during the design of ICT competences-integrated teaching models. The findings revealed that integrating ICT competences into existing teaching models was as knowledge deepening as the dominant ICT competences level in which students performed the ability to manage information and used open-ended software tools to access information, deliver the material, and collaborate with peers. Meanwhile, Kilbane and Milman's integrative teaching models were modified, and ICT was incorporated into the design of the Teaching Model for the Writing Course, which was reflected as a prototype lesson plan outlined in paragraphs.
